This is all such great advice. Communication is so important. My fiance came out to me this new year and she is finally beginning her transition. When she came out to me we talked and cried for weeks. So we make sure to regularly check in with each other. She is my best friend and seeing her happy means the world to me.

YES!!! 🎉❤🎉 Gosh, it took me 40 years to finally understand and accept I am trans. It was another 10 before I began E and a T blocker. Oh, even without the conceptual categories and terminology, I knew I had some kind of gender incongruence when I was 3, I knew it yet more deeply at 5. I’ve never had a period in my life without it and until I started HRT, the cyclic think in sans resolution occupied far too much of my mental effort. I knew that but I couldn't stop it, even with years of therapy, 12 step sobriety, and antidepressants. I am SO joyous and content just on HRT, even without enormous physical changes yet taking place. I’ve been on E for 11 months, T Blockers for 5. I’ve no plan for surgeries but I also know people change, I change; I also don't have great health insurance and I am not wealthy. I like what you said about not having to follow a prescribed or precise roadmap laid out by others, thank you for that! One of the things that kept me stuck and confused for so long was that the “trapped in the wrong body” description didn't, resonate with me. I just wanted dearly to be a woman but I also cognitively accepted that I was not born with a woman’s body - why wouldn't that dissonance make me trans? I wasn't born ‘wrong’, rather I was prohibited from being authentic, from living according to core and probably intrinsic inclinations key to my person. I ‘identified as’ a crossdresser for decades because that ‘activity’ was the only thing available to me to reach some vague semblance of a woman, fleeting moments where I could see myself as I desired to be and how I felt my inner most self is. It never helped that trans and LGB people spoke of cross dressers with derision. Nor did it help to hear transwomen telling me I was not really trans because I wasn't following their precise path. The effect that had was for me to doubt my own experience even more and to feel I should be ashamed. It told me loud and clear that I had no community or support for the way I am from the very people who were most like me. Frankly, had it not been for transmedicalists instilling more doubt by lauding the shining purity of their own paths and enshrining them as cannon, I’d likely have sought medical help much sooner. They told me I wasn't trans or not trans enough and for a while I believed them. They have no idea the harm they inflict.

I decide to go though HRT on MTF few months ago , we' ve being married for 38 years, when I told my wife, she says she knew this was coming, it was ? Of when to her. The moment my heart was so full of joy , and live her more ! You two are experienced it so great to see you two look happy, just like any cupple I am sure there is up and down, thing is trust, communication is very very important for us and love to see you working through life together.❤️

A Danish girl became my foster daughter when she was 14. Lise was 5"8" and 178#. She so emulated me. In about 5 months she weighed 130# and was gorgeous. We are still a family. She is going on 46. I still love her and treasure my "Little Bundle of Joy". Your dialects bring back memories. I told Lise about 15 years ago about my transition in the early 70s. Our relationship did not change.

You are such a cute couple. Glad it has worked out for you both, my wife and I of 37 years together have been great! Im an older adult and came out to her about 30 years ago. It has been a long endeavor but she now knows my struggle with being trans. I can’t transition as it would be too much for her to deal with. She does see the other side of me now and has a better understanding and acceptance of what I’m dealing with. I will still have to remain as my guy side, but I’m still able to be me at times. HRT has been able to make me deal with this, and I can make this work. I’m so lucky to have such a supportive wife in my life which helps so much. I was in a very low spot trying to deal with depression for years. HRT and antidepressants have brought me to a better place now. All I want is to be happy with my wife and myself!

I'm glad you both got to a really comfortable and happy point in the transition. My partner has hinted multiple times towards being trans but goes back and forth on what they verbalize about their feelings regarding their gender so it's been kind of confusing for me to know how I can best support them. I've just been trying to be patient and respectful and taking cues from them on how they prefer to be interacted with.

i had problems talking about my transition with my ex. when we started dating, my srs was already scheduled, and out of nowhere she told me that she wanted to have a biological child with me. i said to her, 'im sorry, im having my srs on february, it's very important to me, i can't give you a biological child, maybe we can adopt?'. but she was very upset, and told me that i didn't really love her. as i see today, it was an abusive relationship. i wish i had someone more supportive and understanding by my side when i was going through my srs and the difficult post-operative period.

This is such a lovely message that I am going to link it and send to my Spouses Group. For 7 years I think it is by now-Ive gathered partners together in a support group if they are in a mutually supportive relationship where coming out happened while already a couple. Dozens have graduated and that was just for meeting in Portland, Oregon, USA till the pandemic moved it to Zoom. Since I have therapy licenses in two states-we opened it up to Californians too. Although Spouses Group focuses primarily on the cisgender spouse, I always keep the relationship growth as my aim at same time. Sure looks like you two have done your share of growing but obviously were very loving from the start! I can't wait to share your channel with my clients!

Oh this is such great advice! You two make such a great couple! This is more for Anya, but i absolutely love how supportive you are of Jackie through out your relationship! In some ways knowing you already have a supportive partner even before coming out as trans &/or transitioning afterwards is way more beneficial than coming out alone. Granted even if you are dating a supportive partner there is no guarantees they will be as supportive if you conme out as trans, but at least you have a 50/50 shot of having an ally one way, or another in life.

I really appreciate the way you brought it back to us all being human and how we all change. It helped make it not feel so big.

What about tips to help your spouse get through the transition. There is all this help for those that are trans but we get left out to deal with what it means for us. It's Pure Hell and we don't get any support. Its not right we have to learn to be supportive when we get none.

I find both of you such a wonderful loving couple.I too am lucky to have a spouse who is so accepting of her love for me as Ive tried to deal with gender dysphoria. Sadly because of horrid health problems related to a intersex body that I was born with I have not been able to transition. Everything you say is valued but what if I feel uncomfortable with them, I do am supportive as much as I can be but a part of me is scared of loosing them, though can you loose an idea of someone if the image you had on them isn't real... The strange thing about me is ..that I support when the transition is to female, but when the transition is to male ....I just lose my feelings...😥

For an accepting cis partner, the trans partner can lean on their shoulder. But, who can the cis partner lean to when the transition process gets too overwhelming for them? The truth is that there is now more support for the trans partner but seldom for the cis. My girlfriend came out of the closet recently and I know her emotions are still at their peak. I can't possibly talk to her about my concerns at least not yet. And finding people online or irl with a similar situation or experience is difficult

I feel sorry for the cis woman, I thought she was a lesbian but it surprised me that she dated you when you were a boy ! She staying with you out of pity
