Kenyatta, great video as usual. I have owned the Weber Summit Charcoal Grill Center for over six years, and I love it. Soon after I bought the grill, I purchased the Slow n Sear Low Profile, along with the Drip n Griddle Pan that they also sell, which covers the other side of the Summit. I use this setup almost all of the time. I have never used the diffuser plate, as I use my pellet grill for long cooks. I use the setup on my Summit for fast cooks, and for low and slow cooks up to six hours. I cover the Drip n Griddle Pan with foil for easy cleanup. This setup has worked great! The other accessory I bought was the GrillGrates for my Summit. For example, I will cook a thick steak indirect on low heat for a while, remove it, put one-half of the four GrillGrates over the Slow n Sear, crank up the grill, and sear the steak. Comes out perfect every time without burning the heck out of the meat, because even though the grates get really hot, they are a nice buffer from the coals. Glad you like your Weber Kamado. If I only had one grill I could own, it would be the Weber. Pricey, but well worth it. I have probably used mine 300 times with no issues.

Thanks Richard for the tip about using Grill Grates with the Slow n Sear, that’s a great idea! I have Grill Grates that I probably bought for my Kamado Joe that I could also use on the WSK. I agree with you, I think the WSK is probably the best “do it all” grill/smoker that you can buy. I have no regrets buying mine.

Kenyatta, I've used the SnS on my Weber kettle for years with good luck. Usually, I put a couple of fire bricks up next to the SnS so that I don't get too much radiant heat on the protein. That works well too.

I bought a 1st generation SNS for my 22” kettle several years ago but after wearing out my kettle I bought the summit Komado. Now I’m considering what to do with my SNS for my old 22”. I noticed while reading the literature that the horizontal dimensions of my 22” SNS are almost identical to the low profile SNS made for the Komado. The only real difference is the height measurement. The SNS for the 22” is about 4.5” tall and the low profile SNS for the Komado is 3.5” tall. Rather than buying a new low profile SNS I’m considering cutting 1” off the top of my 22” SNS. Adrenaline BBQ told me it would void my warranty, but that ran out years ago. Ha ha.

Good video. My question is where did you get that sweet Weber zip up sweatshirt! I want one especially with all my pellet grill buddies. Nothing wrong with pellets, but I have all weber E6, 22" kettle, and 18.5 WSM!

Great Video Kenyatta.I got. My weber e6 kamato last August and was experimenting with it. I didn't think you needed a slow and sear for the kamato because of its design. I picked up a kickash basket that I highly recommend. I also picked up a basket divider. I've been experimenting first cook put weber baskets in bottom poured coals between baskets, that got me about 6 hrs. Then xIve tried the divider in different positions, for more or less coal. I was using kingsford blue in the kamato, in my kettle I had access to weber briquetts I can see a big difference in burn time and ash, I plan to experiment with charcoal too, you can get 40lbs of cowboy briquttes for around 20.00 at walley World around here. I want to try b&b briquettes. So until I get some briquettes similar to weber briquettes it's hard to tell about burn time, I actually felt like I burned less coal in kettle with slow and sear. The point you made about the offset effect rang a bell, I felt like my sns cooks on kettle definitely had different flavor profile which I really liked.i definitely like the slow n sear for ease of assembled, coal water, drip n griddle good to go. Most cooks I think this will be go to set up. The nice thing with kamato is the long burn time and space if you need it. I double smoked a ham on last cook and It seems once you dial it in it stays there. One thing I have been doing on the low n slow cooks I start about 2-3 in he's from left side let it burn across, I seen alot of cooks on other channels cooks were minion method doesn't burn evenly like weber Smokey Mountain. Bottom line I really like it, for a few years prior I thought I wanted the kamato Joe Big Joe, But I like ease of cleanup, also quick change of setups. Kamato Joe increased there price so much. Happy New Year looking forward to the next cook.

Hi John, thanks for your sharing your thoughts. You make an interesting observation about the burn inside the WSK from left to right. That's something that I have not thought about before. I have a Kick Ash Basket for my PK 360 and Kamado Joe. It also never occurred to me to consider it for the WSK but I imagine that it would make the WSK perform even better than it already does on overnight cooks. The theme here is that the WSK doesn't need much help from these accessories but they can make it even more outstanding which is what we're all striving for, right? 😋

Yep They make a dedicated weber kamato basket, Its 115.00, they also have a divider you can move to accommodate how much coal you want to use. Just have to keep experimenting with different set ups and fuel.

Nice video! So how long of a 225° burn time can you get with the SnS in the WSCG? Guessing an easy 10+ hours as I can do 6-8 in my 26 kettle w/ SnS with no issue.
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ 6 ай бұрын
Thanks Robb, I haven't done a 225 degree test but I think 10 hours can be expected if you strictly keep the temp in that range.

Is the lid temp gauge on the WSK accurate? I had to upgrade my WSM lid temp gauge.
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ 6 ай бұрын
The temperature reading on the WSK (and on any grill) will never match the ambient temperature inside your grill at the grate level. This is because thermometer is usually placed well above the grate so there will always be a variance. A better solution is to buy a thermometer (wired or wireless) that allows you to place the probe at the grate level. This will give you a more accurate reading of the ambient temperature where your food is located inside the grill.

Do you prefer the Summit Kamado to your pellet smoker? Help convince me that I need both. :)

I use my Summit Kamado more than my pellet grill. Food smoked with charcoal & wood chunks always beats the light smoke from a pellet grill in my opinion. A pellet grill is great for convenience….. when you don’t have time to really watch over a cook, a late weeknight cook, etc. For set it & forget it cooks, it doesn’t get any easier than a pellet grill. I like having both but the WSK would be my pick if I had to choose one.
