Smarter shot taking was certainly on display by Vegas. Bob made some great saves but I have to wonder how much the extended layoff between series had an effect on his game rhythm.

Goalies can literally steal games, but, any NHL goalie is tough, Bob's been incredible, you have to shoot with screens, let it fly in unexpected places, shot passes, Vegas just showed how it's done, but, gotta keep doing that, once a goalie like him makes great saves it gives his team super confidence, and that's how the Panthers have rolled.

This is quickly becoming my favourite hockey channel. The analysis provided here is far more interesting than media and rumours coverage that other channels do (aka talking about someone’s Tweet)

I have been saying this same thing, Bob is an amazing goalie, but a lot of other team fans’ were saying Florda was going to shut vegas out, look at how Vegas has depth and they took advantage of how bob sees.

Honestly, not only is Vegas doing a great job getting traffic in front of the net, but the Panthers are playing weak defensively and not clearing bodies the way they should be. They let Vegas camp in front of their net while both defensemen chase, which is what led to Duclair trying to block Vegas's third goal and just screening Bobrovsky instead. Panthers have got to tighten up their play moving forward. The Stanley Cup final is not the place to be chasing penalties and leaving your goalie out to dry.

Vegas tends to save their energy for the 3rd period. They "test the waters" in the first (throw pucks on net and see how the other team responds), hit and forecheck in the 2nd, then outpace the other team in the 3rd.

Vegas did what Florida had been doing the last two rounds. This is gonna be a fun, long series.

Honestly the fact that Vegas significantly nerfed Bobrovskiy's save percentage from a ~0.932 SVG % to a 0.915 SVG % despite Boston, Toronto, and Carolina and the Tampa Bay that got swept; all failed to do so is insane

I appreciate the grit Tkachuk has brought to these play offs, but thanks for one of the small handful of analysts who has commented on what an absolute beer league pass that was, rather than focusing on the challenged goal that followed. Truth be told, there was some level of skill in how he feathered it over several sticks- but it's what is surely to be bouncing puck even had Stone not batted it down. Essentially be a centering pass if the receiver couldn't corral it- it was just not the kind of play you want to make being down only one goal with 6 minutes left. Especially from a team like Florida who has repeatedly proven they can come back late in the game, for them, 6 minutes is like a full period for most teams.

this was something I thought Toronto did really well against Tampa but really didn't execute the same against Florida, net traffic is key.

The Cats played poorly, needless penalties and tons of really bad timed giveaways. Bobrovsky still looked great. I like both teams in the cup this year. I think the Knights will win but if the Cats show up, I'm looking forward to a great series.

I was told by no less than the Great one florida was this big bad mean physical team and vegas better watchout. I saw vegas beat them both before and after the whistle. No wonder hague was laughing

They beat Bob clean. Shots were pretty even but Vegas had better posession time they worked harder and had some luck on their side I counted 3 posts but Hill wasn’t just lucky he was good too. Tkatchuk got the dbl minor at the end which he will criticize himself heavily for as it sealed their fate so I think he will have a better game 2 as will Bob. The rest of Florida played ok, but the knights seemed to have their zone entry figured out. Vs Toronto the cats could zig zag in, sneak in, dump in forecheck gain posession but they had trouble executing zone entry. Once in the zone they were able to score or hit posts or force hill to make ridiculous saves. Zone entry key for the cats, Vegas key is keep out working them lije in game 1 but not underestimate their sneaky counter attack once their zone is breached in those rare times it happened and to not forget while Bob is still only human so is hill. The cats had only 1 less shot despite a huge difference in posession time so that was a huge factor in game 1 and I don’t see why it wouldn’t be for game 2 as Vegas tries to go 2/2 vs the best road team (8-2) in the playoffs.

Didn't see until now how Gudas tripped Stone AFTER the 2-1 goal was in the net, when Stone was on his way to celebrate. And here I thought the clown show by Tkachuk and Bennett at the end was the team's obvious low point in this game. These Panthers have gone too far already. They are nowhere near championship level and are in the finals because there are no whistles in the playoffs, they have (had) a well playing goalie, and so far strike gold in overtime games.

It wasn’t necessarily that Miami played a bad game, it was Vegas played a strategic game & executed. It was obvious the 10 day layoff didn’t help panthers. They were too emotional. Game 2 will tell a lot about the future of this SCF.

Having 10 days off didn't help anyone on the Panthers. They were passing the puck to open ice, getting tangled up with each other entering the O-zone, forgetting basic defense in front of the net. It's only further proof of how opportunistic they are that they hit several posts and fanned on an empty net giving Hill the chance to look like the second coming (highlight save nonetheless). Back in the olden days players grumbled when there were 2 days off between games and the media always gave the edge to the team with less rest. I expect Florida to get their game legs back and make a series of it.

Doesn’t matter if a goalie’s super hot, they’re only as good as the team in front of them defends. A team with the best goalie of all time but poor defensive play will lose. Hockey is a team sport. Everyone has to be playing better than the other team in order to win.

I'm seeing both goalies looking human. Bobrovsky is playing very low to the ice, so they need to raise the puck as much as possible. Most of their goals went in off the crossbar, or just under it. Of course, it helps to prevent him seeing the shot. Hill is getting WAY out of position a lot. That paddle save wouldn't have been necessary if he wasn't in another zip code. Florida just as to pass the puck around to pull Hill out of position.

It was nice to see Florida finally get humbled by an elite team that was organized and thorough with their play. Hoping to see three more out of Vegas.

I said it before it started. Panthers will need to score more than 2-3 goals a game to win the cup vs the VGK. Vegas is a major threat 5on5 and they're really good at scoring lots of goals even though they don't really have any superstar players. I knew after a 10 days layoff and Vegas ability to score that they would be able to make Bob look human. It's far from over though, I'm confident Panthers will rebound and find a way to find to go back to Florida with the series tied 1-1

It was a good game. It WAS 2-2 going into the 3rd. Panther’s looked like their only game plan was “get Vegas to take stupid penalties”!!! The Knight’s aren’t going to fall for THAT. Not THIS year. This team is waaay more focused than the 17-18 season. Back then it was overwhelming. This year, they’ve been tasked with losing MOST of their lineup’s on LTIR. 5 GOALIES!!! I’d like personally congratulate the NHL for completely ruining the 2023 Stanley Cup finals. What should have been one of the best finals in recent memory turned into😂 a three alarm dumpster fire. Making the teams wait a full week + just to resume the series was dumb. We need a new rule: whichever team is last to make the finals will get two days off. The series will kickoff on the third day. Bobrovsky was the best goalie in the entire playoffs, by far, no one else was even close. As a player and a former coach the last thing you want is a 10 day break when your goaltender is playing out of his mind. So instead of a great series we’re getting the Bobrovsky from the regular season that dragged the team across the finish line to become the wildcard #8 team.

Game 2 just ended. Yep, Bob's only human.... chased. Adin Hill's playing better than him. Lots of hockey left, and now to Florida they go, so let's see how the Panthers respond. I expect them to show up and prove they're in the finals for a reason. LGVGK!
