We desire to have partners who consistently value us and the relationship. We want a partner who steps up. This desire stems from a need that we’d like our partner to meet. Not surprisingly, when things get comfortable in the dating and relationship scene, people’s effort subsides leaving us wondering why they no longer step up. Other times, the other person just does not see our value and the value we bring in his life and in the relationship, or just cannot see the value of the relationship at all, so they stop putting in effort. In such situations, what should you do?
In this video, I’ll give you examples of when a man is not putting in effort or not making you a priority in his life. I will share with you examples of how a high value woman communicates her standards to her man and what to say to inspire him to make you a priority and be high value in his eyes. The communication techniques you will learn will help you communicate your needs to him from an empowered state and without sounding needy. The most important thing to remember is to realize your value yourself and show him that. You are too good to be with someone who doesn’t value you enough. 😂 yep 👍 My Dad taught me about soft words but I never knew about the action thing until I watched your chanel. I have used it once or twice in my marriage since (not big actions, smaller ones) and you're dead right Mark, it works. I can't speak for other women, but I think my fear in taking action is that it will somehow hurt the guy or damage the relationship. I've found that the opposite is true, my husband seems to respect me more and there is more love between us. Thanks for your insight Mark 🙂

Not happily. Women like me have a REALLY hard time causing the same pain and rejection for someone else that we've been put through time and time and time again. It's exponentially harder being on that side of it, so to say a woman should "happily" reject someone suggests enjoying causing someone else the same pain and rejection as she's received in the past. Not okay, and not a high-value woman.

My relationship is hanging on by a thread because I never learned how to be a receiver. Constantly giving. Its exhausting, and I'm almost 50. I have two daughters. I don't want them to ever feel the way that I have in relationships, always. Your videos are helpful. Being a priority to me is what I think it is to most women, most people. Being 'the one.'

Very beautiful scenery and really reasonable advice. With my boyfriend who doesn’t prioritise me I tend to get emotional and nagging when he disappoints me again and again because I’m just procrastinating on the step five now as I’m scared of the break up 😣

Actually, it is true. I have been there with my person. He was being slacking, laziness and such. I felt like 2nd option. It didn’t matter how I tried to explain him nicely couple of times. Finally.. know what shook him up? I explained him how much I can only do much. I can’t do more than I already do. I refuse do more. Ridiculous. So. I told him.. okay. It is entirely up to him if he wants to continue this relationship. He got to step up. Basically he has to put his effort in as much I do. To be fair.. we fought but it has more to do with communication issue. 2-3 months later.. I see him greatly improved. I personally know he wouldn’t put himself in a position to lost me. Can’t say I’m impressed. What changed? I tell him my standard/boundaries repeatedly even if he won’t listen. You can give him a choice by walk away. Let him decide. You will have your answer. I definitely did!

Just walk away if you think you feel mistreated. Taking you for granted, I mean. Just being you. Don't do anything for anyone else. He will learn to come to appreciate you.

I think I brought the hammer down too fast at the end because he had no car and no license and no way to come and see me. I had to do all the work in the relationship to go and see him. Every time I mentioned it he gave excuses why and said he didn't want to talk about it and left me no choice to just end it after 2 1/2 years. It was an hour drive both ways and I took him to doctor appointments and grocery shopping, you name it. And I live in a really cool tiny house on wheels off the grid and he could care less whether he came to see me. I'm feeling really over it.

Excellent video! Top quality content, and very helpful communication tips for many different contexts and relationship types. The roleplay where Jermia was asking to have one night a week without video games so you could talk and connect brought me right back to my last relationship. It was like pulling teeth to feel heard, seen, and appreciated, and exhausting trying to plan activities that we'd both enjoy. It's not surprising that relationship didn't work out. You have to figure out when the two of you have just stopped putting effort in and fallen into a lazy routine (which can be remedied), and when you're simply incompatible.

Hi Mark & Mark's Team :) I don't have a special man in my life...... yet :) Mind you travelling solo is preferable to being with someone for the sake of it. But your wisdom, knowledge, awareness I will keep under my belt. Men can be like puppies :) you can train them but its up to us to not lower our boundaries & standards. Speaking up can take courage but things won't improve if you don't and their are skillful and respectful ways to do this. No flaky man/friend ever reacted this way. Instead they get defensive and come up with excuses why they were busy. I personally advice to not date such people anymore. Unless they explained upfront and not last minute that they couldn't make it and proposed next date to meet. This is common courtesy.

Same here. It's gaslighting. It took a marriage therapist to help me realize I was married to a covert narcissist, and he was gaslighting me. A person should respond to this kind of communication in a healthy manner, if they are not a toxic person. Do you find he often makes things about how you communicated it instead of the problem you brought up? That's what toxic people do.

I’m still baffled by people who think that men’s standards matte to me MORE than my own. They think that if the guy shows up or wants me, that’s all that’s important. Uhm, NO! What matters to me is what I want and how I am treated. Him wanting me or showing up isn’t a sign of how much values me. His effort and investment is. Last year, I had someone encourage me to be available last minute, for someone who’s wishy washy, doesn’t keep contact, hasn’t even shown interest and cancelled on me before. That makes no sense. I didn’t do it. I value myself too much.

