I’m working at Internal Medicine Dep and Radiologists are our number 1 enemies thinking they know better than us if patient needs or doesn’t need certain examination

Oh, and a common ground between dermatologists and radiologists also by my mom: “there’s this old saying they teach you…if you know what it is, don’t touch it. If you don’t know what it is, DEFINITELY don’t touch it”

Patient’s are not idiots, it’s lack of knowledge about treatment, prognosis, further management plan which patient wants to know but eventually end up asking a radiologist who has no idea about the diseases ,it’s their frustrations they reflect to the patient,

You need a tweed jacket, or at the very least something with elbow patches, an oversized pair of eye glasses, have memorized the DSM (all versions), and can diagnose a patient within seconds without needing the MMPI.

@@dr.floridamanphd you might be interested to know the MMPI is only used by certain clinicians for certain applications and like most midcentury 'personality psychology' has been almost completely phased out in favor of testing with lower error rates. I wish most clinicians had memorized even just one version of the DSM. everyone just uses google for anything not related to their specialties.

Fracturing my foot was the second most painful injury I've had in my life, the first being fracturing my nose. I didn't go to the doctor for my nose until a year after the initial injury, so it technically had already healed... just incorrectly.I still deal with chronic pain in my nose, and I already had chronic pain. But, surgery would've just been to complicated and scary for me (I have a lot of disabilities, and idk everything that I may have adverse reactions to. But, Ik my mom has some bad reactions to certain anesthetics.)

Don't give up those small muscles in the foot and ankle need to be rebuilt! I was starting to almost stagger when walking on uneven ground and was thinking I might have a more ominous diagnosis, but physical therapy for my spine and pre & post knee replacement surgery has made a Huge Difference in my ability to walk without missteps! Look up KZfaq videos on Physical Therapy for balance on ones feet and for foot strength, and flexibility and balance. You can do it!

You might be low on vitamin B12. Go check with your doctor and a have blood test. Long term low levels will affect your memory also. If you have GI tract problems that you can’t absorb B12, maybe you can get monthly shots like some people.

@@grumbles You are correct, I always look at the doc who ordered it and the situation. Poor planning on the doctor's part does not equal "STAT" orders on my part. They will get done, but I am not going to delay care for other patients on a busy med surg floor because the doctor forgot to place orders for routine labs the day before and placed them suddenly as stat because he is impatient.

No one cares, o thou ignorant one.

And medical professionals wonder why their patients are educating themselves online. I feel like we can put many (not all) of them out of business because patients are completing their own research more effectively. I've learned more about my own and my kids' health in recent years due to a lot of lack of communication from them.
