I own an FJR1300 07 model and it's a blast to ride! Just a fantastic bike for long rides. I have upgraded the seat plus the front forks next will be still pretty brake lines and better brake pads. Not really interested in doing pipes on it. Mine's been upgraded and I know that 152 horsepower to the rear wheel. They tweaked up the computer on it threw some K&N cans on it remapped the mass air flow sensor. I bought this bike with 36,500 miles on her. I spent another 800 doing tires and the forks. I lost everything I owned in the campfire in Paradise California . What hurt the most was losing my motorcycles the freedom to ride. Which I had lots of old school bikes. 86 FJ1200 with 32,000 miles on it an 2002 R1150RT with 37,000 miles on her a long with 84 XR500R Honda. But I'm so grateful for his Yamaha! Have awesome day

I'm an old guy too (67), and to me big sport touring bikes are the only way to go. Loads of Torque and HP and yet comfortable. I ride a '88 1100 Katana with the factory luggage that I bought about a month ago after being out of motorcycling for 30 years as a inexpensive retirement gift to myself. I wish you would get one of those late '80's early '90's GSX1100F bikes in some day and do a road test on that too. They may not have been as popular in the US as they were in Canada though. These FJR1300's are beautiful bikes but a lot of us old retirees can't afford a newer machine like that and need to go with something older. It's great that there are so many nice sport touring bikes like the one I bought still available 30 years later. It just goes to show the quality that goes into these bikes.

I have a 2008 FJR with the paddle shifter I traded the bike on a 2023 gold wing I missed my fjr so much that I went back to the dealership and bought the dam bike back i just miss the top end speed Honda lied about how fast the goldwing is they sa8d 140 mph complete lie they capped it with a limiter at 112 mph whi h is a disservice to the wing I have had my fjr up to 165mph and totally miss that rush that the fjr gives I am 58 yrs old and still love my 2008 fjr and I think I will keep it til it can't run no more I ha e 50k miles on it never a problem ride on and be safe everybody oh and after I bought back I installed coffmans exhaust slip on and omg it brought this bike alive like I never expected it to and love the sound and put K&N air filter only mods I did and now I am more in love with bike than ever before...

I owned one of these for a long time and it’s still my favorite long range bike. To correct that HP figure, it’s 145 at the crank and 125 at the wheel. Where it really shines is it’s down low torque, in top gear at 5-6 rpm your going to jail lol and it’s mpg combined with its 6.6 gal tank. It’s a highway machine.

This “semi old man” (54) absolutely loves his 2011 FJR. Bought her new and plan on keeping her until I physically can’t ride anymore!

I own the quintessential old man bike, a 2018 BMW R1200RT. My brother owns an FJR1300 and I have to say, it is the only thing I’ve ridden that I would consider giving up my Beemer for.

I've had an FJR for ten years. This guy is right. I've done two certified Iron Butt rides on it, and it stays comfortable. Most people hate driving I-10 from San Antonio to Stockton. It's a big straight interstate. But with its 80mph speed limit the FJR just loves it, and you get off feeling refreshed. I have the AE model with the paddle shifter, and that makes things like the pig trail in Arkansas a lot of fun without wearing out your left hand. Perfect 300ms shifts every time.

Hey! I just watched 2 videos of yours. Great job! Love the Scripture readings! The first one was you reviewing a Honda ST1300. As you were riding around, I was thinking to myself, "That looks like Lancaster, PA!" I lived in Mount Joy for 8 years. In this video, I recognized the sports complex, and right after that, the highway sign for 283! My old stomping grounds! What a great area it was to ride motorcycles! At the time, I had a 1984 Honda Nighthawk 650. My Dad had a couple of nice BMW's. an older R100RT and a newer R1200RT. I live in Massachusetts now. My Dad passed away a couple of years ago, and I sold my Nighthawk about 9 years ago, but now, I am about to PURCHASE a Yamaha FJR1300 ABS! I am so excited! I still have some good friends there in Lancaster & Lebanon Counties. Looking forward to taking many trips to the area! I plan on looking you guys up next time I'm in the area! God bless! WWG1WGA!

