You worded it so perfectly. "When you don't have the other three steps taken care of in your day. Then relaxation is a form of procrastination or avoidance." This spoke heavily to me because I've been relaxing way more than I should. Therefore, I feel guilty for relaxing and not completing what is important to me during the day. I'll be taking your advice and slowly implementing it. Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information!!

That is so interesting, the idea that the relaxation without work feels more like avoidance rather than reward for a successful day is that I concluded after coming home from work taking intentionally time to not consume anything yet to hear what are the thought os this part of the day. I am really appreciating your videos at this time of my life when I am living alone for a month when my partner is away and being alone time increases while I don`t want to be afraid of feeling alone sometimes.
@bombsfadeaway4 жыл бұрын
While I don’t live alone, I live with a partner who has a lot of solo projects going on (we both work very part time from home, so “alone time” is also how we don’t get on each other’s nerves), so I often end up trying to find ways to fill my own time during the day. Lately with everything going on I’ve felt aimless, but I like what you said about honing a new skill day by day. If I start things now, where will I be in 2, 5, even 10 years? Making a sort of schedule for myself I think will help immensely. Glad to see another video from you!

I love how your cupboards close. Having a dog really helps me get outside! This happened as a side effect and I love that this has helped me. I like how thoughtful you are with your ideas in general, like oh I'm going to make a habit of reading the comic and watching the film. Honestly, my way of going about relaxing is watching waaaay too many youtube videos, especially debates. I think I should be more thoughtful of how I consume, like only watching my subscribers content.

"Growing a skill is also a great way to recognize the time that's passing" HOLY FUCKING COW! One of those things we all "know" but never actually "notice". Lefie! I just looked you up yesterday because I was thinking I hadn't seen an upload from you in so very long! Glad you're doing well in this hard, sad and strange time we are living through! *Tongue click* back at you. I enjoyed this video very much. It's a nicely streamlined version of messages from the world at large, and I feel especially struck by the idea of ensuring I am creating and consuming in roughly equal measure, and refreshed by the discovery that I'm not the only person on the planet who recognises that being outside to get fresh air and vitamin d doesn't have to involve moving to get exercise too. I'm definitely in this type of boat. I can see my family during this quarantine period, but it's not really enough, much as I love them. I spend most days alone, and you're right: it's like everything becomes this big blob of pointlessness in terms of time. I need some sort of structure, and was wallowing in despair for a while. I decided today (yesterday? I forget) to try to overhaul my life, because i feel like I'm just sitting in a foggy area in my life, and going nowhere. So it's funny you posted this today, as I definitely needed it. Congrats on your new place, Lefie! And the comic idea is great. I don't watch movies or tv often, but it sounds like a fun thing to compare the original to the screen adaptation. Although, that could also be frustrating. Depends on the viewer I guess.

I’ve missed your voice! Might be a weird compliment but as soon as I hit play and you started taking I was like “ahhh contemplation with Lefie” and felt cozy. 😅 A lot of what you were talking about echos much of what I’ve been reading about currently in Atomic Habits! I would highly recommend it, I’m about 3/4 through at the moment and it’s super digestible/practical. A friend and I are working together individually to get our routines in order and what you discuss here felt similar to stuff we’ve been discussing as we read the book. I know times are weird right now to say in the least, but hope you’re as well as life allows! 💛 I’d love to see a video on your art progression eventually, but if that’s a habit just for you, then obviously disregard the unsolicited request haha.

Hey there. Nice to see you. :) (I'm waving but you can't see that). Even though I work from home anyway this has been hard on me. For some reason being told to stay at home has me thinking I have to stay in the house - or more precisely, in my room. I've forgotten how to go outside. And that's not good. But I have forced myself to learn some new things during this time. The company I contract with had installed a new program which I've avoided like - well, COVID. But I finally took the time to learn how it works, to find out how it doesn't work and to make it work for me. I have daily headaches when I'm done working but I also feel like I've had a good mental workout. Those old brain cells are tired but full of new knowledge. I do find I'm tracking time and more so tracking each individual item of work I do during the day. My job is very much efficiency-driven and so tracking how long it takes to do a thing and move to the next helps me not only feel productive but actually earn more money.

I agree! I'm a loner who lives with another loner, and routines help me to thrive! I go outside on walks as much as I can with chronic pain. Art and indoor/balcony gardening, as well as keeping a tidy home with loads of natural light and negative space keep me feeling good. Oddly, collecting rainwater for my plants is wonderfully calming. I did join an online dating application, so that has been a difficult and painful process that has helped me grow in wisdom. Great video! Love from The Hague!
