In this bounty guide for normal Rend Blackhand in Blackrock Mountain in Hearthstone Mercenaries, I present a full-budget team - all rares - that can take down the boss with no specific treasures or luck needed. Thanks so much for this! Was able to have Rend target the Samuro Mirror Image instead of having him have to go immune, then was able to melt him fast enough so Tavish and Millhouse were able to clean up ads with AOE

Thanks so much, this got me there! I just needed Tavish's Explosive Trap to 4 so it'd deal 14 damage (28 with weakness) to kill all the little dudes, just gotta find 2 damage for the 30/30 from literally anywhere else after Rend is dead, so it's quite doable.

ahhh. thanks for that. Seeing his Tavish is 88 health looks like he has all the items maxed out too. I tried this 6 different times and always ends miserably. Back to the grind >:(

I worked the entire day on grinding out the Orcs and getting the Familiar Strangers, but I did manage to win the bounty within a day. Worked like a charm. Thank you!

First attack rendered Cariel unhealable. You also got buffs that affected your outcome that are random.

If you can get ahold of Mukala and Krush you can get Krush the "Attack until death" perk and use Mukala's "Invincible while attacking" move on him for an insta-win on round 2 in every PVE battle.

Thanks, worked wonders, would just like to add that you can do this without immunity whilst attacking or defensive treasures (got tavish and xyrella treasures mostly), even had windfury on Samuro and managed to only lose Cariel.

Tried this, first Cariel and Xyrela died a bit too early compared to the video, then even Rokara and Millhouse and I thought I was lost but in the end Samuro and Tavish finished the job, so thank you for the guide 👍

The fights don't always go exactly the same way. Treasures change things and there may also be some randomness involved because sometimes the bosses use abilities in ways that surprise me even now. The key idea behind all my guides is that I have repeated the fight and even if it has not been the same every time, it should be doable with a wide variety of treasures.

Works great. You can even bring in Tavish earlier and just start stacking traps if you have the wire trinket. Farmed it 6 times using your strat not 1 death on boss. Thx!

Works well even if said mercenaries aren't maxxed, but took me three retries, go for damage reduction treasures and immunity on samuro, ring of protection 3 makes the rapid dragon fire spell obsolete (3 - 3 damage).

you really need to get lucky with picks here. 3rd attemt and no go, samuro and xyrella dies too quickly. Especially Samuro with no 'immune whilst attacking'

thanks for the guide i tricked his 200 dmg ability with smauro mirror buffed by rokkara to target the mirror :D

Thanks, switched millhouse to diablo and easy win. But you need to roll buff on xyrella on triple targets for 1 skill and some other range skill buffs. But i guess this is not necessary.

Pfew, i finally beat Rend too thanks to you! I'd thought about Samuro but reducing damage with Xyrella/Roakara was the missing link. I think its worth mentioning that one has to be somewhat lucky(more like not unlucky) with treasures if not fully leveled, Samuro still takes a lot of damage while attacking into Rend and keeping Xyrella alive is not trivial either (tho with the spectral blade and/or big standards its a lot easier). I had also tried stealing Rendered Obsolete with Blink Fox but that doesn't work at all :D (even results bugged by giving the fox completely unrelated abilities...). Thanks I needed this, I was really annoyed by this boss blocking the quest progression

I tried Blink Fox with the instagib bosses too, but could not get their key abilities. There are lots of bugs with Blink Fox, so I'm not sure if that is intended. We'll see what happens in future patches.

I’ve tried it six times with this exact comp, even playing everything exactly to the turn. How can you prevent Sam from catching magma blast? Every single time I do this, the magma blast hits Samuro. I don’t understand how everyone is saying this is easy farm. I’ve gotten by with a lot of your strats before, but this one just doesn’t make sense to me. I feel like you need to mention the buffs that you got, and how it isn’t possible with base Samuro stats.

as a general rule with mercs as a mode, the treasures you pick up are sometimes half of the reason why you can win; in this video, Samuro had the treasure that makes him immune while attacking, so he stayed alive for far longer because of that treasure even the most steamrolly team comps can lose to a boss if they get mediocre treasures, or lack them entirely

I'm using the same guys, doing the same moves, but I just lose Cariel or Samuro too fast; they kill Samuro the 2nd round before the Immune even triggers. Seems like you need the right bonuses during the map to me :/

Eye for an eye on cariel did 200 damage to rend for me, i would risk going for an epic fight just for that, i didn’t even need millhouse and rokarra by the end

My budget team consisted of just three mercenaries: Yu'lon, Niuzao and Chi-Ji. The probability of having at least 30 damage reduction by the boss battle is over 90% and Rend's 200 damage blow will always hit Niuzao's divine shield..

I'm a bit late to this are there any other combo's that work? I find this is not working for me at all , Cariel collapses to fast, and can't be heal due to Rend. then you can't keep Samuro growing. Its a tedious run to keep going to the end without a better chances for success

How does Xyrella survive against a Fire Sworn? Xyrella, Sam, and Cariel can't kill it on turn one, it hits Xyrella a second time on turn two, then Xyrella dies before the rest of them die. How does it go differently when you do it?