The +litre sport tour bikes are absolutely sick. Amazing power, and as you said, they WILL smoke sport bikes with inexperienced riders, they are plain fast. My brother has a BMW K1200GT and it'll knock your damn socks off. Comfortable is a pure bonus. Your review was spot-on, as usual. These bikes are heavy yes, but will definitely shred with a good Rider on them. After a decade of riding sport bikes exclusively, I have finally 'seen the light' and am getting a sport-tour next for sure. Only took one ride to realize the awesomeness. Great review Sean. Salute.

Best bike ever built...yes...ever...had mine since 2007 and love it.

I have an 07 FJR that I traded a YZF 600 for. I love that bike and don't think I could ever go back to a sport bike again. I've done several long trips on it and I can stay in the saddle much longer than I ever could on that YZF. It has the power to keep up with the wrist twisters on group rides and you can be comfortable while doing it. The ABS saved my life one night when I was coming back from a long trip in the rain. Some guy pulled right out in front of me and I had to brake hard. I knew instantly if I was on my old YZF I would have slid right into that car. I can't say enough good things about it. I'm 6'3" and the stock windshield raises up far enough for me to have almost no wind in my face. If I slouch slightly I can get under the wind completely.

After 30 years might be time to trade up from the old FJ 1200 to an FJ 1300 ..

That FJR is awesome! The newer models have electronic suspension and 6 speed tyrannies in them, but never -the -less, this one is very fast and like you said very comfortable. It'll do everything the newer ones will do. In China, the police use them. in Japan, the police use them too. Very reliable! One of Yamahas best builds in my opinion.

This is by far my favorite bike of all my motorcycles just love the total feel of the bike, I will never selll

I have had mine for a few months now and it just gets better by the day. Heavier than a 500cc naked but perfectly manageable for anyone of average height or taller if you have half decent balance. The performance is staggering and you need the cruise control on long journeys to avoid speeding fines. I commute every day through central Sydney on mine with no trouble. The width prevents nipping between rows of traffic but that only adds a few mins to my journey as you can use the bus lanes on a bike here. It is a great long distance cruiser but is so good at everything else that if you only want/can afford one bike then this fits the bill. Did I mention that it does 0-100kms in 2.9 seconds?

2nd gear at redline is about 90 soooo... love mine

My wife brought the 2007 model for me 1 yr ago after I suggested that we get one for trips away. We've done 2 trips together , and it was awesome I've done 15000 KS since then , and I rate it very highly. I live in a very hilly country called New Zealand and it handles extremely well. I wish I had one yrs ago

Best touring gen 1-gen 4. I own the gen 1 and now gen 3 cheaper maintenance and very reliable motorcycle for long distance. Wise choice to have fjr 1300.

I have 1 of these,and it always puts a smile on my face just how quick it goes the "speed limit". I tell the zip splat riders,its the difference between driving a dodge neon and a caddilac !

I have a xj 900 outside but we have just bought a fjr 1300 . truly refined biking but I still think the xj is great fun.

Going the speed limit eh, we could count those road dashes per second and come up with your speed. Great bike but I would kill myself on in it. It is smart to pray before you ride.

Yep another 59 year "old man" with an 04' FJR. She just turned 20, with 42,000 on the clock and a ton of upgrades. Still runs like a top, I have had her up to 150 mph...Smooth, fast and reliable bike! I just got back yesterday from a 900 mile trip. I will eventually get a newer FJR, but I am keeping this one as a spare! 😎

First had a new bought 1990 fj1200. Loved it and regretted selling it in 1995. Bought a 2018 FJR in April. You have to ride one to understand. This scoot is simply perfect and will never be for sale again.

I think it's a beautifully styled bike,especially with the dual pipes.I never rode one,but if it feels right in the showroom,I'm taking one home.

Fantastic bike, it has been the highway patrol bike in Belgium for a decade and a half until they were forced into getting to new BMW r1200rts.

2018 FJR is my absolute dream bike , test rode one a while ago and it is a complete beast. Currently ride a VFR800 (pictured on it) , and i much prefer the FJR although they are very expensive over here. (Australia).

I rented one of these for a little trip with my wife. Surprised the crap out of me how quick it was even 2 up.

