One tip that is missed here is don’t attempt to put the decal until after 10 days so paint is cured. Otherwise, it will peel your paint, ruin the sticker and you will have to start over. I learned the hard way.

The calipers look great! I've never done this to calipers but you made the process look easy. I'd definitely give it a go if I wanted to switch colors, for sure. Great idea with the channel membership and thanks for the THIC I8 plate!

Great video. I'm about to change my rotors and brake pads on a 535i M Sport and have a couple questions. My apologies if they've been asked before....Is this the blue that you used (Dupli-Color MC201 Blue Metal Cast Anodized Color? it was slightly hard to see the can label. Also, the fronts appeared lighter than the backs that you did for this video...Is that because they weren't dry or possibly lighting? And finally, did one can of each of the three paint layers do all 4 calipers? Thanks in advance!

If you do the primer first and then the basecoat over top of the primer the paint finish comes out much better. It is much more metallic and bright. If you paint directly over the primer, the calipers look dull and Matte

Yeah makes no sense primer should be on bare metal then base. Putting base first then primer, the primer would negate what baseless coat does

Do you need the primer with the base coat? I noticed that you didn’t include a link to the primer in the description. Also will regular vinyl be fine for the heat of the calipers or is there a specific vinyl used for the logos you used? Thanks!!

Just the base coat, color and. Clear coat. The stickers I got from eBay and work great. I will try to find you the link

Wouldn't this be easier to do with the caliper off? Sure you'd need to bleed the brakes afterwards but that's no big deal for a much better even coat all round?

I have a bmw 430i my back calipers are extremely rusty should i use a drill but to get the rust off and can you send the links to the paints

Depends on how rusty your talking about. You can try using some scrubbing bubbles foam cleaner with a wire brush to break loose major rust and then use steel wool. I have links to paints listed in the description. Good luck!

No because WD-40 is basically fish oil. Brake cleaner would be your best bet.

I wonder why nobody just takes the caliper off? wouldn't it be much easier. paint all 4 in 10 minutes.

Then u have to drain ur brake fluid, fill it up and bleed them when u reinstall. Also would need to compress pads if the piston pushes them out. Much easier taping up

Their base coat is to be used first per instructions to allow primer to stick. Paint still holding up very nicely

I am about to do this myself and have the same question. I dont see anywhere on the cans or on duplicolor.com to put down primer over the basecoat. One point of the basecoat is to to provide a better color "pop" if applying to a non chrome surface. if you go over it with primer you kill that effect. Great video overall.
