The Black Phyrexian Dominus doubles death triggers like Teysa which means we could have quadruple Mondrak when it dies leading to having 8 zombie tokens

Technically, mineral needs to be on the battlefield as the triggered ability resolves in order to double the token, so just killing mondrak won't do it. If you play Jaxis and activate it targeting mondrak, though, not only will you get two token copies from Jaxis that get legend ruled, but that means you get 2 death triggers. That makes for a total of 10 token copies of mondrak by the end of your turn (plus the original) and, if you blitzed Jaxis, (I did the math) 2048 token copies of Jaxis, which just means creature cap on arena

You kinda can already do this if you legend rule Ratadrabik, one of them sees the other one die so you get a Rata token, and that token also copies any legend that dies, this is why Esper Legends is one of my favorite standard decks, I had an opponent Infernal grasp my Thalia only for she to become 2 token Thalias and then my opponent scooped.

I think Monodrak needs to be on the battlefield for the ability to trigger but still cool

If Mondrak leaves the battle field, wouldn't that mean it's trigger couldn't activate because it's no longer on the field? This combo is still possible, but you'd have to play a different Mondrak in order to start the legend rule to kill of one of them and then you could start the token generation.....unless the rules changed at some point and the creature that died can have it's effect activate on the stack in response to itself dying.

But when Mondrak dies, the trigger of Ratadrabik will solve when Mondrak is in Grave. So, Why 2 tokens created?

I don't think Mondrak dying with Ratadrabrik would make 2 Mondraks, because the ability doesn't apply to itself and it's not on the field at the time the ability happens. But anything else that dies, yes, double it up

Wouldn't only 1 token be created? When its ability goes on the stack Mondrak would be in the graveyard and the token copy being created can't trigger because of its own creation

That’s not how that would actually work. You would need Mondrak on the battlefield for it to be able to double the tokens of himself, and if he dies, he won’t be on the battlefield to double the tokens.

I JUST finished my Ratadrabik edh deck yesterday and got all the cards. Then I saw the new Dominus cycle and this one is great and the black one is basically a Teysa Karlov. I definitely need to put both in the deck!

Playing a blitz'd Jaxis with Ratadrabik on the board is one of the best feelings. Mondrak really makes things get out of hand

In commander (for historic brawl for the arena players) praying mondrak up with helm of the host is terrifying. As that will achieve similar results to the combo you're talking about. Well also continuing on past the first turn and keeping the original.

Doesn't work as described lol But still great synergy also with the Black dominus, Jaxis and of course the Kamigawa dragons Don't know how to make a proper deck out of it though

You won’t get two copies of Mondrak from the first Ratadrabik, as Mondrak needs to be on the battlefield to resolve its replacement effect. However, you can reanimate your Mondrak card, and let it die to trigger Ratadrabik again. That will give you 3 Mondraks, effectively giving you 8 copies of any token

The moment I saw Mondrak, I immediately wanted to put it in my Ratadrabik commander deck !!!

I'm not sure about the double Mondrak (I'm pretty sure only one is created with a single Rata alive and the only mondrak dying) But it will certainly be effective to sacrifice Thalia &/or another legengary for mondrak indestructible & creating twice as many non-legendary token of the sacrifice.

You'll only get 1 Mondrak token off of Ratadrabik in the way you described. Mondrak isn't on the battlefield when the token is created, so no doubling.

Just built Ratadrabik EDH. Myriad and any Token Doubler gives us 32 token copies of Ratadrabik (in a 4 player game) Super fun. Still need a copy of Mondrak and Drivnod for it.

I don't understand how you make two when it dies. Ratadrabick only only one token. Since Mondrak is dying, it won't see the Token, the Token also won't see itself enter for it to trigger.

I play a Pioneer deck with *Ratadrabik of Urbog* and *Teysa Karlov* with a similar interaction. If she dies, I have two zombie tokens of her. I added Elas il-Kor for on-death synergy with Teysa, who also buffs the token zombies. And Primevals' Glorious Rebirth for some funny lethal damage (due to legendary rule sacrifices) if my graveyard gets full.

In Historic Brawl I run Reezug in my Ratadrabik deck as well as some other things... It's already pretty nuts when you can use the legend that returns a creature 3 cmc or less from the grave to play when you play a historic spell, in a Ratadrabik deck with, say, Yahenni & token doublers...

