Great instructional Mike. I really liked seeing you catching fish from shore. I've seen three fishermen break flip flops in videos this week, ha ha...Glad you didn't flip flop into the water.

@@BAND-MAID-USA A bearing packer, or the grease in the palm of your hand, tapping the bearing into a dab of grease. Grease must be forced into the race and rollers not just smeared on the out side.

I'm not a hater so please don't take this the wrong way. But have pretty much did everything wrong. Maybe you should watch some videos yourself and learn how to do it properly. This could be dangerous stuff.

Been doing it that way for years with no issues ..and that exact tier and hub are still on. Im sure there is more than one way to do it.

@@JETTIEROCKSFISHINGwithMIKED Timken bearings are very strong. You could get away with a lot. You need to look at some videos on how to properly pack bearings, rubbing grease on them is not the way. Pre-loading the bearings is also very important. You need to tighten the castle nut as hard as you can then back it off, it usually comes out to about a quarter of a turn until the hub could freely be rotated. Having the castle nut even hand tight is not what you're looking for. There should be a washer between the castle nut and the front bearing. Thanks for your effort.

I was looking for a refresher on this and I now remember the importance of doing it the way they say. Will probably be ok your way but I prefer better than ok. Thanks for your time and sharing.

Give them a coat of grease I just replaced hubs axel and leafs all came apart with ease as I greased every nut and bolt when new

I would have used some emery cloth on you axel that rust will eat up your seal I know mine did had to replace my whole axel this yaer

Great video Mike! Knock on wood I’ve not had a hub failure while on the road yet. One trick I was shown by one of the old salts down here was to carry a cheap IR temp gun in the truck. And quickly check the temps of the hubs when I stop either on the way to launch or before dropping the boat. And as far as the flip flop blow out, man I hate when that happens while fishing. A few years ago I had my sandal blow out while 1/2 mile out on the jetties here. Talk about an interesting walk back to the truck! Thanks for bringing us along buddy!

WTF you have to preload the the bearing a little then back off the Castle nut making sure you have the correct tension on the bearings before putting the pin

That is not how you pack a bearing DS. Is all you did was smear grease on it !

All that grease is more expensive than the damn hubs. Is it really necessary to have that much grease in the bearing buddy also? Awesome video.

Never ever tap the seal or bearing buddy with steel hammer itself. ALWAYS Use the brass mallet or block of wood or softer metal over the part you hammer in.

Those impacts are handy huh? I have a couple cordless ones at the shop which are great but when the batteries die that cord impact is always there to assist. On average how long do you think those trailer hubs last?

Yea those impacts are a time saver...with as much as i fish..the hubs usally last me two years or so...the hubs i just changed wer old..i just got this trailer last year and im not sure how old the hubs wer

Well actually..the one that came off was from the factory ...the one I put on lasted me till I sold this trailer 5 years later.. so apparently I did it right..just saying
