Would you ever make a video on how the US has benefited the world. Show two sides of the story. The US has 800 bases around the world which seems crazy but in reality they are required to keep the authoritarian powers at bay. It is when sh*t hits the fan do we really realise how things aren't that bad in the West in comparison to Russia or China

@@notBabbon0123 This is an oversimplification if I have ever seen it. You are painting the Native Americans as some kind of perfect society, they weren't. They enslaved each other and went to war with each other all the time. They did participate in attacking white settlements unprovoked and many allied with the colonialists to fight their rival tribes. You are painting an incredibly biased narrative and it is disgusting to see. People these days just love manipulating history to pass off their own narratives. If you are going to tell a story, TELL THE WHOLE F*CKING STORY and from EVERYONE'S point of view.

as a native american, WE STILL EXIST. we never stopped existing. i’m eighteen and everything that’s wrong in my life stems to this. the colonization and genocide of the native americans/canadians. all of our issues as people only slayed after being killed off savagely. and the people who think we deserved it and stuff were severely misinformed and indoctrinated into believing lies. thank you for shedding light on this issue.

Although I was born and raised here, my skin color often leads people to ask where I'm from. I understand their curiosity. However, when I once asked a young man the same question, he responded angrily, declaring himself a proud United States citizen. It surprises me how deeply some people's egos are affected, to the extent that they seem to forget their entire history.

The natives had been there for a certain number of years before being considered natives. How long does it take to be called natives? The U.S. has been established for over 300 years. Is that enough time? Look at Europe now; many countries were established just a few hundred years ago, and their borders are constantly changing. That's why every country has a military. If the U.S. did not have a strong military, I believe the country would be gone soon. Consider some countries in Asia, like Russia, which conquered vast land in Siberia from indigenous people, China, which took land from the Mongolians, and Vietnam, which expanded its territory to the south from Cambodia. However, in these countries, they never talk about it; they consider themselves natives to the land. I think Americans are very open-minded to allow these stories to spread.

Hmm? Was I the man? Cause that sounds how I have responded.. the reason is because I was abandoned at birth and never met my parents, never known my family name, and was raised in a group home. The only thing I know of where I come from is the United States, also when people ask me personal questions I don’t have an answer to it triggers a long held resentment to being abandoned. When I was younger I was more proud about it as a cover to how I was feeling about not knowing anything about myself.

I remember in 5th grade while attending a catholic school I first learned of the trail of tears only as a foot note by my social studies teacher Mrs Harris, but it moved me so much that I did a whole report of the Nez Perce Tribe specifically on chief Joseph and I concluded with his now famous surrender speech and his one before the President at the time Rutherford B Hayes. “I am tired of fighting. Our chiefs are killed. Looking Glass is dead. Toohoolhoolzote is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say, “Yes” or “No.” He who led the young men [Olikut] is dead. It is cold, and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are - perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children, and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired. My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever.” “It makes my heart sick when I remember all the good words and all the broken promises. There has been too much talking by men who had no right to talk. Too many misinterpretations have been made; too many misunderstandings have come up between the white men and the Indians. If the white man wants to live in peace with the Indian he can live in peace. There need be no trouble. Treat all men alike. Give them the same laws. Give them all an even chance to live and grow. All men were made by the same Great Spirit Chief. They are all brothers. The earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it. You might as well expect all rivers to run backward as that any man who was born a free man should be contented penned up and denied liberty to go where he pleases. If you tie a horse to a stake, do you expect he will grow fat? If you pen an Indian up on a small spot of earth and compel him to stay there, he will not be contented nor will he grow and prosper. I have asked some of the Great White Chiefs where they get their authority to say to the Indian that he shall stay in one place, while he sees white men going where they please. They cannot tell me. I only ask of the Government to be treated as all other men are treated…Whenever the white man treats the Indian as they treat each other then we shall have no more wars. We shall be all alike - brothers of one father and mother, with one sky above us and one country around us and one government for all.” *note- This happened in 1984 where the school library and local library were the main resources for any information. Also what I had been taught was Chief Joseph had been forced to leave his home in the Pacific Northwest and was sent far away to a reservation and then he resisted and tried to get him and his people back to the Pacific Northwest. Learning so little about this in class and not much more was offered in the libraries about this is when I realized nations will go to great lengths to protect their perceived image as being good. This of course led to stop blindly trusting my government, which over the years I learned about not just the US Dark Secrets but those of its Allies, and even its enemies.

What the Europeans did in America was horrible, however , unfortunately it was the same thing that the natives were doing to one another before the Europeans arrived. In fact it’s the same thing that has been happening in every piece of land by whichever group of people that had power did for the history of humanity. Humans are very flawed. Multiple channels has already exposed the numerous ways in which Johnny distorts historical facts, and at times even downright lies in his videos. Sometimes he's correct in the things he says, but many other times he's spewing propaganda that leans to his political ideologies. And that's what's so dangerous about it. If he was simply spewing blatant propaganda 24/7 everyone could see that and take it for what it is... propaganda. But when he mixes in just enough facts that you let your guard down against bias and propaganda, people buy into it. It's a common tactic among most political parties, but dangerous and ignorant nonetheless.

