Mark, this video was great! I just officiated my first wedding for one of my wife’s friends who needed an officiant at the last minute after a couple of options dropped out. I was ordained That Night thru Universal Life Church and that was that! After I performed at the wedding, literally everyone that mentioned my performance said I was terrific and that I should officiate professionally. I am seriously considering this second career path and your videos helped a lot as I prepared. I look forward to watching more!

Leonard, it's been 2 years since you posted about a potential wedding officiant career. How are you doing? I just did a wedding this weekend after watching every video by Mark....I feel like I did a pretty good job if "Imustsayso". Curious about your track after your first one. Mike

Just fyi for those reading this thread: Florida allows us to officiate weddings if we are a Commissioned Notary Public. (which is exactly what has me exploring adding wedding officiating to my menu of services)

Very informative Mark!!! Thank you!!! I will be looking at buying your course! Sounds like it would be all conclusive, easy step by step! :-)Then practice before actually doing it for real! Practice makes perfect! I point out practice makes perfect and would like to suggest to anyone wanting to do this to ask couples you know if they would let you use them for practice! I already have 3 people who would come to my home and help me in practice sessions! Thanks again!!! :-)

Hey congrats on that! And thanks for your kind words. In Ontario, you need to be either a judiciary or a member of the clergy in a provincially recognized denomination. All the best to you is you get into it!

Mark Help! I have watched nearly all of your videos. They have been a HUGE help. Next week is my first time (and hopefully last) as a wedding officiant for a friend from college. I’ve got everything planned out meticulously and now he tells me they don’t want to say anything doing the exchange of the rings. The bride is worried she is going to be crying and won’t be able to speak. The problem is there is a unique quote I’ve incorporated into the ring exchange that is printed on the program! If I scrap that then it’s going to be confusing for everyone. What are some alternatives to the following: take the ring and repeat after me: “take this ring to be consecrated to me as my wife according to the faith which unites our lives. I do the very best I know how the very best I can and I mean to keep doing so until the end”. The second part is the quote. Could I tell the audience to just think about this quote as they place the rings? Thanks!

Yes! I think that will work out perfectly. You have a Skill Mark. Audiences are lucky to have you. Thanks for your help.

Hello, just finding out about you, love your videos and looking forward to your course. Quick question...I'm assuming I have to get the couple's permission first to use the photos w/them in it. How do I go about that? How do I get permission, should this be part of my intake form? TIA
@unboringwedding
@unboringwedding 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and for your question, Alisha! It's a GREAT question! In my Pro course I talk about contracts, and in my contract when the couple books me, they sign off on any an all media use from images or scripting from their wedding. That's when that permission gets covered. Of crucial importance is getting the permission from the photographer as they hold the copyright for any and all images they've taken and must be used with permission. So make sure you connect with photographers at the weddings you officiate and ask them for photos - and permission to use them. Much success to you and I love that you're considering joining us as an Unboring!Wedding member!

I have already registered with a wedding broker, I have never done a wedding so I thought some experience would be a good idea. But When I am ready to branch out on my own you are saying I will need a new name? Which is ok because I put no thought into my business name. But is it ok for be to market on my own and through them

Mark, thank you for the video, I have a question and I don’t think you talk about this in any of your great videos. Dress attire depending on the wedding and the age of the officiant.
@unboringwedding
@unboringwedding 11 ай бұрын
Oh great question I get asked that a lot! My response is always two words: classic formal. That’s going to mean different things in every country all over the world, and that’s why I don’t get into specifics - but when the officiant or celebrant shows up wearing classic formal attire, they will never go wrong.
