I've had my old Scotty Cameron Newport2 Studio lie and loft adjusted to perfection... huge difference!

Going through your video catalog here very intriguing just trying to absorb as much information as possible. Thank you for sharing. Also yes I have had my putter bent two degrees up recently and it did help me some I can tell the difference for sure.

As ever Jim many thanks for an interesting insight into bending Putter shafts. I recently went for a Putter fitting and found the whole process to be fascinating. I have always struggled with lining my Putter square to my intended target, what looks square to me is actually open. So after testing a number of Putters with different alignment aids, we settled on the Odyssey Stroke Lab Exo Marxman which has a prominent line on the top of the Putter which really helped me to get the face lined up correctly. However, once we settled on the correct Putter the fitter started to ask detailed questions about the type of Greens that I usually encounter. Apart from in the hight of the British summer the Greens I play on are usually pretty slow and the grass can be quite long for Greens. Also, I mainly play early mornings when there is quite heavy dew of the Grass, so the fitter recommended that we set the Exo Marxman up with 3deg of loft to get the Ball up and rolling. What was also interesting was that when we measure my existing Putter it actually had - 1 deg of loft which helps to explain why my Putts were always coming up short!

Excellent professional insight into putter bending but it looks like it’s a job for an experienced club maker / precision engineer and not just any pardon the expression “ run of the mill “ golf professional.

Hey Jim, great video as always! Worked on my Odyssey Mallet putter extensively, shortened it, drilled and painted a black dot for centering, added lead tape to the back of the head for better feel. After many trial and error on the practice green I went from my stock putter SW of C8 to my current SW of D4. I wish you were near by I drop in for a putter fitting session with you to see if my putter needed adjusting. Can’t justify buying the tools for that.

Jim great informational video, quick question what is your insight or opinion of bending a putter 7 ~ 7.5 degree loft for a arm lock setup? Probably would use a plumbers neck mallet putter head. Thank you for your time, Jake

Never had a putter bent but I recently used a bending machine (old style) to bend a Maltby STi OS Iron Head which is bendable to 2 degrees. I was able to bend it but it left marks in the hosel. I was sweating bullets the whole time worrying that it was going to break.

I’m a leftie and want to have a longer grip that allows me to hold the grip against my inside lead right forearm parallel whilst stroking /rolling the ballon the green? Where can I get a good wrist lock grip and do I need to extend the shaft it a few inches and is it possible to use it as is without bending it to increase loft? Hey Jim, I'm on the verge of buying some club building tools for myself and I've learned a lot from all your videos so thank you. When you're bending a putter are you bending the shaft or the hosel? I have a spider s putter that I believe is an over the hosel setup with no neck and I'm thinking about delofting it by a degree or two. I'm not sure how long the hosel is inside the shaft. But regardless I should be putting the bending bar as close to the putter head as possible correct?

Thx for this! You said the over the hosel type is easy to bend, but I don't think you explained how to bend them. Am I right to assume you just side the bending bar over the end of the shaft (which is itself over the hosel), and just bend? Or do I need to remove the shaft first so that I can put the bending bar directly on the hosel? Thanks!

Do you know of any company where you can buy a putter off the shelf with more loft so that you can forward press? I wouldn't even mind a website where you have to order a custom putter. I just can't find any way to get a putter with added loft from the manufacturer. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Jim, I've got a couple of putters in my rotation right now one of which is a Odyssey Double Wide Armlock. If pulling the shaft on this is it possible to install a straight putter shaft instead of the single bend? I'm looking to cut this down to standard length and install new wrist lock superstroke. Hey. I was wondering can we turn a normal putter into Armlock. I have an old scotty newport 1.5 studio select laying around and didn’t use it for a while. And i am thinking that I will turn it into an armlock putter. Soo is it possible to do so? Or my putter will snap if i change a loft that much?

I was told by the fitter at the proshop a putter can't be bent and all they did was shorten the shaft to make it lie flatter.

I could use some advice, planning on bending a double bend shaft on a taylormade ghost belly putter to try and set it up as a armlock. Was planning to go a touch more upright and bend the shaft for the forward lean as the head has 2.5 degrees of loft so ya that won't work. Am I wasting my time? Can it be done?

What is the maximum you can bend a putter? I have a ping Nome belly with adjustable shaft that was in my old man's gear and I've been left with it, I use a long putter, found this video trying to see how much more upright I could get it, then I will look into head weight etc

Does anyone sell an insert which goes between shaft and putter that allows for bending? It would likely be made of the same metal used in bendable Kirk Currie/Slazenger putters, or I believe Rife has a similar setup. I can’t find a stand alone insert anywhere. Reason I ask is I have two identical putters, Fisher Talon, and one came with the insert and the other without. Also are these bendable inserts legal. Not that it would be helpful but you could bend the putter mid round if you wanted.

Hi Jim...This video made me curious about something. I bought a 'chest high' putter a few years ago and ended up not liking it, using the full length. I had it cut down to normal length and have been using it for a while. I am curious if the shaft angle would be the same as a normal putter and also if the putter's loft is just a normal loft...since it was once very long originally. I'm curious if I should change both the angle and loft or if I should just let it be. I like the putter head but haven't been putting great with it. Tendency is to pull putts and sometimes overcompensate and push them. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks very much..... keithi@mts.net

What is R&A and PGA rules regard lie angle for putter. Long putter, broomstick. Is there a limit to upright angle. I prefer standing close to ball.....thus requiring a almost 90dgr angle preportional to ground level and shaft. I believe 90dg is illegal. What is limit!

Too much yakin not enough bending... 11 minutes didn't bend one single putter flat or upright. these old timers love to hear themselves talk $100 this guy is so lazy he just tells any customer who walks in that they can't have their putter bent because it's going to mess with the structural integrity
