As a former security guard for particularly wealthy individuals the lack of meaningful security at the beginning of the movie is actually REALLY common. Most wealthy people will skimp out on anything that isn't a status symbol or value holder. The most you'll get out of them for security, most of the time, is an incredibly basic security system and maybe a guard or two depending on the size of the location. It's actually hilariously easy to steal from the "rich" most of the time because of this. However, what tends to keep thieves and the like away is that the rich tend to huddle together in communities where anybody that also isn't super rich sticks out like a sore thumb, so any guards or cam-guards will be on high alert the moment they see a single soul moving outside at any time of day that isn't an expected deliveryman or business appointment. As such it's usually not worth trying to knock over a rich individual unless they have a compound that's separate from a wealthy community and thus easier to sneak around. However, most rich individuals with homes like that live SO FAR from other communities that it's not worth a thief's time going out to them (thieves prefer simple, quick marks). This is why most thievery is done against lower middle class or the poor as it's much easier to blend into and look like an individual who would otherwise normally live and walk about the areas those people live in.

As far as Vampires are concerned, I try to treat them as the ones from the John Carpenter series. If garlic and silver don't work on them, then you can only hope that sunlight will.(in the 1998 movie, the vampires were trying to get rid of that weakness of theirs) I've heard about the running water and the invitation rules, but only in the animes Princess Resurrection and Chibi Vampire. Haven't seen either one anywhere else, so they're most likely false. Either way, don't assume anything until you confirm it first. Edit: I meant "Princess Resurrection," not whatever I wrote earlier.

Along with the wooden stakes, I would have also brought any blades from the suit of armors or big knifes from the kitchen as well. For one it's always handy to have a back-up weapon just in case, and two, there was no certainty that that an wooden stake through the heart would even work. Sure using blades against vampires only works in video games, but decapitation are usually a sure fire way to kill an vampire, and also if Abigail ended missing a few limbs, it would make dealing with her a lot easier.

WAIT: I'll take Joey's side on the "don't let her see anyone's face". She was the only one suposed to enter the room, so she just wanted the "child" to be confortable, it was Peter that entered the room without permission, so he broke the rule, not Joey. But whatever, vampire kid, bla bla bla.

I personally find Kevin Durand one of the funniest dudes around, I had to rewind his stair dive six times cause I was laughing so damn hard at it! Still my hands down favorite funny bit his him yelling "yeah Joshua!"

In all fairness if the kids a vamp, she has powers of persuasion. Which got stronger once she could see them. Keeping her knocked out was the only safe way. Assuming she wasn't faking all along.

I think the worst character in the movie Abigail is Frank because he's a selfish and horrible man who only cares about himself in order to get more power and I'm glad he got what he deserved at the end of the movie.

At the point Abigal showed her true self in the bedroom from then on I agree with you. Abigal could have and did get out of the room and handcuffs and back when she killed Dean. Their identities were blown the second they agreed to the job. Nothing Joey did in the beginning made a bit of difference.

Just finished this film. Absolutely loved it from beginning to end. Loved the characters, especially dumb elon must and the blonde girl from Freaky/Society, the pacing and plot was neat, the twists were great and foreshadowed, the built up, chase and action scenes were intense. The last act was great too. Abigail actaully being grateful towards Joey was pleasant as it was tough to tell how much of her previous "human" acts were genuine, especially after killing SO many people, as seen in the pool.. So it was nice to know she is capable of empathy. Lazaar at the end, the quiver of his lips when looking into his daughter's eyes; the realizations of everything dawning upon him; that Abigail was genuinely hurt by his absence, and that she truly liked Joey and wanted to let her go. Its a breath of fresh air that the vampiric villains shows that much emotions. The ending also reminded me of Ready or Not's final scene.

Saw this movie yesterday, I enjoyed every good part of it💖🔥🔥

Ngl Abigail is kinda funny

I watch a lot of vampire movies and tv shows and transforming into a vampire is usually (about 85% of the time) by the same methods. After Abigail was tranquilized the second time, I would have used the empty syringe and collected some of her blood. I would have cut my hand or arm on her teeth and afterward I would have injected myself with the collected blood.

Silver is an option against vampires, but I wouldn’t trust garlic to be effective since it’s a hit or miss in vampire lore. A stake through the heart, decapitation, and sunlight are the only reliable weapons against vampires. I would have grabbed anything that could be used as a stake and knives from the kitchen, and definitely try to expose the windows. And I also would have tried to get everyone else to hold Abigail down to get get a clear shot at her heart.
