Similarly "Bharat" is the Real name But with time it got divided into 565 different Princely states Now Finally INDIA Or BHARAT Again.. Back that time Even England America did not exist.. Same Like England America, India is Union of different states !!

I am from a family that was hit by this event , we were landlords in our area and in days we became refugees to a new country . My grand parents had to leave their homes , their land , their everything in minutes . We came to newly built india , passed time in refugee camps , did hardwork to build all those things back . This video made me cry and I wish one day I will visit my ancestral land .

The easiest would be just connect to someone from your ancestor's area over facebook or some other social media. you can easily get a video of that area maybe houses etc to get a feel. but if you want to visit first hand most welcome.

It was the British, my dear friend. Jinnah was a direct result of Divide and Rule Policy and the hatred Britishers had been sowing among Indians for years. We know that Jinnah became greedy of power lately. They showed Narendra Modi and Imran Khan, who are in charge of it now. If we keep blaming history, both the countries have their hands coloured with someone's blood.

It's not just about the leaders. People who put their religion over humanity and country are also responsible for that. When Indians fought for the freedom of a single nation India(I'm talking about India before 1947), there was no need to create a new nation. I'm not blaming Muslims or Hindus here. But If Muslims would have never demanded a new nation, India would have been a united country and we didn't have to witness that massacre. India is still a secular country where Pakistan is an Islamist nation and this is where everything is wrong. Muslim population in India is increasing and the Hindu population in Pakistan is decreasing day by day. Something is wrong.

I am a product of both countries. My father grew up in India and moved over to Pakistan in the 60s. My mother is from Punjab in Pakistan. Punjab is divided between India and Pakistan. My maternal grandmother was a Rajput, which was a Hindu caste. I have relatives on both sides of the border and am in regular contact with them. I can totally relate to the history and the culture.

Britishers first created a problem, then in the name of solving that problem, they proposed a solution (splitting into two state) thereby creating another persisting problem. Thank you Britishers. Btw Kartarpur Corridor was opened recently with cooperation from both govts, but now due to the heightened tensions and Covid, it is closed again.

If you think Kashmiris are causing problems because they're predominantly Muslims then deal with it. It was Muslim majority even when J&K acceded to India. You knew they were Muslims and now you can't blame them for being Muslims. Nothing was stupid, mismanaged or unintentional ! As for continued tensions... here is a story. The real grass root controllers in British India were the Zamindaars (Land Lords) who owned swaths of farm lands and property that they got by being loyal to the British over many generations. In India, after independence, their land was taken away and redistributed... but this never happened in Pakistan... So ... Go Figure... How do you destroy someone bigger than yourself? You divide them into two... and make the two fight each other to the death.

The Indus Vally Civilization which was named after the river Indus was chopped off from its roots. The people from religion which was named after the river Sindhu, today have no place in the same region. The modern day India which was named after the river Indus, today have no jurisdiction over it. The real question everyone should ask today.. Where are Hindus, Sikhs and other native minorities of Pakistan? In India minority doubled and tripled in their percentages, In Pakistan they were just evaporate. There's a Doctor Who episode called Demons of Punjab which is based around the partition. Gives a perspective of the mindset of the people and shows the losses that were suffered. Obviously it's a British sci-fi drama (one of my favourites) that's been running for half a century, so you'll need to have some context about the show's universe and the protagonist (The Doctor) before diving into the episode. But it's an amazing and heartbreaking story.

Yes it's true in the case of America and Russia because both these countries have a huge thriving defense industry, so war is profitable for them because it creates more consumption of steel, more employment and more money at the cost of human lives. While this is not the case with India because India has a non existent defense industry and India imports nearly all of its defense equipments from Russia and USA, so war is not profitable from India's point of view (only exception which i think is profitable for India is the securing of most of India's rivers that originates in Himalayas without which more than a billion people will die of thirst and that's why India takes its borders in the north so seriously) . Same is the case for Pakistan as they don't have a major defense industry BUT as they are under the rule of their Pakistani military(even though they deny, but multiple military coups, military run businesses and military involvement in Pakistani politics say otherwise) small scale war and skirmishes are profitable for Pakistan because it instills fear in the minds of common Pakistani citizens and the Pakistani military can continue its stronghold over the country and get huge funding without backlash from common public. And as usual biased vox spreading its subtle propaganda and jaby fell for it.

One thing that wasn't clearly depicted in this video was how all the wars between the two countries were initiated by Pakistan to capture Indian territories even after an initial agreement towards the border. True that the divide is maintained due to politics but you can't expect to stay silent if the Pakistan's government and military are hell bent on disturbing the peace of india. The statement from Modi was probably in retaliation to the hatred and conspiracies coming from across the border and not to forget the persecution and forced conversion of religious minorities in Pakistan. If they really want peace and development, why don't they stop meddling in Indian politics and actually take care of their own people.

This is one of the best videos to portray the political situation of India. I have seen hatred towards Pakistan in small innocent kids of India. We are all humans at the end of the day! Coming from the best Technical Institute of the country (IIT Bombay), I have been open-minded most for my life just to see that the politics has poisoned the citizens of my country to an extent that it will take more than a century to accept the neighbor country (Pakistan) for who they really are; they are humans and have culture similar to ours.

Mr JABY KOAY- The reason of tension between India and Pakistan is not their leaders ,Reason is Pak Army bcoz In India ,State has an Army whereas in pakistan ,an Army has a state,leaders are mere puppets in army's hands in Pak, There can be no peace as long as Pak. Army is at the helm of affairs in Pakistan bcoz they want tensions and Kashmir problem to stay live to justify their disproportionate share of pak GDP and power -have u seen an amry operating Malls , petrol pumps ,manufacturing soaps ,deteregents ,Pak Army does that

I love the way history is described but its a bit mis narrated. Mountbatten didn't 'hastily decide' to transfer power but was 'FORCED to' do so by our patriotic freedom fighters. Prime example of that is Red Fort trials and Revolt of Indian Navy.

My grandmother always tells me stories about 1947 war and partition , she was just 14 at that time and she told me how she remember seeing all the dead bodies laying on the road , and how she got separated from her brother while...I still have relatives in Pakistan and they sometimes come here (in India) to meet us

Jaby, this video is slightly misleading! After the partition, India tried to focus on development and communal harmony, but the Pakistani politics and army spread the fake narrative of Kashmir being a part of pakistan (which it wasn't) and initiated 4 wars in which they were badly defeated by India! Not everything is hunky Dory between the two nations! India is a symbol of peace and development whereas pakistan emerged as a nation which uses terrorism as its state policy! Many UN designated terrorists and terrorist organisations work in Pakistan and they believe in the policy of 'bleeding India through thousand cuts'! In india, politics have much bigger issues to deal with rather than indulging in conflict with pakistan..but we just can't tolerate terrorism coming from across the border!

The fact that British botched up the division is horrible in itself, but it caused millions of death in riots. Journalist who reported in world war 2 and Holocaust, reported that the violence and bloodshed during partition would make Holocaust look like it was nothing. All this when the leaders of freedom struggle and Indian national congress outright rejected the 2 nation theory. The leaders said 'just leave us to settle it between us, don't divide us'.

I would say Jinnah and Gandhi also share the blame. Jinnah threatened to ensue violence if they didn't get new country. Gandhi didn't wanted his persona of non-violence to be tarnished by this, so he agreed. Nehru wanted to remain in goodwill of Lord Mountbatten. Morarji Desai, Vallabhai Patel and other prominent leaders opposed this.
