Nothing more exciting than starting a tank and building a scape.

Scape turned out very nice. Good call on cycling the rock while waiting on the tank. I did that on my big tank while prepping the room and setting up the tank. When I moved the rock into the tank, I added fish and Acros day 1.

Heck yes. I’m likely going to re use the sand from my old tank to bring in all that surface are. Also is he 3L siporax seeding in my waterbox. Should make it pretty safe to transfer the fish when I do the swap

Love it! What about the pieces that had bristle worms. Were they still live or do you have to bleach cure any of this? Are all the rocks in lift able sections so you can lift up and put into tank or bin? I am wanting to turn my small 36 into a frag tank and use the rocks from it but need to add a lot more because I am upgrading to a bigger tank. Is that going to set me back a lot on the maturity of the tank unless I get all live rock? I just scared of losing a lot of corals!

The rock scape turned out very nice: I like how you positioned the rock to form different structures. Good call on cycling the rock as you’re setting up the new tank.

Which rock specifically did you end up using for this scape? Just curious.

It’s a bit of a blend but mostly the art reef rock chunks that were previously in the shallow office tank

Can you explain what happend with the glue and cement? So I have reef cement, some fine sand but would every reef glue work?

Not sure what Emarco you are using. The natural is all that’s available here in the States now. I was told they don’t make the gray anymore. I have found the gray sets up faster and seems to be a better/stronger bond. When I first used the natural it would crumble if you messed with after bonding. I thought I had a bad batch. The natural also comes with bits of rock mixed with the powder. I would crunch that stuff up to as close to a powder before mixing. I now let the natural cure for at least 24hours before touching it. It’s a shame you can’t buy the gray anymore. I bet I used 20 buckets of the gray. Pancake batter consistency is what I always went for. Maybe slightly wetter. Love the scape.

I ended up just using sand, nyos cement and liquid superglue. Worked wonders!

They still sell the purple marco cement in the states....also it's best to mix it a bit thicker like actual cement or a touch drier and yea takes ages to cure vs some of these other glue and sand methods but it's so much more solid imo
