My late father told me how to get dandelions out: He said you need to hold every single leaf in your hand while you pull. I've found it helps to mentally visualise the root coming up while you pull firmly.

Hello, nice project.A few things. Firstly adding wheels help with moving. Second to reduce weight why not use CLS or even 2 x 2. To reduce cost ,can we use 9mm MDF. To increase functionality can we have a section for dog holes! Just thought what I woukd do differently. Best wishes

Amazing.Yes investing in tools saves lots of money. Also ,you forget to add labour for a carpenter for a day. Add £200 per day. The total cost saving will be more than £700.

You don't know what they mean by slack? You cut a piece of wood on the bench with a chainsaw?? An LR16 battery costs 3 pounds does it?? [they cost pennies] and was the last thing described as a right-angled drill attachment - no. Their basic stuff is just fine and if people want Dewalt or Milwaukee or Fluke - they pay 10-50x the price.

Re. the comments about everything we buy these days made in China, it's virtually impossible to find anything made elsewhere & that's scary. I discovered talking to a bathroom sales manager that every single item of porcelain ware such as bathroom furniture - loos, sinks, shower bases etc are all made in China regardless of the name on them or the price you pay. One day China will be able to hold the world to ransom for everyday objects as our own industries have pretty much all shut up shop. All in the name of cheap labour. 😢

And if you are doing this again compare the 40v versions of those brands! Have been using the Makita 40v drill which is great for slightly bigger stuff like hole saw work or augers!

The old tiller would be worth having reconditioned, even if you have to have a part machined. I have a neighbor with a 60 year old tiller. The thing is a beast but nothing today tears up the ground like that thing does. I was very happen when he saw me struggling with my new tiller and came over with the "beast".

I just don't get it. You start by saying you dont wanna be dragging a compressor around the garden when you're painting a fence. Next moment you've bought a spray gun with it's own compressor. Not just that, but it's a worse compressor (only a pump) that only works for THAT specific spray gun and it has a proprietary hose connecting the two. You probably already own a decent compressor and could have gotten away with a spray gun on air and some extra air hose. That way you would only be carying the spray gun and nothing else. To each their own i gues. But i know what i'll be choosing.

There's a lot easier way. Lift carpet and underlay. Cut a section of the flooring out leaving about 50mm from the base of the wall. Reach under and drive a couple of 5o x 5mm screws up through the flooring into the centre of the wall. Replace flooring with some support timber screwed to the adjacent flooring. Replace carpet. Done in 20 mins.

Stuart, an avid subscriber but with an unfortunate contradiction to your video. Not a negative point on you because I thought the same having followed the directions on the back of the weedkiller boxes that talk about starting in MArch and the growing season, that I believed it was. Firstly though as has been mentioned by some others, do yourself a favour and get the Fiskar tool. It's a game changer both in terms of time and the thanks from your back the next day👍. Now to the chemical weedkilling. You refer to weedkilling being done a month or two earlier. Yes, some manufacturers talk about starting earlier BUT that is in optimal conditions and the VERY earliest. They don't tell you that unless the external environment and growth is exactly right, it'll have little to no effect!! I spoke to one of the major manufacturers having spent a couple of hundred pounds on the chemicals and treated the lawn in exactly the correct method, with the strongest of doses that was recommended. I'd say <1% of the weeds showed any sign of distress 6 weeks later, having done this towards the end of March on dry days. Speaking to the manufacturer whose blurb said to start at the beginning of March, the technical support said it's still too early NOW (30th April) to spray. Leave it probably another fortnight at least until the ground temperature is consistently above 10 degrees. So nearly £300 down and 4 days of work lost, which is massively annoying, having followed the guidance to the letter. Just thought, I'd point this out to you and the other viewers before others follow the promotional material on the back of the weedkiller boxes, that it is massively weather and almost more importantly temperature dependant. This year it's been a colder start and hence why it's important to delay the spraying and as they also pointed out, it's fine to delay the seeding for a 6-8 weeks minimum after spraying, so pretty much seeding at the start of summer. Hope you manage to get some good germination from your seeds. Hope that helps all.

A litre of bleach mixed with water in a two gallon watering can removes staining, algae and weeds but must be washed off thoroughly after quarter of an hour as it will slowly dissolve stone and ruin the finish if left.

I always thought the Jeyes was just an outside disifectant and not an actual patio and driveway cleaner. I used the Patio Magic some years ago and didn't rate it. I now just use a Karcher pressure washer with thier patio cleaning attachment using a bottle of thier concentrate as a mix with water which is only about a tenner, I don't think the detergent does much but along with the patio attachment I get a very good finish and may need just a spot cleaning with the high power lance to try and remove any black spots and stubborn marks.

I was literally just about to ask about what you would do over winter with water in the pipe. I thought it would be smart to leave an end cap with a small hole to let out the water over time, but it's nice to know that has already been though of.

I would've simply dug a bigger hole, returned the post complete with it's little lump of concrete to plumb with a couple of bracing timbers and used postcrete to backfill, which is far easier than buying and mixing separate components and getting the water content right is not a problem at all. Fill just past the ground level with a bit of a slope all round, leave the bracing bits in place for a few hours, job done.
