Thank you. I so need this exercise. My balance is horrendous. I walk like a "drunken sailer straight off the ship" as the saying goes and stairs are very challenging. Much appreciation Will

Oh dear! I broke my foot in 2 places last Saturday. So uneventful, I stubbed my toe on furniture in the middle of the night on the way to pee a journey done thousands of times😢 stairs are a massive challenge and walking is killing my hip more than the injury. It’s the un-even height of the walking boot. This video is something I can aim for hopefully. A new injury so a long way to go and my instinct is already telling me it’s going to be more than 6 weeks to recover 😢 The emotional toil is worse than the injury knowing I need to manage my recovery and activity, there’s no way to speed up broken bones despite nutrition and vitamins.

Reading your story of breaking you foot in 2 places on a pee journey; passing on a tip;to avoid those kinds of injuries, many years ago I purchased a small flash light which I keep by the bed. I use it every time I get out of bed to walk. I hope this tip helps you and many others who read it. Wishing you an uneventful recovery.

I have PT twice a year, to maintain what strength I have. I am an 80yo widow, I live alone, and am still very active, but my muscles lose strength over the course of the year. So these exercises will help me keep the strength I get from my PT sessions. Going to show my therapist this tomorrow.

Thanks, useful. One issue is looking down and identifying the step edge for safety. Some steps have a white edge which is helpful. Others do not. I think the wide steps down when you exit the British museum are paticularly concerning esp when coming out into bright daylight or even the rare weather event sunshine. Tips please

Great instructional video (as always) but while watching the first exercise segment I became a bit concerned that if using a chair with pillows there could be an issue with the chair moving/tipping backwards as you sit down so it might be advantageous to place the back of the chair against something stationary such as a wall to prevent the chair from moving. PS: Love Three Tip Fridays! (no pun intended)...🙃

Will, Many thanks for this important guide. I regret, my knee strength must be so poor that I struggle doing either of these exercises. It’s possible on the first, my starting position wasn’t high enough. But I also found the toe touch down extremely hard to do? Any options please for a more gradual progression to these two exercises - I feel sure they’d help me if I could do them. Ken