I have a 06 since 2011, and done more than 60 000 km on it, was already 38 000 when I got it. It's a really amazing bike, although I am just a little too small for it, I am 173 cm, and when travelling in the mountains here in Switzerland, I had some scary moments when I had to stop in steep hill in additon to leaning angle. It's top heavy. But, the engine is a true rocket. As most, I did a trip of 1 250 km in one day, from Sweden to Switzerland, on mainly highway. It's very good for long rides, but the high frequency vibrations made it diffucult for me to pee for a few days after that trip. It's not beatiful, but it's a really good bike, for touring. I have read people complaining on it for e.g. city trips, but I think it's not a problem at all. It's versatility is its strongpoint. And the sound then you rev it to the redarea. Like a jet engine.

Took delivery on my ‘04 fjr in October of ‘03. Now with 135k miles on it, I’m still very much in love with it.

Had the same bike. 60k miles no issues. Loved the shaft drive. Still have the Dyno Jet power commander V. If anybody wants to buy it.

As a owner of a 2012 Connie. These bikes are like having the perfect girl. Curves in the right place, looks good, not scared to eat a good meal with ya, can cook, and are really good in the sack. Classy but with just enough attitude to keep the masses in their effing place.

Love the low, throaty growl of an in-line four, and nobody lines-em-up better than Yamaha; however, your opinion may vary.

I miss my FJR. I ride a Road Glide Ultra with tour pack. It's so much heavier than the good ol FJR. I'll have to get another one some day.

Owned this bike in England. It's not a 'mental' bike and is well behaved, as long as you are!

You think its a monster now add the delkevic straight pipe exhaust with akropivic tips flashed ecu and a powerjet fuel controller with a shorty windshield (2003 first gen) your looking at 131kw at the crank and 157nm topped out at 278 kph these things are definitely capable of more but honestly what more do they need😜

How is this bike for someone who is looking for more comfort and performance is secondary? I am mostly riding in the cities and maybe weekly during the fine months of Chicago take 200 mile trip in a day or something. Is the foot peg comfortable? I currently ride a Honda rebel 500. I am not really sure about the big tourers or baggers because I have never done heavy bikes though I am sure with sometime I can learn how to ride one. I just started riding after 20 years and have the rebel since it is very forgiving. Any inputs or recommendations is appreciated.

Maybe you can help,, I’m looking at buying a 2017 fjr1300 but the problem is,, it is white,, not police white a off white,, I ran a vin check and it comes up with no accidents no salvage and no theft,,do you know if Yamaha made any white models in 2017..don’t want to buy a bike that was in an accident..strange that someone would decide to paint a bike and pick white

Love this bike, but at just under 5'7", I have reservations... I rode a 2017 without any serious issues, but I was hanging off one side to put a foot down. That's not an issue in and of itself, but I would have to get off and push to back it up. I had a little difficulty getting the kickstand down when I parked, but I think that would be OK once I was used to it. Removing the center stand would probably make it easier. Still, the bike feels top heavy when stopped, and while I can handle it, I can see a real possibility of dropping it under the right circumstances, and I don't imagine it is easy to stand back up. It handles well, and I didn't have any trouble even at low speeds, but I would have to be careful about where I stopped. I hate dropping a bike while getting used to it. If I decide to pull the trigger on an FJR1300, I'll probably put canyon cages on it before I start riding it. I'm probably better off trying to get an "already been dropped" discount on a used one than forking over the duckies for a brand new one. It really is an appealing bike for logging a lot of miles on. I'm currently sport touring on a Ninja 650, but chain maintenance is a real PITA when you're doing over 1,000 miles in 24 hours.

I don't think the USA got the cb1300 but it's very comparable but has a few more manners. I love my cb. Super comfortable mile muncher. Eats 600 in second for breakfast.

Hello, I like this Kind of Bikes, I own a BMW K1200 s, it is in the same Category but a bit more Horsepower 167 bhp and a bit faster, on the Autobahn here in Germany I reached 290 kph, but as my second Bike I own a 1971 BMW K 60/5, but this makes also a lot of Fun to me.

Liter bikes are WHERE it's at......wish I would have realized this Years ago!! Went from 600 to 1100, NO comparison!!........liter bikes have Fat Bottom power......600's need to "spool" up high......good for the track where you're riding in the Top End more......but Horrible for the street!!
