Green menu only applies to the infotainment system. Instrument cluster is a separate module.

Your diagnostic software is too old or your cars module does not support long coding.

Address 17 in all VAG cars (Skoda, Seat, Audi, Volkswagen...) is the same for instrument cluster module. S3 8L had an OEM boost display? Or are you thinking about 3rd party DIS/FIS extension modules?

Most likely those features are not available in your car/instrument cluster.

H08 0224 Searching ERWIN I could not find a TPI or SB for my instrument cluster. Most instrument clusters I have seen for Q5 have firmware 0258 whereas mine is 0224. (2009 model is doomed).

Did instrument cluster firmware update and gateway firmware update, same as SVM in A4, and problem sorted out. I have 2 new instrument cluster options, temperature and efficiency program enabled. So these features could be made available if one wishes (apart from the boost bar).

I believe it's possible but not with this method. Some EEPROM mods required.

Most likely a reminder like "door open", "key in ignition" or other message. Have you enabled anything else while using VCDS? There's a lot of safety warnings over there that you could turn on.

mr-fix thanks for the reply. It's the seat belt warning tone. It's activated with the lap timer somehow. I just need to go back in and deactivate.

If I press the button in middle, a very very faint green light comes on to the left, (I think). On the right it appears to be a sensor. I have no idea what these do, there's a sensor for dimming on the back left. I saw in a video an Audi mirror with dimming and it did not have the button, light and sensor on the front bottom. Also there's a sensor for rain I think, in the top half of mirror mount, part is stuck to windshield, today my wipers didn't go on when it started raining, maybe needs lots of rain to work or is mine not working?

OK, so the rain sensor is on the mount. It works if your wipers are set to intermittent setting (between off and low speed). You can adjust sensor sensitivity with the little switch at the top of the right stalk. Dimming mirror is using two sensors. The on facing front of the car determinate ambient light (is it day or night) and the one facing back of the car checks if there's someone behind you blinking you. That way if you're all alone your mirrors will not dim and only if there's traffic behind you they will. If green LED is on, then dimming is active.

Thanks for clarifying. I did see a mirror in a video that was Audi dimming without no front controls, so I guess that was stage 1 and I got stage 2.

Not all ECUs and Instrument Clusters support that feature apparently. Also if you can check if your Instrument Cluster is coded properly.

I looked around and it seam that B8 does not support boost gauge. Sorry.

No. MMI hidden menu gives access only to MMI options. Instrument cluster options need to be enabled by connecting to the instrument cluster module via diagnostic interface like OBDeleven, VCDS...

Where can i get vcds

3.0tfsi is not a turbocharged engine. it uses supercharger which provides linear boost so I guess that there's no point controlling it.

Some instrument clusters and some engines don't support this feature.

+Austin T some models (2008 and later) support that function. you have to check in you car.

You have a 2009 car with MMI 3G+?!

Yes I do, it's a Japanese market car. It has the hard drive built in, full colour graphics etc. I don't think it's been modified, but I guess anything is possible. I believe there might be other settings to get it to display, like in the Green Menu. I haven't given up yet, still learning to use my HEX-V2.

MMI version? I'll check. Car also has backup camera, left side camera, paddle shifters, 7 speed DCT, heated front seats, and the rear gate does not open automatically. I'm still trying to figure out how someone uses a car for 7 years and 44,000 kms and leaves not a mark, dent or scratch. Underneath the car appears to be brand new including muffler system. Like it was never driven in the rain let alone snow. It has 19 inch wheels and front lower plastic upgrade. The oil level has not gone down at all and the engine is strong and smooth.

This was shot in Q7 2008, the same procedure worked for me in A6 C6 2010, A4 B8 2010, A6 C7 2011, Q5 and many others. Always the same procedure.

freqstyle Not all cars (and engines configurations) display boost gauge. In this video you can see the boost gauge at the top of the display, but the engine (4.2TDi) does not support it so it's always on max.

because you probably need an good vcds cable with valid software, not from china
