Hi Nozi, this is a great video to help people start understanding bonds. I have a request - Can you go more in depth on calculations referring to the tradable bond R186 etc on the yield and price (ie buying at a premium or discount and what the effect of that is when the bond matures or if you had to sell(trade) that bond before maturity

Hi Nozi. Im confused as to why the higher yielding bonds have earlier maturity dates on EE whereas on the direct SA bond webiste the higher yielding bonds are the ones with longer terms.

Hi Nozi Thanks for all the awesome content! 2 questions 😊 Correct that the interest rates is lower the longer the date to maturit? Doesn't make sense to me. If the government has a longer time to pay me back why a lower rate? About the tax. If you reinvest the interest. Do you still pay tax every year or only once you withdraw the money into your bank account?

To answer your first question, the interest rates for the longer term bonds may seem low at first glance, but if you think about it, you will get higher returns if you invest until maturity compared to the short term bond because you earn the interest for a much longer period. The second part of your question is you pay tax for interest regardless of cashing out or reinvesting.

Direct investment versus indirect investment. You cannot sell RSA retail bonds to another investor. But you can sell the bonds on Easyequities

Hi. On easy equities account, I bought shares on the 2/2/24 even now they are still on reserve cash. This has never happened to me. What could have caused this. I honestly don't understand why. Kindly please explain why this happened. I am not going to meet my monthly investing goal, so will I be penalized with the R25? Thank you
