Lol, he has a flip phone and he WILL NOT get a smartphone! So thank you for this, otherwise I would have had to stand there and read the directions to him, with 8 by 10 glossies with diagrams and descriptions on the back of each one, (ready for Thanksgiving, officer opie?) And now? I get to have a steaming hot shower! I got this done, great video. However my setscrew on the handle was seized, then I stripped the head. I watched another KZfaq video on how to get the setscrew out as it was an Allen Wrench and it was stripped. Used a 6-32 x 1 1/4 stainless Phillips head screw until i can get correct setscrew from Moen....typical Sunday conundrum....Lowe’s carried the temporary screw I used for $1.28.

Thank you for saying the position of the handle. We have had our shower retiled and didn't have the hot water adjustment installed. We had to buy new handle hardware. Saying the handle went to the 9 o'clock position let me know we had full hot water to begin with

Thanks for the demonstration. My new basement bath has the temp set too low and it makes for a chilly shower. I get safety, but, geez, lukewarm isn’t comfortable.

I had the same problem as my water took a minute and a half before it came out a little warm. What I mean by warm is 106 degrees f. The guy would not change it hotter.thanks for the video as this is an easy fix.

What can you do if the 12 o-clock position is still not hot enough? Before I installed this new unit it was fine, but now the water temps still don't get as high as needed with the water traveling 2+ stories. Can the limiter be moved further counter clockwise to achieve this? Thanks!

Ours wont get enough cold water, and when you turn to lowest setting it actually gets a tiny warmer. I appreciate the video and will try looking at that gear piece.

I have a Moen 1222 just replaced the cartridge but there is no adjustment piece and the water is still just lukewarm.. the sink gets scalding hot and so does every where else in my house. Is it just a bad mixing valve?

Moving the limiter clock wide any way water is on cold or hot depending what side the limiter get adjust so the limiter is as full mode operating,

One question. My setting is set to max setting, but my handle only goes from 6 to 10 or 11 and then stops. Is there something deeper that could be restricting it?

is it correct to say this doesn't actual affect the temperature of the water but just limits the maximum temperature that the shower can reach? Is there a way to actually make the shower colder if the notch on the temperature limit is already at 12 oclock position?

I have the same unit, my issue is that I want to take cold showers, right now the water doesn’t get very cold at all, it seems to get warmer when I pass a certain threshold when turning it all the way clockwise.

I’ve done all of this and I’m still getting lukewarm showers, and the pressure drops when I turn to hot water. And ideas?

My issue that the Moen Key Lock is already set to the max for hot water but firstly we have to turn the handle all the way to 10 o'clock before we even get any hot water and then advancing it to the full 9 o'clock position it does not give us the same temperature of hot that we get from our kitchen sink hot tap. The Moen Cartridge was just replaced in the shower about 2 1/2 years ago. Can a Moen 1222 Cartridge deteriorate on the hot side that quickly? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Great video. Unfortunately mine was at 12 o’clock ready. Master bath works great but guest bath has lukewarm Shower . Is it the shower mix valve or something else ? The guest bath is never used for 9 years and has always had this issue .

Greetings! I followed your video to adjust the hot, worked perfectly. However, the coldest cold remains at 20c/68f which is not cold enough for me. The water in my kitchen and bathroom sinks would freeze you, I wanted to get this sort of cold from my shower also. Is this possible with this specific mixing valve? So I would like the hottest hot to be around 115f and the cold, well below 65f. What do you think? Thank you

My problem is not getting water that is really cold. When I first turn on the water it is really cold. Once I use hot water and try to go back to cold water, the "cold" water is only lukewarm and I can never get the water as cold as it was in the beginning. How do I adjust the restrictor so that the water can get really cold water? Thank you in advance!

put that white plastic piece to twelve o"clock and the handle still goes to 9 am, but the water still doesn't get hot like the sink which is 5 feet away?? You think I need a new cartridge, its about 20 years old, a Moen

Just take the white nylon piece out of the system and you than can have a regular valve that works like it should.

So much so many may need to know here and Lefty here has no idea how to be a comprehensive thinker in making a video or otherwise. Apparently Lefty can’t be bothered to take a couple screws out on camera. Are they hard to get out? Are they easy to strip? Are they reverse thread? Did you have the water off? Should it be off or on? Is that as far as the piece can be turned? And a dozen other questions several thousand viewers will come up with because Lefty assumed everyone would know certain things that may or may not be obvious to different individuals. So yes Lefty you have earned a big F- as a comprehensive thinker.

Great video but PLEASE note that it's water heater and not a HOT water heater. If the water was hot it wouldn't need a heater. I even hear professional plumbers make this mistake all the time.
