I have seen multiple video review/how-to videos for AvalonKing product and so far this one is the best. The others skipped so many important points that this channel covered very well. I bought the product and am ready to apply it to my brand new car as soon as I get a 3 day window of no rain. 👍

Just spent 8 hrs preping and ceramic coating with Armor Shield IX, you are 100% correct in your analysis, I have a 2012 Silver Honda Accord with metal flake paint, I never saw the flash but they say it's hard to see in a light color car, I did the windows and saw the rainbow within seconds on a very humid 80F day, had no problems wiping it off even waiting 10-15 minutes, did larger areas than 2'x2', also did the interior. Preping took a long time since I clayed it and power buffed the swirls out, it now looks better than new.

Hi Seth, Nice video. I’ve just done my second coating of this as I found after 1.5 years the sides of the car were not beading as they used to. The back was fine. I did all the steps and a very fine overall polish just to catch any swirls. I’m a ‘garage queen’ 😂😂😂 that’s what the garage is for after all. If you are new to it it is super easy and I found on both occasions the ‘oil slick’ look was pretty instant. I buy some new towels to buff off as they need throwing away after but it’s not that expensive. You do need 2 bottles IF you want to do all the car, inside the doors, bonnet or ‘hood’ and boot or ‘trunk’ if in USA. I’m in the UK. DIY’er but enjoy doing it. Use a mask when putting on, it’s quite powerful fume wise of open the front and back a bit to get a bit of air flowing through or it can get too much. I did glass except the windscreen and all plastics etc. Overall it works well and makes cleaning so much easier. Personally would do this once a year at a time that makes sense, summer as it really helps to get this coating into the sun to cure it really well but give it 2 days in the garage. Buy it when it’s on offer, there is no need to pay full price. Didn’t use the block when doing detail bits, just the cloth. This makes it easier the get in all the corners. I probably used too much, but it’s better than missing parts. I expect other similar based priced products are the same but I’ve got my head around this stuff now and it is easy. Not sure the blue truck showed the flashing, maybe that is why it was hard to see?? Just subscribed, so will watch your washing etc, always good to get another opinion. If you are in doubt, try it, it is so simple and I’ve always polished a car. This is the first time I have ceramic coated and it’s the maintenance that you benefit from, so easy.

Then 2 coats of ceramic that took a half hour plus each. I recommend a ceramic detailer or maintenance product after 3 months.

Great review Seth you went through everything! I wanted to ask something. If someone takes a brand new car straight from the dealership do you think it’s necessary to do an iron and bag removal and a clay bar application or you would be fine only with the IPA wipe down if the paint itself is in pretty good condition? Thanks in advance I’m looking forward to the long term durability review!
@TurnerMobileDetailing
@TurnerMobileDetailing Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes you absolutely should. Even a brand new car needs to be iron removed and clayed. New cars often collect iron rail dust and or industrial fallout from the transportation process to the dealership from the train and/or boat they ride on. Also, if they’ve been sitting on the dealer lot for a while, they can collect industrial fallout since often dealerships are in or near business and industrial zoned areas. I recommend Adam’s iron remover and nanoskin fine clay mitt. Be gentle and use ONR for lubrication.

Thanks for this video ... Gonna wait for the right time to Apply my Avalon King to our 3 month old 2022 Ford Explorer s it is March , I live in NY on Long Island so gonna wait for some warmer weather . Figured I would start on the hardest area to reach the roof of the vehicle ... would you say I can coat over the moon roof and molding /plastics that surround Moon roof seems like I can coat glass and surrounding area ... Thanks , regardless of hard long this product hold up , I happy to hear that it buffs off fairly easy and the wait time ( flash time ) as you mention is sort of non existence within reason ... Just wanted to do something that makes the paint pop ... I have always been neurotic with my vehicles since I was a teen so Ill make sure to wash vehicle myself and whenever she goes into the deal for service I will do what YOU said and tell em " dont do anything to the paint etc ... I just used this on a black 08 IS250 in a garage at about 70*+ F and initial application it laid down in a rainbow/oil slick color. Seemed to flash pretty quick. I still waited 1min+ until wiping it off. I'm sure this blue truck may make it hard to see a green/purple/blue hue.

The applicator sponge and towel combo seems like a convoluted way of applying the coating. Would you be able to use a simple microsuede mini applicator sponge made for ceramic coatings like the ones from Adam's etc?
@TurnerMobileDetailing
@TurnerMobileDetailing Жыл бұрын
Yes, just make sure the applicator is lined with plastic under the outer suede layer. This prevents the stuffing of the block from absorbing all your product. This is why the cloth wrapped around the applicator block is often used because the block won’t really absorb the coating, it stays on the cloth and thus able to be applied to the surface, instead of being lost inside an applicator block.

Hello, you metioned low profile microfiber for buffing off the ceramic after flashing? what type of low profile (weight) microfiber towel should I gert from Rag company? and what high profile microfiber towel do I need and what is it for?
@TurnerMobileDetailing
@TurnerMobileDetailing Жыл бұрын
Low profile just means low pile. So fro Rag Co I always use the edge less pearl as my initial buff/removal towel, and the eagles creature as my secondary and final buff towel. The pearl is to initially remove the solvents and to level the coating, and the second, the high pile creature is to buff to perfection.

I applied this coating (Armour Shield IX) on my car as per instructions (did full paint correction on the car prior to application including iron removal, polish, isopropyl wipe down, car set for 72 hours in garage before being driven) , had a great result until first rain (about 5 weeks after application). I washed the car about a week after its been in a rain and was left with a lot of hard water spots on hood, roof and trunk lid. None of available water spot removal products worked (tried Adams, Chemical Guys and few others) - even light polishing still left a bunch of water spots on the car... I never experienced this kind of persistent spots when using waxes. Any idea how to remove them? Thanks!
@TurnerMobileDetailing
@TurnerMobileDetailing Жыл бұрын
That’s a tough one. When you did some light polishing, what product did you use and how did you do it? I sounds a lot like the minerals in the water actually etched the surface instead of just sitting on top of the surface. Did the polish remove any of the spotting or none at all? If it did remove some but not all, then that tells me the surface is etched and maybe a little further polishing is necessary. Then of course the coating would need to be reapplied because the polish will most likely remove the coating also. Unfortunately a lot of these cheaper consumer coatings need to have a sealant applied over top especially for the first few weeks during curing to protect it from things like water spotting. Avalon King doesn’t say anything about that in the instructions so I didn’t even think to mention it.
@RC_stuff
@RC_stuff Жыл бұрын
@@TurnerMobileDetailing Yes, most spots came off, but there are bunch that are more persistent. I was under the impression that having the ceramic coating on the car would eliminate the water spots. I now use Meguiars ceramic detailer after every wash (kind of defeats having the car ceramic coated) - the extra layer helps with spots...
@TurnerMobileDetailing
@TurnerMobileDetailing Жыл бұрын
@@RC_stuff that’s a problem with some DIY coatings unfortunately. Like I mentioned before it’s usually a good idea with these type of coatings to put a sealant over a fresh coating so it can cure and the sealant will prevent water spot etching and like damage. In your case the coating should have been cured enough to not spot like that. That kind of tells me that this product takes a long time to cure or maybe worse, it’s not that great. I’m gonna be checking on the truck this month so I’ll see how well it held up for myself. So for your car I would polish out the remaining spots and either reapply a coating or just keep using the Meguiars. But just know that not all coatings do this, there’s good and bad ones just like anything else.
