How good would shadow tag chandelure be ACTUALLY?

Well, you can trap that annoying pokemon called ferrothorn, and your opponent won't even be able to switch in a resistant counter. Same with Pokemon like Gengar, Serperior, etc. They will have to accept fate since they cannot be switched out. I guess players will run a choice scarf on it so it cannot be damaged and it can ko them first before taking a hit after them.

Shadow Tag itself is extremely broken ability. It's basically banned whenever possible. Switch ins prevent Pokemon from being basically a Rock Paper Scissors match. If you switch in a Shadow Tag user as a revenge killer or even just a normal switch, you are basically locking your opponent into whatever option you want it to be. You are playing Rock Paper Scissors but your opponent has to go first. It's diabolical, and the whole meta changes based on it. Wobbofett was the first non-legendary Pokemon banned because of Shadow Tag. Wynaut was second. Gothitelle won Wolfe the 2016 tournament with it. Even with how fucking busted some Megas were, such as Mega Kanghaskan, Mega Gengar was used on nearly every single team in Tournaments because of Shadow Tag. Chandelure with Shadow Tag, who was much speedier and had a much better moveset to check Gen 5 top tier Pokemon.

Zashian outspeeds chandelier and Has the move crunch And because of how broken his damag is I don't think chandelier would be able to take a hit

@@man-iz4ml there are multiple ways around that, with speed control like tailwind or trick room (the latter chandelure actually gets it). Even with focus sash, redirection and things like that you can make it survive.

@@eherobo True but I feel like The tailwind and trick room feel like a whole team based around killing one pokemon Especially because chandelier speed is decently high not the highest a lot of slower pokemon Could Now out speed And not to mention how you would need a very certain Pope 3 certain pokemon 2 trick room and if you're going to have trick room you probably want your team to benefit from it And tail wind is a really specific move except for double battles That also needs a pokemon to set up that specifically But good old focus ash definitely can work

Not only bulkier, it is tied with Vikavolt for highest special attack among non-legendaries/ultra beasts at 145, which is insane for a mon that also gets shadow tag.

I disagree, it would have been way better in singles. There were test games with shadow tag chandelure. It could switch in on a choice locked pokemon and setup for free, then pretty much win the game

@@thegoldengoat2560 with immunity that's harsh. That's why I think the choice items need to be fixed that you can choose again if it has no effect. Just lower it's strength by about 10% or something to justify the buff

Gothitelle is actually tankier than Chandelure.

Gothitelle is definitely more tanky than Chandelure

@@Azun_Kurone well that and chandelier has a TON of restiances so a lot of pokemon literal couldn’t even damage it. Gengar has a a good amount too but chandelier has even more. Which means its easier to just nasty plot a bunch of times with it then sucker punch everything. But yea idk why gengar got this and chan didn’t cause gengar is far scarier despite that

There's even a suspect test whether or not mega gengar was gonna be banned from ubers it almost as powerful as zacian and mega rayquaza

shadow tag is more broken, it forces extremely one sided situations, like switching into a choice locked mon and either eliminating it or setting up, it's extremely broken

Oh trust me, if Bidoof had Shadow Tag to switch in a ghost move and set up 6 work up + something with speed, it would sweep legendary too, if not easier. Shadow Tag is broken. Pokemon Radical Red let Chanderlure keep shadow tag and it’s the most broken thing I’ve ever seen.

@@allmightygir4865 It would have definitely been scary. The offensive STAB combo is busted and there were very few counters to this combo and those pokemon get bodied by Focus blast/energy ball.

Yes. Ghost types ignore arena trap

Flying type ignore Arena traps. Dugtrio has little resistance and lack the power to make itself competent. While Chanderlure, on the other hand, has 2 immunies and 5 resistances. And it rock a 520 base stat, with speed and Special Attack higher than many legendaries. Not only that, Chanderlure also have some of the most sweeping moveset of the game

A scarf lure would be one of the best revenge killers ever seen in singles if shadow tag was on it.

When I made my first Pokémon Showdown with little to no knowledge of competitive Pokémon, I actually used a Choice Scarf Chandelure! It wasn’t the most busted thing and I didn’t use for long but it didn’t usually disappoint

Also Alder used a Choice Scarf Chandelure on his Black and White 2 World Tournament team

Why bother using Choice Scarf when you can just switch in on a passive Pokemon and Calm Mind six times after subbing up ?
