I use Clonex Rooting Gel.
In the bag is half n half of sphagnum moss and peat moss, squeeze most of the water. Dont leave too wet or too dry.

It will be a little dry but the roots are still viable. No need to add water, just leave the root ball alone until harvest time when you see noodles of roots. The peat moss really helps retain moisture.

Did you used Canadian green moss or just soil for your air-layer. I did airlayer my AP but it failed I think bc I did not peel the layer under the skin very good( don’t know the name of it) or my rooting hormone was not good. Not sure why? Any suggestion?

Very low success rate on airlayering AP Atemoya. Best to graft known variety to Cherimoya rootstock.
