How to bind a quilt using decorative stitches
This is an alternative method of binding a quilt by using decorative stitching that comes with your own sewing machine.
Quilt binding formula (to determine how many binding strips that you will need) :
(Total perimeter of your quilt + 15 ) : 40
The recommended width of your quilt binding for this method is 2.5"

I've never used this method before. One of the reasons is that I didn't know how to effectively turn the corner. Your hint about stopping at the fold line of the miter was great. I may give it a try. Thanks!

Love this idea of using the decorative stitches on my machine of secure the binding on a quilt. I had never thought of doing this but I think that is what I am going to do with the quilt I am working on now. Thank you so much for making this video.

m e harer , it really matters with your machine and the kind of stitches you chose, mine turned out almost the same, I did show the reverse side at the end of the video

Hi Hazel, I haven't tried that personally, so i can't advise you on that. My thought says you should be able to, you may need to consider the bulk...perhaps do a bit of testing beforehand.

I'm working on a more detailed binding tutorial right now, from start to finish which will include cutting and joining the strips. It should be out before the end of the month :)
