Not liking any of the units I've seen in the shops it time to get dusty and build my own - to my wife's specifications!

Love this book! kzfaq.infoUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!

Great Stuart! And just in time for Valentine’s Day 😙for your wife! Could you make a video on how to route out hinges on a full size door? Your video on chiseling out the hinge was artistic and lovely. When I did it took me all day and was more of a painful drama. And my back was killing me.

Lovely job Stuart, always enjoy your thought process in designing things! Not sure if you did it off camera, but always worth putting some knotting solution over the knots in the wood before priming. This makes sure that any resin from the knot doesn’t come through and stain your nice paintwork!

How is your house always so pristinely tidy, Stuart? I don't seem to be able to walk into a room without leaving a mess...
@olson.pamela
@olson.pamela Жыл бұрын
On an early video Stuart said his channel was a place to get support on being in a mess. He has showed his mess a few times so I think he straightens up the corner he is filming. I am so messy too and the more I get done the bigger the mess. I guess it is either a character flaw or a talent. Just get goggles and see the stuff you finished not the gigantic mess you made.

Great to see a simple woodworking project that everyone (diy) can tackle .one question,you used knotted pine as the legs, you didn't use any knotting solution to avoid any knots weeping later???,some primers do contain it ?,not all , Maybe you should explain that ?? .Also maybe mrmdf could be better?, especially in a place prone to moisture.sorry just nick picking, great video 👍
@ProperDIY
@ProperDIY Жыл бұрын
I don't know how many times I've used knotting in the past and it hasn't made any difference - I still get a yellowing come though so these days I don't bother. The MDF I use is what is available from DIY shops for DIY'ers - that the channel is aimed at. MRMDF is great but the average DIY'er can't readily get their hands on it from a place that can cut it down to get it in the car.

@@ProperDIY 😂😂yes ,your right ,keep it so people can obtain these materials, but I live in a small seaside town whose DIY store (you can guess which one)😂won't cut materials to size😂,but ironically I have a building merchant who will cut a list for you ,but sells Mrmdf (dearer I except)😂,regarding the knotting solution,have you tried a Shellac based primer. Please I'm not being critical, keep your channel as it is ,too many now are going down route where the average Diyer can't afford the tools ,I actually loved when you said "fancy" tools, i.e festool domino 😂😂😂, 👍👍

When using a table saw, Stuart, the blade should only protrude by about 3mm or 1/8 inch when cutting. This leaves it easier to control the cut, get a straight cut, and makes it less likely to lose fingers if you accidentally contact the blade. You should also always leave the guard in place. It was put there for a reason.

big mistake making the shelf into a lid. every horizontal is going to gather litter. every time you lift the lid to put something in the dustbin something will fall off and be lost behind the shelf unit. you would have been better off putting the bin on slides or wheels to pull it out from under the shelf. also, if the glue doesn't hold it, the paint will.