Hey Johnny! I wrote my senior paper on the topic of Native American removal and symbology in US institutions. I have several maps and documents that show the context of the removal of Native Americans in the Midwest/Illinois region. The Potawatomi tribe was relocated from the Chicago area all the way to Oklahoma in the Trail of Death which occured around 1838. This entire trail is still marked today and I'd recommend speaking to Dr. George Godfrey about this specific topic if you'd like to know more. He has a lot of wisdom about his ancestors and what they endured.

Thank you Johnny! Wanishi, Mvdo!!! It’s been pretty easy to tell you we’re working up to this topic, and I’m not disappointed from the results. I’m a member of the Seminole tribe of Florida and a descendant Delaware Tribe of Indians/Lenape. So many of my family’s stories come from initial contact. The Lenape were initially on the coast of Delaware and Pennsylvania and even into New Jersey and New York. There are many contemporary issues that arise when trying to be present in our homelands from a lack of financial resources to CPAIN issues of identity. Native issues are issues that we deal with every day, but I’m always happy to see support towards native peoples on the internet. I hope the next video brings in The McGirt ruling which shows how Native people never gave up our sovereignty. The Lenape people are eventually were pushed right into Cherokee territory and now are subject to their jurisdiction. The fact that dozens of tribal nations were piled on top of each other and told to figure it out is so baffling to me. But we did, and now other tribes all across the U.S that are still in their traditional territory are also claiming to express their sovereignty. All that to say I hope the next video talks about how we are still here, we did not “loose”. Many tribes still hold onto their sovereignty and their culture. We feel we won, we are the living proof that the U.S failed at trying to erase our ancestors. Keep up the good work Johnny! Side note, its so disappointing this kind of video isn’t being sponsored, this kind of topic is never discussed at this level on social platforms.

The indigenous people here are integrated into general society. They ARE "the people." They own shops. They grow food sold to the rest of us. They wear traditional clothing. Their cultural events are community wide and enjoyed by all. I wish the Native Americans in Montana would exchange community members and leaders with Ecuador, in a cultural exchange. Just about every country that has existed throughout history has/had its foundation built on war, slavery, and other terrible crimes... That includes native americans, who regularly killed and enslaved each other for thousands of years going back to the Maya (began in 2000BC, over 4000 years ago) and possibly/probably earlier than that. Had the Europeans not come, it's possible, even probable they would still be doing this today. While erroneously receiving all of the blame for slavery (even though it was practiced worldwide and began prior to any European nation in existence today), it was the europeans who began the global movement to end slavery. An act for which nobody gives them credit. The African slave trade to the Americas ended after only a couple of hundred years, significantly less time than the thousands of years the natives were enslaving each other. The people who expect there to be reparations simply have no concept of history and how the world came to be as it is today. If everyone who was wronged in the past got reparations, everyone would owe everyone reparations. Amazingly, all of the people who were never slaves and want reparations don't give a shit to do anything to help those currently enslaved. There are an estimated 50 million slaves world wide right now. Finally, to suggest any one race has a head start today because of slavery in the past is just flat the dumbest statement with regards to slavery's impact on people today. Not only because every nation had slaves, many of which existed for hundreds or thousands of years prior to the United States and are still behind the US, but because it is literally the exact opposite of which you claim. The first nations to end the practice were the first to enter the industrial revolution, which was the true driver of progress leading to the world we live in today. Why were they the first to enter the industrial revolution? Without slave labor, the demand for technology and machines to increase production grew dramatically. It is the improved machinery and tech that began as a result of ending slavery which has brought the world to the significantly higher standard of living we enjoy today. Your whole comment is incredibly misinformed.

@@jeffwolff1015 I would never claim to be the historian as it appears your knowledge is superior to mine. I actually was bored as hell of it in school. That being said I would argue that as history is written by the ones who have the control of government, you are probably more misinformed than I as we are finding that so much in american history has a particular race appearing superior to others because they controlled the narrative. I don't care so much about slavery but instead how minorities were treated in America after slavery. Mentally, physically and systemic. NEVER having a fair opportunity because of the inferior mindset of the so called superior to keep them from achievements that could easily reveal the truth, as Hitler found out with Jesse Owens. Imagine where this country would be if when slavery supposedly ended, minorities were handled fairly. What type of a people would work so hard to deceive even their own that those with different skin are bad? So the history you bring to this conversation works better on toilet paper because you probably still believe the first light bulb was invented by a Caucasian.

Thank you for creating such an informative and thought-provoking video on the history of the United States and its treatment of Native Americans. The use of illustrations really helped to convey the message clearly. It's important to acknowledge and learn from the past, and your video provided valuable insight into a topic that is often overlooked. The emotional impact of the video really made me think deeply about the issue. Keep up the great work Harris.

@@marzupalami Yeah early people settled might have fought and replaced one another....but they don't do so unethically. I mean you sign a peace treaty, you give their right on land and when gold/cotton was found. Those treaties are just papers... you see it's clearly unethical....if you say yourselves as civilised and do such things..then probably you are far less civilised then original inhabitants. Just admit it you stole...or occupied illegally if you want to do it in such a way.

@@marzupalami true that no country will ever admit this....but at the same time if two groups fight and one wins..it is clear and ethical that he won fairly but the winner was also addressed as agressors/invaders and is not whitewashed as liberator. You cannot call yourself as civilised and democratic if you act in such unfair manner of occupying lands of natives. That's hypocritical...USA now calling Russia as Invaders but at time that's what USA has done in Afghanistan, Vietnam or Iraq. Ps: I am not defending Russia's agression.
