Why was the eagle in the stars so hard to see?

That is because the image was sized down to fit in the star field. In doing so the depth required to carve the outline of the eagle was decreased when using the same V-bit that was used on the larger Eagle due to the width of the lines decreasing. One way of carving it deeper would be to use a smaller diameter V-Bit for the Eagle within the star field.
