Unfortunately I have debt and only have $100 saved in my emergency fund but I’ve already started stuffing for 1 month ahead and I’ve been able to save $100 so far. I believe I’m gonna continue doing so, I know it’s gonna take us awhile and that’s okay, I’m glad I started… but yes if my emergency fund was funded more with at least 1K and I didn’t have debt then I’d be able to stuff more & quicker into my 1 month ahead. Great explanation. ❤

you could still maybe put $5 a pay in a month ahead category if you feel like you really want to do something.

I am also saving for one month ahead with each paycheck. I use the money that I would spending eating out for lunch but now I take my lunch from home and put some of the savings toward more additional lunch groceries and what I have left goes to my month ahead binder.

I do have debt but I have $5k in emergency and I’m 30 days ahead (working on 60). Why? I have $110k in student loans 😫 and realistically it will take me several years to pay off. 😢 Emergency happen every day -kids break bones, car wrecks, death, Etc. I didn’t want to wait to pay off the $110k to plan for real life. It was a personal decision. ❤

Sounds like you’re doing pretty well. Now imagine what you could have without the debt. I agree that it’s a personal decision and there is not a one size fits all in budgeting. I personally also felt more secure having more than 1k in my EF before tackling debt. But I always made sure to work toward being debt free as quickly as possible. Now that I am I can save more and it’s honestly freeing know I don’t owe anyone anything.

Thank you for this, I started hard core budgeting a few years back and fell off, and I plan to go strong for 2023, seeing so many of these videos is hard but i also realize everyone is in a different situation. Like I can't wait to have all the sinking funds and savings but I know I'm not ready for all that yet. Its hard but I keep watching because its inspiring.

I disagree with being debt free before saving for bills a month ahead. You never know what can happen job/health wise and I'd rather be able to pay the next months bills instead of paying for a credit card/student loan.
@DaisyBudgets

To each their own. Studies have shown that the quickest way to building wealth is becoming debt free. However if it makes someone feel more secure being a month ahead before tackling debt then that decision is up to them. However, it will take them longer to reach their goal while making debt payments along the way.

Anything left over in my weekly envelopes, like food, gas, eating out, misc, goes into an envelope for one month ahead. So I play games and challenges to try to save as much money on groceries, gas etc.... If I have 20 left in eating out and usually stuff 20 a week in eating out, i will still pull out the 20, and restuff with a new 20 and put the 20 i took out into my month ahead envelope.

Debt will always be there if you don’t focus your energy and funds on getting rid of it. The quicker you are debt-free the closer you are to wealth building. Debt is no longer there for me bc I focused my energy into getting rid of it as quickly as possible. You can do both simultaneously, but it will take you a lot longer. I enjoy knowing that all my money is mine and I don’t have to constantly pay out to someone else. But you do you.

There are 2 ways you can go about it. You can decide on a goal amount and decide on a date you would like to reach that amount. You can divide the goal amount by the number of paydays you have till you reach you goal date and that is how much you should be stuffing. But honestly I keep my budget as simplified as possible and I just do what I can when I can. Hope that helps 😘

I thought I wasn't able to save at first with so much debt. But after I wrote EVERYTHING down and realized how much I spend in certain areas and cut back- for example: I was drinking starbucks more then 5 times a week. Though I didn't eat out, I had starbucks daily. So it was pretty much the same thing. I cut that down to $10 a week and began putting that money i use to spend, elsewhere. I plan to be debt free on credit/loans by early or mid 2024! Yay to cash stuffing and budgeting! I was even able to start an emergency fund and future mortgage fund 😁

I'm currently carrying a debt on my credit card and I only have 680 in EF. I want to do a month ahead and I could pay my debt and be a month ahead with my challenge boxes but I want to use the money to pay down my car debt, I owe 8700 and will have 3500 so now I don't know what to do. My car note is 151 a month. But my credit card I'm putting 100 into it or more monthly and I still use my credit card buying some items. But I want to pay off my debt and be a month ahead. So what would you do? If I use the money to pay down my car pay I still have to pay 100 plus towards my credit card and either way I'll still have 151 car note. I would just be closer to paying off sooner. Thanks for this video as it's very helpful. I don't know that I'll be able to complete 2 challenge boxes next year and I'm still a couple envelopes short in my one box so it will carry into next month that will take away from next years new boxes. I'm on a fixed income and get paid monthly so it's not easy saving anything. Inwish I could have a side hustle that I didn't have to pay taxes on because I'm on disability. Thanks in advance if your able to help me out as what I should do. Thank you 😊 🎄☃️🎁🎀

I am not a financial expert but in that case i would make sure I have 1k EF. I would stop charging things on my card immediately. Anything you might require to live on should have a place in your cash envelopes therefore no need to charge. Whatever you have remaining in terms of savings Challenges I would immediately put toward debt. The quicker u get out of debt the more money you will have available.

@@DaisyBudgets thank you for replying. I agree with you. As much as I wanna pay down my car note I think paying off my credit card and being a month ahead and having 1k EF makes most sense. I owe about 1500 in credit card debt so that will get paid off and I'll have 1k EF and some money towards my month ahead. I don't do envelopes because my money comes out automatically for my bills and I don't reallybhave enough left over to stuff so I just do 2 challenge boxes. And I'll use next year's money to go towards my car note and I can always put extra money each month on principle since I'll be paying off my credit card again. I've paid it off like 4 times and I keep end up using it for one reason or another. My Christmas shopping is done so I won't be using my credit card anymore. Thank you for your advise. I know your not an expert but I trust your advise. Your doing so well. I love your channel. ❤️❤️🎄☃️🎁🎀❄️

How do you become a month ahead when your on a fixed monthly income?
@DaisyBudgets
@DaisyBudgets Жыл бұрын
The same steps would apply. Just create a month ahead envelope every month after all your bills and expenses are paid, whatever you can afford to spare stuff into an envelope until it has reached the goal amount. It will definitely take longer if you were on a fixed income however, it is definitely possible.

@@DaisyBudgets that's the only downside. Time. It will take time, effort, consistency and a whole lot of patience but will it be worth it, I think so. Thanks Daisy!