Mark, I’m not into these kinds of videos/advice but I’m about to purchase your book purely because you can tell you have the most purest soul, you are very real and relate-able & a delight to watch/listen to. So obviously I’m purchasing through audible haha . I’m in my late 20s with children and had recently gone through a bad split when I came across your videos and they gave me so much confidence and energy in moving forward for what’s best for me, and getting back out there, so thank you! I would love your opinion on intimacy as we as women are always told to wait. But what if you’ve got a strong emotional connection to somebody amongst a lot of lust that you both mutually want to explore the s*xual connection. Is this a rookie mistake? Or can emotions/commitment come later? Not sure if you’re still doing the Ask Mark videos but #askmark

Here's my reasoning: If he's not seeing my value, he must be not intelligent. If he's not intelligent, I'm not attracted to them. If I'm not attracted to them, I won't take extra steps to make them see my value.

Very good conversation examples. Unfortunately I cannot control my emotions like the girl. If I ask for something like connection and he is responds with - Do I have to? I will go insane. Like - why are you in a relationship, wtf I am sorry, I do realize that this is not the way to speak to a man, but this behaivoir is very triggering for me. I would explode and tell him Goodbye! And the day after I would regret my reaction and try to apologize. Which would not be a win for me. But I literally get so pissed off by that laziness and neglect. I know it is not the guy's intentions but wtf! Hopefully I will change and build my patience one day but now I break up with my bf everytime he says something rude. I cannot stand this behaivoir. It really triggers me. I don't want to loose him. He is my loving. And I try to withhold myself but I manage 30% of the time. This is very very hard for me

I’m glad you said something because I ABHOR when someone tells me to “respect” a man’s fragile ego when I have demands / expectations (that he’s clearly and continually not meeting). If I have to “be softer” in my approach to keep him from being upset, I DON’T WANT HIM. If a man’s ego is THAT fragile where I can’t be DIRECT with him, the universe can KEEP his ass. SO sick of the mindset that people think women need to be soft / cater to a man just to get what we deserve / need. FUCK THAT. I ABHOR that they teach women this and I ABHOR and instantly lose respect for ANYONE that says this to me!!!!

Should I ask if he's dating another woman? It was very difficult to know what was on his mind. And I don't want to ask him many questions for fear that he will leave thinking I'm so obsessed which I'm not, I'm just this kind of person who doesn't want to waste my time. Do you know what I mean?

I like this a lot I think that I have found that I don't know how to express myself well... I told him I don't I won't marry him a year ago and he's still sticking around but he does not value me either because I he told me if you marry me you'll be higher on their priority list.. I prefer to hear if he will be my wife that I don't and I cherish and like where's the actions he thinks asking me to do things and asking him he asked me to go to places but all the tiny little detail that's involved in a passionate loving fundamental relationship that you know you want to eventually get married they aren't really there like leaning against the car and making out or just making out even if the kids are there maybe that's not appropriate if his son is around his son is not like me his son is not like my son and he's 11 years old his son I'm just turned off with this on there.... He has a son 4 days a week so now that his son's schedules changing for school then that means him and I have a different schedule because his son has different schedule.... My instincts telling me that I don't want to marry him. I just like him for intimacy but we don't really have that either because he is so good at flirting with me and inviting me over..it's hard to be honest with myself... Because what am I losing and not being with him what am I missing out on...(?)

When a man take the responsibility of any girl it's obvious that he has chosen that girl for their life, but when a man take any girl as granted then it's not possible , and l have learned it from my life , my way as well life strategy is different, because l don't like to beg anything from anyone, lastly relationship word is very easy but maintaining a true relationship is too tuff, last but not the least l am not so cheap and easy so who made or making me as his priorities is not so very important , what l make and what l want is very important , honestly l don't believe in any relationship except one , l don't want to mention this as its too lengthy now , anyway thanks , always nourishing, adjusting with others , balancing these all things girls always do , can you please tell me why always guys take their step back from all these , however long discussion so not to waste time for one man to making as his priorities specially l haven't enough time for this. Oof! That video games part really ruffles my feathers a bit. LADIES, protip from a female gamer - NEVER INTERRUPT THE GUY when he's on a match, especially if it's ONLINE. Sometimes, it's life or death for him and his team. CHEER HIM ON, better yet, GET KNOWLEDGEABLE about the game he's playing, so he KNOWS you KNOW how important it is to him, THEN, he'll be more receptive to whatever YOUR NEEDS are. After the match is over, or there's some downtime in-game, like his character is in a queue or lobby, THEN ask him what you WANT. OR, "hey, babe, after that mission/match/boss battle, can I talk to you about something? Thanks!" Ladies, some games CANNOT BE PAUSED, some CAN but it ruins the momentum...then he has to recollect his thoughts...and now he's annoyed with your little girly needs cuz you ruined his groove.

How about putting a video together for her on how to make her man a priority and put him first, not just in word but in practise to. She says you are important to me and love you and adore you, BUT the actions tend to make this questionable..
