This is why lawn care sucks. My instructions for the prodiamine I purchased from YardMastery reads like my wive’s divorce papers. It wants you to mix something like 3.6 oz per gallon of water. So to save time I checked the internet to make sure others are doing the same You will see mixing rates of between 1 -2 tsp per gallon which makes life easier AND a big cautionary note that stipulates that over applying at the recommended rates cause soil microbes to consume the product and render your prodiamine barrier useless. So you are applying this application at about 5 times the stated application rate!!! After looking at the cautionary concerns of prodiamine and all the bs about its application I feel like maybe the average person should not go down this road. It’s like your working with agent orange from the Vietnam era just to maybe suppress weeds IF you hit the magic windows of soil temperature and weed germination Once this bottle of crap is done I’m through with chemicals like this that require moon suits and the tons of misinformation to apply. I truly believe you are better off with the post emergent controls from the big box stores because they are diluted to the point of not causing a cancer spot on your lung and they can be hose end sprayed. It’s just not worth the effort dragging a back pack sprayer around hoping you didn’t apply too much product….whatever the hell that is Don’t go down the prodiamine rabbit hole like I did

Good video but a few questions. 1) After spraying when can you safety walk on it. If you have to drag a hose to water it in will you poison yourself. 2) Do you use a post emergent in summer when some of the seeds still germinate. If so can you recommend one. 3) Can I use St. Augustine grass plugs in the spring to replant the bare spots after using Prodiamine in the fall.

Is Prodiamine a good pre emergent for Ruschia Nana ("dwarf carpet to the stars")? This is a drought tolerant ground cover similar to ice plant. I roto tilled my yard to aerate it, and raked/sifted out dead grass. (I stopped watering my yard about a year ago since I planned to replace it with Nana as ground cover.)

If you do a North-South and East-West application you're double applying, yes?Isn't that too much product?
@nghiaxp3

No, because you should have already measured the proper amount of product for the area you're spraying. Cross spraying just ensures that the proper amount gets evenly distributed.

You're basically spraying half of the product one direction, then the remaining half the other direction.

I had the same question, but this answer doesn't make sense to me
@nghiaxp3
@nghiaxp3 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrFosterForever if you have a 1000sf lot, you should mix 5.2g in 1 gallon of water. Spray half the gallon across the entire lot going N-S. Then spray the remaining half gallon across the entire lot going E-W. You will have effectively sprayed your entire measured product evenly across your lot.
@Dom-pf8wd
@Dom-pf8wd 3 жыл бұрын
@@nghiaxp3 That makes sense, my problem with it is that EVERY time I have sprayed my lawns with several different products (and their individual rates to gallons to area) I haven't had enough to cover that area with ONE pass in ONE direction so unless I start running while spraying I doubt I'll get two directions whether I split the amounts in half or not.

@nghiaxp3
@nghiaxp3 3 жыл бұрын
Do what you need to do to spray half across the entire lot N-S, then the remaining half again across the entire lot E-W. Whether you adjust your walking pace, spray tip, spray pressure, should be up to you and whatever you're comfortable with.

More than likely it didn't have a negative effect but you never know really. Just trust the process and control your controllables. Sometimes the weather will make applications less effective but there is nothing you can do but continue to move forward with your program and hope for the best.

@aoe2geek
@aoe2geek 2 жыл бұрын
It's better to do it too early than too late. Theres actually something called a split application strategy where you do half the amount well before 55 degrees and the other half about a month later at about 70 degrees. The idea is that this provides protection for a much bigger time window to shield yourself against the fickleness of mother nature
