Surveillance footage shows a woman who was allegedly kidnapped and forced to marry her abductor in a Las Vegas wedding chapel, according to police. In the video, Joseph Hetzel, 52, kissed Virginia Paris, 55, on the cheek. He also put his arm around her neck and held her tight, but she says that was an act of intimidation. Paris told Inside Edition she feared Hetzel might kill her. At one point, she tried to leave the chapel during the wedding, but Hetzel forced her back. #InsideEdition

My ex did this to me. The only reason we didn't get married is because he needed a copy of his divorce papers from another county & it was late on a Friday. 3 days he kept me. I escaped after being choked & beaten & managed to fight him off & run for it. It was terrifying. The sad part is, the courthouse paid no mind to my red swollen eyes from crying so hard begging him to let me go. I honestly thought they'd notice my distress. But nope. People need to learn how to spot situations like this. Glad this woman also made it out alive.

The real threat of violence can be enough and fear be can incapacitating. You were trying to defend someone that didn't deserve it. @@michelizeclem1647 paperwork still needs to be done since there is record of the marriage. They can’t just crumple the paper up and throw it away. That’s just not how it works. The annulment process really isn’t that complicated anyway.

How horrifying. You would think that the state of Nevada would automatically annulled the marriage so that she wouldn't have to deal with the expense and emotional aspects of it. Do some research on the psychological fear tactics kidnap victims like Elizabeth Smart and Natasha Kampusch were subjected to, and learn a thing or two about how a kidnap victim is threatened behind closed doors and the dangers of trying to escape, or even speaking up, being at the mercy of psychopath, and maybe you’ll understand better.

SunBunz ik what you mean cause happen to me from when i was 5 till i was 9, untill my mom got me and saw what was on me and i told her everything. But come to say the only charged one person to jail when it was really 3 people who raped me, my dad and his brothers did. And i hate them for it still till this day. And i still live with the fact that i think someone or anyone would try to kidnap me or my little girl, cause of what happen to me in the past. So yes its true people do get worried that they would be killed or beated. And believe me ik that for a fact. And plus, if your here in texas no the court houses do not help at all.

I'm sure this is already said in the comment somewhere, The way she behaved in the chapel she was clearly uncomfortable and scared, far more than pre wedding jitters, yet they didn't see any red flags.. I'm sure they see all types of people so no blame on them it's just really weird that she was able to be wed to her kidnapper and no one batted an eye.. I'm glad she's okay now.

She didn't scream or try to get away in public because she was afraid. It is known that many times if you call for help people most likely will just watch. But she asked for help when she could which shows she was brave.
