How to adjust the length of the turbo wastegate arm in the 1.6HDi, the same with 1.6 TDCi non-VNT turbos. This includes the 75bhp and the 92bhp. The 110bhp and more are no this fixed geometry turbo.
If you find this video useful, buy me a coffee: www.paypal.com/paypalme/morem...
The wastegate on the 1.6HDi turbo (non variable geometry type) is there to relieve pressure when the turbo gets spinning above a certain point and/or generates boost above certain threshold. The wastegate in 1.6HDi engines (non variable geometry type, 90bhp) is generally in the opened position (engine off). Once the engine start running the vacuum pump creates vacuum and through the turbo boost solenoid pulls the diaphragm in the wastegate, which in turn pulls the rod to the actual wastegate inside the turbo. Therefore, the wastegate gets closed and the turbo starts spinning.
The length is very simple, you need to see half of the bolt, the left-hand side of the bolt through the hole of the wastegate.
The car is a Peugeot Partner 1.6HDi 2007 (9HXC engine, 92bhp), same as a Citroen Berlingo M59.
If you want to test if the wastegate is actually working, here is a video: • Simple way to test tur...

Great video! I have changed my wastegate and I wish I had this video to help set the arm length at the time! On a related topic.... and top tip for anyone watching this in the future - if you ever change your Wastegate Valve Position Sensor, make sure you replace the rubber O ring as well. I changed my sensor, didn't realise it didn't come with a new O ring, then wondered for ages why I didn't have any suction on the wastegate 😂

I haven’t seen that sensor on my turbo. Would the boost pressure solenoid valve feedback that kind of info too?
@shane555
@shane555 6 ай бұрын
@@meemeemeemeemee it's attached to the end of the wastegate, so should be quite visible. Not sure how the turbo solenoid valve relates to your issue, but I've changed that too, a fairly easy swap over 👍

Hey, love all the videos 🙏 followed most of them step by step 😅 ive got a Citroen berlingo. Ive just cleaned the egr valve and on some forums it also says to remove and clean the intake manifold but i cant find anywhere on how to do it! Would it be possible to make a video 🙏🤗 many thanks for all the help

Was wondering if u have still got your catch cans fitted, Be good to have an update as you’ve plenty of knowledge regarding these Channels great keep up the good work, not the same as my partner but similar

If I want my boost start 0.2 earlier do I extend or shrink?
@moremolecules
@moremolecules 6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, it will not work like that. The ECU is controlling how much this opens or closes with a variety of air pressure sensors. This adjustment is only to be in the normal parameters. If you extend it too much then it will not close and there will always be loss of boost.

Deamm.. year ago i bought Citroen Berlingo with the same engine and few months ago i had fault code P2562 turbo position incorect (previous owner said he changed that vacuum valve) and all mechanics that i called said i need to go to dealer, because they have proper equipment to fix/regulate valve position problem. So i went to delaer and guess how much they charged me 140 euros!! But it did not fix the problem and afterwards i had to buy new (refurbished) turbo. new turbo works thou. When i looked for video how to replace turbo i found your channel. You ar doing a grate thing showing thease videos! Who knows maybe this would help me with that turbo fault.. By the way after driving when i turn of engine, coolant fan is still on for like 3 min (chekked the pannel and after one min engine is cooled down) Any ideas what might be wrong? thermostat? engine now in winter heats up normal and in summer it wont overheat (i have this problem since i got the car :D). At some point it did not worked and mechanic said that Fan motor resistor is not working so i changed that, and the problem with fan spinning is back. Maybe you have had similar situation..

Many thanks for the good words, appreciated. Yeah, the fan is due to a relay at the front of the radiator. Just replace the relay and it will stop.

@@moremolecules I believe it is. Thank you for your videos they’re very good. I have oil in intercooler, have put catch can on but that has stayed dry but lots of oil still getting into the intercooler . I’m guessing I will need to change the turbo cartridge. Do you have a video on this?

@@meemeemeemeemee Yeah, I have 5 videos how to replace the whole thing, first starts here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h52DY9R1p9WXYWg.html I replaced it, but still a bit of oil collects in the intercooler, so most likely not from the turbo.

I have an overboost code on mine replaced the boost sensor controller at the back of the engine. Any ideas on what else could be causing the overboost?
@moremolecules
@moremolecules 4 ай бұрын
Normally the overboost is most likely the turbo controller at the back. Are you sure it is working? Also the little tube that comes out of it and goes to between injectors 2-3 should be really clean there, no muck nothing.

@@Matty-Gribbo Double check if the turbo wastegate is not stuck. Also, when does the overboost happen? What engine is it, 92bhp or the VNT turbos (>110bhp)? If it is the VNT, (probably not) the vanes may be stuck.
@Matty-Gribbo
@Matty-Gribbo 4 ай бұрын
@@moremolecules it’s not VNT, the overboost happens around 3000 revs and on heavy load, usually after gear 2. Baffled my mind to what it could be hahaha.
@moremolecules
@moremolecules 4 ай бұрын
@@Matty-Gribbo It is either the new boost controller getting stuck somehow, say it was not machined very well or the air sensors (MAF or MAP) not working correctly. If you have OBDII scanner or diagbox you can measure all these. Easiest is to unplug the MAF and drive without to see if that changes things.
