Do you have a video on how you created this in your software? I haven’t seen a video yet that explains how to setup you design for applique in the software. I would love to see a video on the basic concepts....I’m not really looking for how to digitize the actual graphic file but how you setup the basting, tack down.....etc. through the software. I hope I was clear (not confusing) in what I’m looking for. I got a lot from this video in how you setup outside the software to embroider....very clear and got some steps to help me out.....THANKS!

Thanks for your response....but based on the recent add to this question, it still proves we would like a video process. I know your designs have it in your purchased file, but I would like to know step by step using the software demonstration to create a design layout to get it ready for the embroidery machine; for example, the first thing you need is to add a tack down first before you blah blah blah....then step two...so forth.....you’re so good explaining things, so you would be good at showing us this process.....sorry, but you are....LOL

I would definitely shop around. Go to your local Sew and Vac and speak with them. Also, local quilt shops sell machines too. The one suggestion I can offer is to get a machine with the largest hoop size that you can afford. Inexpensive machines that you can buy online or from big box stores tend to only have small frames like 4x4. Unless you only want to make baby bibs or left chest logos, you will outgrow the 4x4 hoop really quickly. I love my new @brothersews machines. Good luck!

I have done several appliqués but have never done the heat and bond. Why do you suggest this when the entire piece is adhered with the two step tack down and satin stitch?
@CreativeAppliques
@CreativeAppliques 4 жыл бұрын
most fabrics used for the applique, are cotton quilting fabrics. When sewing them onto a knit which is stretchy, the knit has stretch while the cotton fabric does not. Also when washing the item, they shrink at different percentages and directions. Using the HNBL, it essentially glues the fabric to the knit aiding in the applique material maintaining its integrity. It also helps the fabric to not fray and be pulled away from the stitching

Such a great and helpful video. If making a tshirt for a toddler, before appliqué should I pre wash and dry the tshirt? What about prewashing and drying the appliqué fabric? I’m Trying to avoid puckering after washing. Thanks
@CreativeAppliques
@CreativeAppliques Жыл бұрын
This is the million dollar question LOL And so many factors go into answering this. If you are stitching for personal use and for people you know, then you can wash before stitching. If you are doing this for a business, then it is discouraged to wash before stitching for many reasons. To name a few, the item would be considered "used" if being washed first. Also, buyers being allergic to the detergent can be an issue. Hope this helps!

@terriergal
@terriergal 2 жыл бұрын
I would think you’d have a hard time seeing the reference lines through anything but a light colored shirt. That’s the problem…. How would you line it up on dark, or chambray or denim? Also what about a larger design than fits in the hoop? Is it possible to do something like that? Also where can i get the offset scissors? I used to appliqué pretty complicated designs on a regular machine with a satin stitch but i usually just left the parts of the fabric that would be covered by other appliqués, and I would iron them all together at once and then onto the garment. I’m trying to start up again but it’s hard on regular machines to do a lot of appliqué so I’m hoping to figure out how feasible it is to do it on an embroidery machine to see if I want to invest in one. It looks like a lot of fun. My mother in law has one but she doesn’t do her own pattern design which is what I would like to do.
@CreativeAppliques
@CreativeAppliques 2 жыл бұрын
I would use chalk on a darker fabric. Then put a straight pin into the center of the shirt and line it up with the center of the hoop. Do the same for the side markings. In order to use an embroidery design, the only way a machine can read and embroidery a design is if it fits in the hoop. You cannot embroidery a design larger than the hoop unless you split the design using embroidery software. Here is the link to the scissors I use: amzn.to/3x7atPk If you want to create your own designs to use on an embroidery machine, you will need to purchase software in order to create the file the machine can read. It is not like a regular sewing machine. Embroidery machines have computers in them that need a file to read and then sews that out onto the item.

Chelsea Upholstery I think the machine is the same as the second hand one I jus bought. A Viking Designer 1. Unfortunately the person I ought it from had taken out the embroidery designs and letters and numbers. I didn’t realise, so I can’t embroider. If anyone can tell me how I can put designs back in the machine I would be so greatful.

I think my question is similar to the others. How do you set up the machine to do baste the outline and then redo the outline with a tack down, it's not a normal embroidery and I don't understand how the machine knows the difference????
@CreativeAppliques
@CreativeAppliques 6 жыл бұрын
Linda the placement and the tack down are part of the design itself. All these steps are part of the design. Step 1 sews the placement. The machine will stop. Place the fabric down. Sew step 2 to tack down the fabric. The machine will stop. Then you cut the fabric. Repeat the steps for as many pieces of fabric the design uses. Then you move on to the decorative stitching.

How is that mark going to show through on anything other than a thin white shirt?
@CreativeAppliques

If you cannot see the mark thru the shirt, you can always put a straight pin into the spot and then put a mark where the pin is on the opposite side. Thanks so much for watching!

Curious as to why you used tear-away stabilizer? I'm a newbie, but everything I've read says, "if you wear it, don't tear it." Does this only apply to embroidery, not appliqué? Thanks for a very informative video!

I use a fusible cut away ironed onto the back of the shirt. I hooped the tear away as an additional stabilizer for support.

So adorable!! This was very helpful....thank you so much. I use a water soluble stabilizer for my Free Standing Lace projects, but I'm not sure of the type that you used today. I looked for your water soluble stabilizer on your Amazon list and didn't see it. Can you tell me the name and where I can purchase that light weight water soluble stabilizer? Thank you again and I look forward to seeing more of your very helpful videos!! Claudene

Yes. I have the Brother SE 625 and can do this design. The main difference between our machines and hers is that she can load all her threads on her machine and we'll have to change thread color after each section is sewn if it's a different color.

@@warialdasue you can purchase designs from my website here: creativeappliques.com You will need to purchase the designs then download them to your computer. Once on your computer you will need to unzip the file then transfer the designs to your machine. You will need some embroidery software if you don't have it. Here is a great one I can recommend: www.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/cappliques You would start with the Essentials level software.
