Just came across this now. I'm from Sydney, Australia and will be moving to NYC in January 2024. Been doing comedy for 5 years. This was great. Might see you around in the scene.

Which borough/neighborhood gives you the geographic advantage (access) to the most open mics and comedy clubs? I visited the village a few years ago, and that seemed good. Thanks for your videos.

Manhattan is definitely the best as far as mics go. It's where all the main clubs are in addition to bar shows and independent shows as well. But Brooklyn also has an amazing scene. I'd go Manhattan then BK, then maybe Queens. Greenwich Village is in Manhattan and legendary for live comedy & entertainment.

@@charlesmcbee8513 I'm gonna be in N.Y. next week and am yet to book a hotel, wanted to be in close proximity to open mics and comedy shows, where in the city would you recommend getting a hotel, and which clubs have the best comedy and open mics? Thanks.

It makes sense some comedians wana may be jaded thus their mindset are obviously pessimistic, I see what you mean. You are right vulgar language it is a no no for great communicators! You are very well articulated your voice also has presence, thank you for these tips.

Are there people who are in this world casually/recreationally? I love stand up and really feel it’s an art form. I’m in Brooklyn and I’d love to be able to be around it more, get into writing and performing, and meet other people who feel the same. But I have a career, this would be a hobby. Is that a thing?
@charlesmcbee85133 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely. There are people who have full on careers and families or people who have absolutely no desire to take it seriously but just enjoy the craft and comradery.

Hi Boss, I’m a student and have started comedy this year. I want to stay in New York over the Christmas Holiday this year and attend open mics. I ask of you to bless me with some of your 12 years experience in this. What area can I stay very dirty and cheap within proximity or easy commute to open mics (preferably at clubs so I feel like I’m doing something but will preform at ymca if that’s a thing). I know I’m pretty much asking you for the lost city of Mexican gold and diamonds but your knowledge will be used and greatly appreciated. Three club open mic trifecta ?

There's a Hostel in NYC Called (Hi NYC Hostel.) It's located right in Manhattan. You can Google it. Once you're in ny you can Google comedy clubs in NYC and then go to each of their websites. They should all have their open mic information on their website. Good luck 👍🏾

Thank you for the information you have gotten me steps closer. Hostel seems very luxurious I may just pretend to be a homeless man and go to a shelter. Thank you for your well wishes Sir 🙏🏽
