Hi Ben, this is a great video. I am new to skateboarding (April 18) at 32 and I tried a Axel Stall drop in (as I am a wimp), I hung up and fell flat on my stomach and fractured my ribs. Was out for 6-7 weeks! I will defo try from a much smaller ramp next time but trying to perfect my rock to fakie and nail my first tail stall! Keep up the great work, Tom from York in the UK

@@leanfoe I know this is late, but in my opinion having both trucks locked against the coping is easier because when I have my back truck barely on I end up already getting a lot of speed kick turning in and I end up slipping off the board

Great advice, I nailed one of these for the first time this morning (relearning to skate at 33). I definitely practiced dropping in from the stall position for a bit on the 2-3 ft ramp until I felt comfortable. Hopefully I’ll be able to move up to the 4ft ramps soon 👌

Great tips, sir. I’d also suggest including reference to foot placement. It’s my experience this move is easier with toes flush to the side of the board and heels of the feet hanging off. That way, it takes minimal effort to one’s heals to get the trucks up.

Oh man great video, I've been doing the "powerslide up" for years on bigger ramps and I always thought I was weird and it was a bad habit that I needed to kick - because you can't use that technique on ramps with a pool coping that really sticks out. So I tried to force myself to do a clean turn to sort of pivot my way into the axle stall but the higher the ramp the more I slide up because I get scared, just like you explained :-) I still haven't gotten to the bottom of this but I think it has to do with speed as well... if you're going a little too slow then that slide-up helps, if you're going faster a clean turn might do, and if you're really fast you'll sometimes have to angle into the 50-50, just to go somewhere with the excess energy. It's odd, I've been doing this stuff for years but I still haven't figured it all out... I also agreee that it works better on 149s and decks above 8 inches but I never thought about the grind grooves helping you gain stability. One other thing that helped me were wheels with a more square side cut, so you're more confident in locking against the coping. On that note: Can anyone explain to me how to crosslock consistently? I tend to do heel-locked 50-50s which some people find more stylish but they're a bit unstable, too.
@SamSam-ed5lv2 жыл бұрын
Last time I tried, my truck hung up on the copping and I just fell forward really hard Thank god I’m okay Since then I tried it a couple times, I can lock both my trucks into 50-50 but I just can’t drop in again cause I’m traumatized from my last experience Will defo try it again with your advice and I wish I saw your video earlier 🙏

That odd I feel backside stuff is easier then frontside when my back is to the ramp it make me nervous even frontside kick turns I have trouble with. I’m gonna start working on them tomorrow at the skate park when I go. I skated when I was young and was a maniac but I am now 40 and it been rough on my body started about 4 days ago took me 1 run and then the next day I dropped in again. But I’m pulling muscles in my legs cause my body not use to it but having so much fun. Skating through the pain to get my body use to it I have no choice I’m sure after a few week or a month th it will go away. Also not to good at going down the ramp backwards anymore when I get high in the transitions want to learn fakie rock and roll but I guess I should learn the 50/50 stalls again first there easier for me

Which park is it again?
@tbg6nb3 жыл бұрын
For me, fs axle stall was a lot easier to learn. While doing the bs it happened really often that my front truck landed way behind the coping or I could not find the right balance at the top, probably because of leaning too much backwards. Obviously, coming back is much easier with the bs because you see where you are going to, but placing the tracks on the coping was a lot harder for me this way, specially when riding fast.
