Use the whole diatonic scale primarily for movement!!! Woww...this is like a revelation for me...I've always felt like I needed to use the full scale so as not to sound predictable in the pentatonic but never thought to use the diatonic primarily for quick runs

Can do a follow up video where you combine the next chord in the jam with the holy trinity. Like for example, if your next chord is Cm or B major. I would like to see how you sew it altogether.

I'm still learning the fretboard with chords and arpeggios. You really are gifted in explaining the next steps for me to take. Merci beaucoup. I was sad to not see black notes on the fretboard when I started out. So I did the next best thing. I put postit notes on my piano keys, and now I have strings on the piano. This helped me to realize the shift around the Eb, E and F scales. Is there a name for this shift? I wanted to call it a warp, but they use that for the B string since it's a third instead of a fourth.

Thank you! That is clever. So for major key / major pentatonic you use G barre shape (pinky is root on low E) for the arpeggio, use Pentatonic major position 5 (at 9th fret), and for diatonic use E's Aeolian shape at its 6th note (fret 9). So for E minor, you would use E minor barre at fret 12 for arpeggio, minor pentatonic shape 1 on fret 12 and E minor (Aeolian shape) also at fret 12? Thanks again sir!

Honest question. I love this stuff and I’ve become devoted to learning. But, what practical application does this have aside from having fun playing? Just getting together with a few people for a little jam session? Or is it really about just having fun playing guitar?

It’s kinda misleading to call the C# minor pentatonic an E Major pentatonic. The interval pattern that teaches is not a Major interval pattern. The literal E Major pentatonic is also right there, with the correct Major interval pattern, so why not use it instead of a mislabeling the relative minor scale?
@StichMethodGuitar
@StichMethodGuitar 5 ай бұрын
Woah Nelly! Any pentatonic box can be major or minor. That shape is NOT just a minor pentatonic…. Just because the C# is the lowest physical note. That shows me that you don’t know the CAGED pentatonic system. Watch lessons 7 and 8 of my CAGED Primer and it will absolutely open up a new world for you.

I’m not trying to sound rude at all, it’s whoever you learned the pentatonics from that has mislead you. You can also check out my pentatonic debate video. Will offer some clarity.