My non-maxed Cariel, maxed Samuro with Burning Blade equipment, and Xyrella with the Blinding Luminance buffing gear do kill the Firesworn turn 1 without any treasures. Firesworn health can vary. On my runs, I've seen Firesworn between 55 and 67 health. My team deals a total of 67 damage. This is with non-maxed Cariel (-2 damage compared to maxed), fully maxed Samuro (+2 compared to non-maxed) and all abilities and equipment at max. A fully maxed team thus has between 2 and 14 damage to spare, depending on the Firesworn health. Any stat buff treasures make the fight trivial even for a slightly weaker team, so you should only fail if your abilities and gear are not almost fully upgraded and you meet a Firesworn that rolls a high Health number before you pick up any meaningful treasures.

Finally beat it, and only Cariel died! Gear: Cariel -3 damage self-only / Xyrella: 4 heal each turn / Samuro: Immune while attacking. Thank you!

I have all the mercs but the irate legendary, not all of them maxed out but I am working on that. My best team is the nature team but I suck at arena, do you have any advice?

@@mikedebois2566 Hard to say based on that. Play stronger comps? Get to know what the meta comps are, what they do, and which Mercs you need to take down first against them.

I'm confused? Why did Blackhand start with 600 health when he starts with 500 in this video? And the monster to the right of Rend, has stats of 30/30. In my bounty, his stats were 25/1. Why so different?

why do you hit alltime the rend blackhand ? if you hit the casters with your protectors you make double damage and that will be a huge differece, also thanks for the advises! good luck!

Before using this footage, I calculated whether the treasure was important. It was not. I test each fight multiple times and make sure the comps are consistent and do not depend on luck.

@@konijnenmans1 You cannot read your own post? You implied so in the first sentence. "You probably didn't get the same 'attack while immune' treasures and passives etc". Implying Old Guardian succeeded where the OP didn't because of said treasure/passives. I would say succeeding the boss battle or not when that's the goal of video qualifies as "important". I can confirm I just farmed 6 runs with his strat/team and went 6/6. Works fine. One run I even got all shitty passives and still won easily. For OP, restudy video and make sure you have all same trinkets etc in character setup. Strat is almost foolproof.

@@konijnenmans1 I have run into the same quirks with this streamer. After trying 10+ times & deciding to comment in hopes I was missing something, the response I received was close to " my son did it 3 times". I busted out laughing and showed that to the group I play with. There is a different streamer named Rarran that doesn't seem to have these quirks.

When I first tried Rend, I took my nature squad.. I thought no PvE opponents could annihilate that team quite like Rend did. I tried changing my back up nature mercs with sam/xy/car combo to go with mal/bru/guff. No luck. I had no other synergistic trios maxed out... so now, following this video's advice, I've got to get rokara and tavish from lvl 20 to 30, and unlock their equipment to stand a chance... thank you for the vid, and Fuck Blizzard for this boss.

Yeah, most of merc bosses are more like puzzles and can be beaten by knowing the gimmick. This one however is just numbers brawl. Gotta farm like crazy before trying this one again.

It is not possible to unmax your Mercs as you play the game. Maxing them is not necessary to succeed though.

Problem is finding the immune treasure for Samuro. On my 14th run, not a single immunity treasure, doesn't matter what other god tier treasure I get, instantly lose and die if Samuro doesn't have immunity while attacking. If you don't have a immune, he damages you too much too keep up with healing, you're just utterly screwed.

Yeah, I'm calling bs on "no luck needed" Tried exact comp didn't work. Got closer than I did before but still no dice. Honestly this is just a horribly designed boss fight imo and I really don't see how this is remotely possible on heroic since normal is nearly insurmountable. I'm even more upset that they implemented the stupid Chi-ji event which requires you to be in alterac valley.

This strat does not work. I just got there with your 3 that you use only to have them die and lose all 6 mercs with Rend still at over 200 health. This is regular mode and if I can't even do it with all 6 mercs maxed out then how the hell would anyone do this on heroic? Reading down below I have to get a treasure that I only get maybe 1 out of 5 runs because I've ran it twice with no luck. Blizz evidently figures every player has 40,000 hours to devote to this stupid mode.

youtubers in general p*ss me off. Wasting this last week grinding up for fire. And that mage and fire is squishy as heck trying to climb that ladder. All the rest of the clickbait videos just show a 30 second money shot .. on how "easy" it is. I'm p*ssed at Rend and I dunno if even that was nerfed or dependant on specific lvl items. Most of the time I can get him down to about 120 before that wave cycle stops and just get pwned. Killed him once but dragons owned me right after. Absolutely NONE of them show the climb. Now I gotta look up on Twitch and figure out what VOD Old Guardian did it on. Even him I noticed he quickly shied away from that boss. It's like a 1 time deal. All this wasted time I got the beasts lvled up, the nature, and mostly the fire... But Tavish ? PSH. I didn't even touch him. Power lvled 30 and dont have anything on him. And I'm not about to play the casino on that when I'm trying to focus on mysterious stranger for OTHER guys.. argh !

You do not need everything maxed. All the Mercs in the video are easy to get.

@@OldGuardian as I saw in this video you merely scraped the victory and only by buffing Samuro. one more round and that card house would fall. I tried that today, it didn't work.
