I like that you showed it can be done with basic tools. I don't plan on making this BUT a lot of other videos have misleading titles for cheap gym setups and then they start using a bunch of tools worth hundreds

Very impressive backyard home gym. I’ve been looking for something similar to this to workout with. I’m not that good with building things, but you have given me some motivation and I might give it a try.

I commend you for building your home gym apparatus. It's good you're using treated lumber. You should elevate your apparatus on concrete blocks or bricks to allow the moisture on the base to air dry. Also, put metal braces between the posts and base, because over time the screws are going to loosen. Instead of attaching the metal pipes with flanges, I would've drilled holes through the cross members and insert the the pipes through the holes and screw the flanges to the cross members so that the pipes are supported by the cross members. The flanges will prevent the pipes from sliding off. Decades ago, I built a chin up bar using two long, 3 inch galvanized pipes set in concrete in the ground with a 1 inch galvanized pipe as a cross bar. I have done thousands of chin ups over the years. Good luck and stay safe.

How deep you went into ground with 3" pipes? 1m?
@tyronekim3506
@tyronekim3506 3 жыл бұрын
@@Fosgen The pipes are in the ground about 3.5 feet of concrete. I'm 5'6". If I were taller, I would've had the pipes go 4ft. in the ground. After about 6 months of doing pullups, I was able to do muscle ups. Good luck. Be safe and in good health.

Thanks - I'm thinking of a somewhat similar project but using steel tube and steel connectors - so no welding or screws or cutting (well maybe a couple of cuts) as I'll get tube sized by the firm that supplies it. I like the idea of the step, also good for elevated push-ups.

Great job, nice design. Can you provide a parts list even if not totally complete, with dimensions specially for the 4x4 lumber? I know your spacers tubes are 4' long, and the rungs are 3' so that helps. Thanks in advance.

I plan to do a dip style with that type of pipe and 4x4. What kind of screws you put. I'm 200lb and hope it doesn't loose the screws. The 4x4 is the wood used for outside with minerals. All i need ro know is the screws and depth. Thanks
@IdRatherMakeItMyself-Net

I used #14 - 3" screws for the pipe. You just need to make sure they are compatible with pressure treated wood. They should say it on the package.
