Learning how to handstand has been a lesson in failure for me, I'm a few days short of completing 365 days of continuous HS practice and can maybe balance freestanding for 20secs 1 attempt out of 10.

I underestimated this skill so much, I though it would take me like 1 week and I'm in the fourth month now, I can balance for 20s if I kickup right, but that's like 1 out of 30 tries, it's still fun to practice though, so I'm not worried

@@jakev0895 I didn't dedicate that much time to it. Maybe like 10 min after every workout. You progress as you keep doing it. I used to a wall when first learning my first handstand pushup. I peaked at doing about 17 handstand pushups, but haven't been training in that area as much so I can probably only do like 8-10. Just keep practicing and you'll get better.

Nice tips, thanks. I would add something that Tapp Bros emphasise (which is implied by what you taught here, but not stated directly...): focus on keeping your weight centered on the area of your palms under your knuckles -- leaves you with ability to press one way or the other (fingertips or heel of palm) around that balance point. Very much like your 2nd corrective balance approach by opening/closing shoulders (planche movement with angle of arms to upper body) -- nobody really talks about this, will give it a try. There is a guy at KTS Fitness who has got some good exercises (stomach facing wall) that include one that is a planche with arms followed by pulling the feet off the wall -- teaches muscle and coordination to pull you from falling toward your stomach side (pretty much all my balance problems involving falling in that direction)

If anyone wants a more clear representation of what he means by 'lots of micro corrections,' try standing on one foot with your eyes closed! It feels extremely similar in a way, you need to be hyper aware of where on your foot you're pushing off of and constantly changing it to maintain balance.
