I was watching 'Bald and Bankrupt' and he mentioned don't worry about the grammar when first learning Russian. Learn alphabet and phrases, etc.

I am just discovering these videos today after finding your podcast about an hour ago. They are all so wonderful! I took 4 years of Russian so some of these are obvious but it is so relaxing to listen to the patient, phonetically accurate explanations. And there is usually something new to learn even in the most introductory lessons thanks to your insights into native usage, idioms, etc.

Hi Daria. I like your videos very much. Just thought to mention that 'my bad' in English is slang. It would never be used in a serious professional situation for example.

Ive heard characters in Russian tv novellas use 'сорри' and I replayed conversation to make sure Id heard it. Other things too, like 'oh my god,' and 'my god.' Those were on homemade videos i think, but sorry was in a wwii mini-series!

Сейчас Я наглядно расскажу то, чего она не знает. Я поясню разницу между ПРОСТИТЕ и ИЗВИНИТЕ. ПРОСТИТЕ говорят тогда, когда чувствуют свою вину за происходящее. ИЗВИНИТЕ же говорят с тем, чтобы тот к кому обращаются сам понял свою ошибку и ВЫШЕЛ ИЗ состояния ВИНЫ ТОЙ. Отсюда такое слово как ПРОСТО, ПРОСТОТА и тд. "ПРОС" это ПРОСьба о чём либо. ПРОшение и тд. А ИЗВИНИТЕ это ИЗ ВИНЫ ТЫ выйти должен. Многие руские даже понятия не имеют почему два слова имеют чуть ли не один смысл, не говоря уже об иностранцах.

We have an another one form of apologize: *Сорян.* [Soryan] Obviously, it's derivative from your "sorry", plus ending -ян which in this case make the word a lot more unformal and colloquial. You can use it only in communication with your friends.

"Сорри" is only English, so I won't never say that, sorry. I (and even friends) used to say "sorry" when in school, and my mother tongue is Spanish. Грасиас за видео.

Very good videos. I'm a little bit older person. Trying to learn Russian. Have no one to practice with. I live in America. Grandmother immigrated from Ukraine. Mom usually spoke Russian with her when we visited her. I speak very little Russian and understand almost none. I usually do not text people like this. Very awkward. Thanks for patience. Глядишь, скоро англоговорящим людям, желающим выучить русский язык, достаточно будет выучить только произношение, а почти все слова будут теми же, что и в английском. По моему мнению, это ужасно. I personally belong to the group of native Russian speakers who can't stand American influence to Russian language.

I would strongly recommend NOT to use Сорри if you dont want to look like a man with critically low IQ. Its more jokingly form used among 15 years old
