Once the Artesian Stain has completely dried it will need to be sealed. Failure to seal and maintain sealer on the Artesian stain will result in premature wear and fading. We recommend using Brickform Safety-Seal, Gem-Seal, Poly-Seal or Poly-Astic for color enhanced, “wet look” finishes. Use Brickform Satin Seal, a water-based sealer, for a more natural look. Consult the Technical Information Sheet for the sealer you are using. These are available at the BRICKFORM website

The Stained surface will last in high traffic areas as long as you protect the surface with a Concrete sealer. Depending on the amount of traffic the surface will need to be re-sealed about once a year.

If you are using our Artesian water based stain then you should pick an area to test to see if you like the color and the look of the concrete. If you want a brighter color then you may want to think about resurfacing with our SM professional grade micro-topping and then staining the surface.

I poured a stamped patio 6 months ago and used an antique grey powder stamp release. How should I prep the slab before applying color?

I just finished scarifying my driveway, because of a bad acid staining job. It is now back to the concrete gray, but shows a little bit of the aggregate in a few places. Do you recommend that I stain it now, or resurface it and stain it afterwards?

Most helpful video I’ve seen on water based stain . How about using this to fix an acid stain that didn’t take in areas ? I have some water based stain samples. My idea is to wash off the acid stain residue. Then while damp , spray the areas that didn’t take acid stain with the water based . I also have some tinted solvent based sealer . I may use it in some of those areas too once it’s totally dry . Thank you 😊

Can you use a different stain color over the base concrete color?

I wanted to stain our patio; the previous owner had painted it and then glued carpet to it. I used a combination of a scraper, drum sander, and chemical peel and back to drum sander to get all of the paint off. The concrete was a bright white color, to the point you couldn't look at it in the sun, so we wanted to stain it a dark slate color. I went to a local concrete stain store, the owner said that their stain would put a nice even color to it (more so than an acid stain) and the directions he provided for the water based stain were minimal -- it was literally "put into a pump sprayer and spray it in circles". I thought easy enough and did it -- and now my concrete is completely splotchy and it also appears that the stain has settled into these very small cracks that were not visible before - -- it looks really awful, like a dyed cracked easter egg. Do you have any solutions on how to correct the splotchiness? Can I use a roller instead of a sprayer? The stain was really expensive; should we just cut our losses and paint? I really wanted to avoid it, but right now, it looks worse than it ever did.
