Standup comedians will perform thousands and thousands of times over the course of their careers...and it doesn't always go well. Every comedian handles "bombing" a little differently, and the lessons learned by comedians can help everyone cope with small embarrassments and frustrations in their everyday life. Aaron Weber is a standup comedian based in Nashville, TN. He is a regular performer at the Grand Ole Opry, making his debut in 2019 at the age of twenty-seven. Aaron is the youngest comedian ever to step into the Opry circle. He is also a co-host of The Nateland Podcast with comedians Nate Bargatze and Brian Bates. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I’m a comic and just bombed at The Comedy Store. Ughhhhh. Nothing worse than hearing from your coworkers, “You’ll get em next time, Buddy.”

There was a girl who farted in class while laughing 13 years ago. She was so embarrassed she had to transfer schools. She probably thinks nobody remembers, I do.

I bombed so badly at my first gig. On front of around 200 people I froze 3.50 minutes into a 5 minute set and just stood there staring into space like a deer in headlights! After about 10 seconds (which is a really long time up there!) the audience felt sorry for me and started sympathy-clapping and I just mumbled 'Thank you so much for having me and shuffled off the stage in shame! lmao! I feel your pain! x

We heard you last night at The Grand Ole Opry. You had us rolling with laughter. Thanks for the laughs. We especially like the Number 1 Dad hat from the Good Will, running out of gas, so funny

I once saw a comedian bomb horrendously at the Edinburgh Fringe. One of the most painful experiences of my life. I still tell people about it when the subject of stand up comedy comes up. So yeah, we remember.
