you can also mask out the creases using the liquify freeze tool then the tool you have used to ensure that the creases don't get liquified when moving the pattern around 🙂

omgggg i have to watch this again! ima follow with you next time though. I have to master this for my custom clothing line. Ive sewn everything in white and now need to add the fabric (pattern) that I customized to the garments for photo purposes. Im trying not to get discouraged. this has really helped. now time to follow along😅

@@AffinityRevolution Hey question....for some reason, when i try to get to the luminosity stage by clicking the mask icon, it doesnt give me the options like you have. It just masks it. So im unable to do the highlights and shadows. Im trying to figure out why. So im stuck at this point. Any suggestions?

I'll have to watch this video a few times before I fully understand it. But this is no doubt, a very useful video. I was wondering what procedure to follow, if the shirt she was wearing already had a design instead of being just white. But that would make the tutorial even more complicated. So for the time-being, I'll run with it. Thank you.

The shirt needs to be blank before you can add a new pattern, but you could use the Inpainting Brush & Clone Brush to remove a logo from a shirt. To learn how, watch this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j9-SjKmcvr-7dJs.html

You might consider a video or course on using affinity photo and/or designer in building a Shopify e-commerce site. There is very little on KZfaq that addresses this need. Love your videos, thanks for your help

Of all the videos I have watched this has to be the most amazing one so far. Incredibly useful in all sorts of photos just for adding a pattern to any solid colour surface that might look better with it. Must try this out soon! Quick q tho: *does it require version 2* ?

Nice tutorial! Have you experimented with the Displacement Filter in v2, using the Red/Green Offset method, either alone or along with the Liquify Filter to mold the pattern to the folds in the shirt fabric? Layer > New Live Filter Layer > Distort > Displace ...

@@AffinityRevolution I just tried it. Two pointers: 1. The displacement filter yields the smoothest results if the underlying fabric layer is blurred a bit. 2. It appears that the pattern art around the outside edges of the shirt could still benefit from some liquify filter work. So, maybe it requires a one-two punch of Displacement + Liquify.

You need to have purchased Affinity Photo 2. Affinity Photo 1 only has the basic mask option. 🙂

Wow! that was a really great tutorial. I'm not going to say this right but there is a way to save those steps and repeat this so you could do this with another pattern or color, isn't there? Adding a mask to the shirt is the most time consuming part, so once you have that done, you can repeat the rest of the process pretty quickly for new patterns. 😊

There is, but for adding patterns to clothing, I think the technique in this video produces a more realistic result. 🙂

Sorry, Affinity Photo doesn't have that functionality. Personally, I just select all my layers and turn them off & on to see the before and after.

Hey this is excellent!! Quick question….I need to add patterns to the same image for my clothing line. Once I do this whole process in the video once, is there a way I can simply insert another pattern and it’s automatically adjusted to look realistic? I have over 50 patterns and I’m hoping I don’t have to do this process 50 times🥹🥹🥹

I don't think there is automatic way to do all 50 at once, but after you've made the mask, it will be much faster to do the other patterns. 🙂
