The main difference between 1973 and 2023 is that Egypt intended the war to force a political agreement, while the Islamist regimes Hamas and others would never intend any agreement! This makes a huge difference as it does not point to any ‘solution’ as a light in the end of tunnel. It’s much worse than 1973

These JC interviews have been so wonderful! I wanted to just share a couple of things that I hope are helpful: 1) I’m not sure who I’m watching because the interviewer didn’t introduce himself at the beginning of the video and there’s no name listed in the description box. 2) This interview especially is an extremely valuable conversation about media and journalism analysis and biases when it comes to Israel and I would love to share it. But unfortunately the sound quality of Matti’s side of the conversation is extremely difficult to hear and understand. If it’s possible, you may want to have your video tech see if they can clear it up the sound quality a bit? 3) Finally, the last point you both made was very helpful as well. I also am very left leaning and I 100% agree that the only media outlets that seem to be providing factual info are right wing outlets which is pretty frustrating to me. I would really appreciate a video about why that is, but in the meantime, could you please share some sources that go further into this? I’d love to look into this on my own. Technical audio problems (voices unbalanced) combined with Friedman's mumbling made this hard to listen to. Too bad because content is excellent.

The young Palestinians recruited by Hamas on October 7 are spoken to by their prophet Mohammad, (documented) same as Iran and the Hamas leaders are open about it. The mistake Israel made was to help people who were sick and give them work when they planned the attack for 2 years which who knows what intel they received and collected on their own till that fateful day.

I truly love Matti Friedman. I have all his books and even a signed copy of his last. However, he is a leftist. And even now, he is not introspective about how the left in Israel played a part in our troubles. I hope with all my heart that when the time comes (it hasn't come yet) that we analyze all the mistakes that lead us to this disaster, that Matti, who has such an amazing way of telling the stories, can find a way to be fair.

And obviously, this isn’t a six days war. You are simply not allowed to use the methods required for a shorter war. To much constraints. I smell presidential elections 2024, and “other interests” than Israel, in the region. I am confident that Israel will come out on its feet from this too. I stand with Israel 🇮🇱 שלום

I just wanted you to know, having watched the presentations of South Africa and Israel to the ICJ on the 11th and 12th January 2024, and following this, the report on it made by the BBC that I can no longer remain silent in the face of the tsunami of antisemitism that is resulting from the biased coverage we are faced with by organisations like the BBC. What happened in 1930's and 1940's Europe, the Shoah, was helped by so called good men remaining silent. I cannot be one of those men! here is what I posted on the BBC's account: BBC! How dare you claim to be unbiassed in your reporting! In Israel's presentation to the ICJ, a LOT was said about the huge amount of measures that Israel is taking to minimise civilian casualties AND to facilitate and even UPGRADE aid to the civilian population of Gaza. Much was said about how that aid is being stolen by Hamas to oil the wheels of their military machine and about how Hamas is using the civilian population as a human shield which they hide behind while perpetrating attacks into Israel on a daily basis. I watched both South Africa's and Israel's presentations to the ICJ IN THEIR ENTIRETY and I know exactly what was presented. I also conduct my own independent research on matters using multiple sources and have for a long time been keenly aware that the much vaunted BBC is neither independent nor is it unbiassed but has been reduced to a propaganda vehicle peddling the narratives of a government who itself is being manipulated by international forces it needs to keep happy regardless of the ethical considerations in doing so. Oil tends to be the number one reason for this and I suspect this is the case here because airing FAIRLY the Israeli position would upset the majority of the oil rich nations and call into question the narrative pushed out by terrorist organisations like Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad etc supported by their militant backers like Iran. I do not pay my license fee for you to try to manipulate me into a view that bears no resemblance to the truth and I do not pay my license fee for the BBC to act as a spokesperson for terrorists. BBC, hang your heads in SHAME! You have contributed massively to a situation where our fellow citizens are out in the streets in huge numbers calling for.... wait for it... GE-NO-CIDE! That is what the chant "From the river to the sea...." (sic) really means. The river is the Jordan and the sea is the Mediterranean and "Palestine will be free" means, as they would say during the second world war, Judenfrei! I am sad, appalled and ashamed to live in a country where our Jewish COMPATRIOTS no longer feel safe and daily live in fear because of the public reaction against Israel and them that YOU have been one of the main instruments of creating! NOW, I ask you this, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO CHANGE THIS SITUATION? You made the mess and it is up to you to clear it up. I pray that my example will encourage others to speak out but I wanted you to know there are many many people across the world who do not trust the Western media, conduct their own research, know the truth and stand with Israel and the Jewish people as a whole and will not stand idly by as was done almost a century ago!

Friedman recommends Times of Israel and Hurwitz??? Aside from Haaretz, TOI is the most extreme leftist paper in Israel and ditto Hurwitz. This recommendation really disappointed me. Normally I have a high opinion of Friedman and his books, but this left me cold!

In the past, Israel has attacked and killed both UK and US service men and civilians but that’s history. Today we are allies, so stop looking back and trying to build a better future with no wars, killing or discrimination!

And of course 1973 attacked army posts and 2023 targeted civilian population, intentionally. So the massacre intended not as a military statement, but a genocidal statement! You must be more precise in those points, please. But good good work.
