Pretty sure he was. I'm doing a research paper for my school and it looks like he is reading off of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That is kind of a bad impression on his part because he is supposed to be a professional and give his own take on things, but instead, he's reading off of what is given and not what he has to give.

How relevant is computer programming (ie. use of R, python, other higher-level languages) when it comes to being a medical scientist or doing research in the medical field? I noticed Dr. Haddas talking about they store a lot of relevant data for experiments/trials in databases and he seemed to be using a computer a lot. Do they just contract that portion of the research to non-medical professionals?

T B You’re very observant. There is a field called bioinformatics and computational biology/medicine....I am currently a graduate student of bioinformatics....we use computer programming such as R statistics, R programming, python, pearl, SQL, machine learning to answer medical/biological questions....we obtain medical data, design clinical trials, and computer model to assist surgeons and medical practitioners to deliver better health care....prior to learning all those programming languages in my bioinformatics program, I have never written a line of code in my entire life or seen any code before...thanks for being cleaver T B...if you have anymore questions, let me know!!!

Chinese Virus The average salary for Medical scientists/bioinformatics is $98,000; however, individuals that love money work for tech companies as data scientists and make over $125,000 base salaries and bonuses totaling over 200,000....I have to confess that one of my professors who is a PHD holder and one of Directors at NIH, disclosed to my class that made over $7,000,000 last year....therefore, it comes with experience and being in position of power to accumulate more income per year...I am currently going to school in Maryland USA...though we transitioned to online learning a month ago due Coronavirus pandemic....

@@MySmith1234 Awesome, that is definitely something I would be interested in studying even though long term I am interested in PA, MD or DO school. Im having a hard time finding these programs at an undergrad level, there appears to only be 1 in my state. What a shame...
@MySmith1234
@MySmith1234 4 жыл бұрын
T B that’s sounds like a plan...Personally, medicine was my career goal when I was working on my undergrad. I took the MCAT twice, and I did not get my desired store....I applied to 6 schools a couple of years ago....and I did not get in...then, I did not wanna wait one more year to try again....that’s why I decided to go to graduate school....and I fell in love with bioinformatics/computational biology because of all the biology, statistics, and computational aspects of the program..T B...go out of state if you’re interested in this career field to get your bachelor’s....most PHD programs in the nation are fully funded....and you get stipend as a student...

In an emergency, would a medical scientist be competent enough to assess and treat the victim needing life saving intervention?
@DeerRyNa
@DeerRyNa 3 жыл бұрын
This depends, is the person an MD/PhD or just a medical scientist. If he/she has a background in Medicine, then there is a possibility of being competent enough. Hope that answers your question. I’m currently debating whether I want to continue into becoming one or if I should study medicine. I’m telling you this because I’m actually interested in learning about the question that you just asked here.

In countries like Ireland and Australia, Medical Laboratory Scientists are called 'Medical Scientists', but in the US that's not the situation. In the US, after qualifying as a Medical Laboratory Scientist you'd have to earn your postgraduate certification through research to become a 'Medical Scientist'
