In this episode I get the goldfish and the ponds ready for breeding. My shubunkin goldfish will be bred in several different ponds this year. I am hoping for some great spawns. As you know I love my shubunkin goldfish and am trying to get a certain look. I separated them this year hoping for even better spawning results .

I will also be doing some micro pond and tub breeding of my barbs this year.

That's such a nice tradition you have of working on her pond every year for mothers day. I love the lily pads and those are some gorgeous shubunkins you picked out for her! Big jump from one of them there near the end! Very nice. 🙂👍👍

Oh thanks Tara. Yeah I follow that script to a T as in make sure her ponds are always done for Mother's Day and I always try to add something new to her pond for on her birthday. She's hit that certain age where you know you just can't find anything to buy them right? So this is stuff that she's going to enjoy and it's going to force her to go outside and sit and enjoy the ponds

Beautiful Shubunkins with wonderful colours , I keep Shubunkins in a Pond all year round iam based in the UK and have fairly mild winters so they do alright outside and they share the pond with 4 Dojo Loaches. Your mothers pond looks great .

Hi Marc Sorry about the late reply. Thanks so very much for watching and commenting. I have some more recent updates on my shubunkin goldfish. I probably could keep some in one of my ponds but it's risky given our cold winters. I keep my koi outside but their ponds are much deeper. I would love to see your shubunkin goldfish and your loaches. The loaches must love it and are probably huge!!!

Love the fact you do work on your mums pond and I think your mum shares same birthday as my mum. You said June 1st? Those are some beautiful shubs. Watching these shubunkins makes me want a pond now. But with kids, cats and Herons I'd be fighting a losing battle. Another great video. Really enjoyed it 👍👍

Thanks so much Allison! I will be doing a video shortly on dealing with herons Now. As far as dealing with kids. I've raised mine but and now have grandkids so and if you make your pawn deep enough you don't have to worry about cats. As for my mom's birthday, yes it is June the 1st. Looks like the Brady went pretty good. The fry I'll take a long time before they develop enough, But by the end of the summer they should have some kind of color going

Thanks Marco, Really appreciate it. I can't wait to get my barbs outside for them to breed. I did have pretty good success. I think with the shebumpkin breeding the fryer coming along It's just we got some cold temperatures so that's going to be a little tough on them. In an upcoming video I get a private tour of a privately owned reptile facility. Think you're really going to like it. I just got all the stuff right up your alley of tortoises frogs. You name it and lots of lizards

Thanks Copeys. That's the pond I put in for my mom. My ponds at home are a lot bigger like about 14 15,000 gallons bigger and mine predominantly have Koi and most of the ponds. Anyways, a really appreciate you stopping in. You take care and I'll be sure to look you up

I was able to build that pond in less than two days, lol I was younger then.. plus it's not that deep. Placing the rocks takes a lot of time. .I am happy to work on her pond every year

You're making me see what I need to be doing with mine. I caught some of the undesirables and put them in one of my lotus tubs to take later to the petshop. They disappeared! Only thing I can think of is the bull frogs took care of them 🐸 😤

How do you know if your shubunkins are male or female

Hi Steven. It's hard to tell .. The female can be a bit rounder when it's breeding time . The males get a sandpaper feel to their head and Gill covers right before spawn . You will see the males chase the female and push her into plants .