Throw in drivnod and elesh norn and oh boy do we got a party going

Mondrak, Ratadrabik, and Twinflame (copying both) then saccing the original Ratadrabik and then the original Mondrak to one of the Mondrak tokens creates more hasty power than any other 3 card combination currently in the game while not technically being infinite power.

my friend runs a ratadrabik commander and in our playgroup, we all immediately agreed to ban this card for his deck as soon as it was spoiled, as this would just probably break the table upon entering :D

You need to legend rule a Mondrak away. If you have just these two and have Mondrak die, you’ll only make the 1 non-legendary copy as replacement effects need to exist before they would apply.

I was using Kaya Geist Hunter before with Ratadrabik and Jaxis

Today I accidentally created an insanely broken Orzhov lifegain deck in under 5 minutes just to satisfy a daily 750 gold challenge. Played well over 30 white or black spells in s landslide against another lifegain where I ended up dishing over 400 damage and finished with over 500 life myself. After around turn 6 I was passing out a minimum of 10 +1/+1 counters two or three times a turn between 15 different creatures, most of them being shoulder tokens with lifelink, had 4 different flyers with lifelink and trample, two of which had deathtouch. Opponent would gain around 50 or more life a turn and I would immediately being it back down 50+ every attack. After the match I took a screenshot and I had 27 creatures, all of them were between +4/+4 and +16+16, 25 of 27 had lifelink, and I had 548 life. The opponent conceded after I dropped a second copy of Eldena, the Dusk Rose in order to trigger the legendary rule, which would intentionally sacrifice my first Eldena who had 12 +1/+1 counters, triggering her ability to create 12 1/1 soilder tokens, which would gain me 24 life each twice, resulting in 24 new +1/+1 counters to be distributed before I swung lol

This ACTUALLY breaks the game currently, MTGA cant handle the stack. I found this video trying to look up if it has happened to anyone else. I had 3 Ratadrabik (One actual and 2 tokens) and 11 Mondrak tokens. I played another Ratadrabik, and immediately sacked it, keeping the one I had out. It didn't even show the full stack. just the 3 Ratadrabik triggers. Then it immediately timed out my game with an error message, saying something unexpected happened, and the match concluded in a draw. I've gotten the message a couple more times with various different plays of the same combo.

One Thing Helm of the Host double the copy then triple the next it goes on and on

There’s a better way. Just cast double major on mondrak Boom now you have infinite amount of mondrak. 1. Cast double major on on mondrak 2. Mondraks ability triggers when the copy hits the field creating a second copy of mondrak. 3. When the second copy hits the first copy will trigger creating another copy. 4. Then for eternity you can’t end the combo so it would result in a draw.

Throw in jaxis for more absurdity

I actually found a way to forcefully break a match with mondrak in Mtg arena by using these two and then summoning 216 tokens ( the limit in Mtg arena)

I prefer Mondrak with the Helm of the Host. Assuming you can pay the 9 mana in one turn because it's not something that will be allowed to be left on the field.

I used a similar combo like this in commander with teysa got a total of 16 teysa's before I killed everyone with a few blood artist triggers

The way that I do it is just sack Mondo, recur them with some other ability sack them again create 3 and find your synergies.

This doesn't work, as when the trigger to make the copy of mondrak resolves mondrak would already be in the graveyard due to it dying and state based actions. to do this you'd need to bring it back from the yard at instant speed while the trigger is on the stack. this would then leave you with 2 tokens and the original

And people think Standard is too aggro with no midrange or combo plans. Though if we are playing Standard and trying to get to 4+ in poison meta that can be in any color...might not be a bad idea to put in some interference or removal if we don't want to get swarmed.

I don't believe this works. You would need a copy of Mondrak that stayed on the field, right? The replacement won't affect the tokens you make while they aren't on the battlefield

This combo doesn’t work as is, since you would need to have Mondrak on the battlefield when the trigger goes off. However, this can be solved with a simple cast of Undying Evil/Undying Malice.

I made the game crash by playing 2 copies each and it couldn't process the amount of tokens I was gonna make, so if you have 3 ratadrabiks and a mondrak, don't play and sacrifice another copy of mondrak.

Isn't the effect removed when mondrak dies? How did you figure it would double? I think it's just gonna make 1 mondrak token
