How to build and weld a custom bbq grill from a truck rim.
Learn to weld a rim into a nice grill or fire pit.
I had a scrap truck rim that I decided to build a bbq grill from it. The project turned into a custom bbq grill. I prefer dually rims as they are deeper and place the coals at just the right distance.
This can also be lowered and used as a fire pit to keep warm or to cook as well.
Easy custom welding bbq project for the weekend.
I like to weld stuff up and keep practicing my skills.

Here is another weekend project. I had a truck rim that was damaged and some scrap to build me a custom rim bbq grill. Its been super hot and humid so I haven't done much work lately. I have a lot of reviews to do as well but will get to them next week is time permits. If there is any project you want me to try let me know. Thanks

@@BigLou956 I am going to build a swamp cooler or water cooler. I have the pump, fans, controller, solar panel, tub and all the other little stuff. I think that will be a cool project but wont really be a welding project. I think it will keep me cooled down.

Love Hobart 7018. Was just welding a fire pit tonight with it.

I like the Hobart 7018 and 7018AC electrodes. This is the first time I buy 6010 electrodes as I used to have tons of 6011 but eventually ran out. The 7018 10 lb cost $35 locally and other brand 7018 cost $12 for 10 lbs. I have not used the $12 electrodes but I picked up 20 lbs of it. I been looking for a semi truck rim to build a fire pit but due to Covid-19 I hardly see anyone. I will eventually get one and build me a fire pit. Thanks for watching.

Jorge Man,that's a good Idea ,look's real good ,and that Plasma really come's in handy,But I have to say ,when you put the Food on it,Man I'm going to start looking for a truck rim ,thanks again for the Videos .

I actually have a semi truck rim that I wanted to convert to a grill. That project has to stand out and I will need to think of a design for it.

Nice little pit.... I have like 2 troque rims that my dad gave me, they belonged to his 10 wheel hauling truck... I've been wanting to use one as a disco holder, I have a very big propane burner that fits perfect in it... Then I can set my disco on top of it.... I like your welding projects cause it gives me ideas and inspires me to do my own projects👍👍

I been waiting to see my neighbor so I can ask him if I can have one of his semi truck rims. I have not cooked in a disco in a long time but I would usually do fish and my father would cook tripas. We always used fire wood but propane burners sure make things easier. I enjoy welding just the weather has been crazy hot.

Go for it! I have a semi wheel that I wanted to build into a similar grill to leave at the ranch. This wheel was from a dually so it was a bit deeper than car wheels.

The welds came out nice, good thing the 7018 running at higher amps covered my nasty 6010 beads. I need more practice but my arc beads look way better than my Flux Core beads.

I got a Powermax45 but I bought it used for $600 or $700. I recently started using a Dewalt 60 gallon compressor because my Husky 30 gallon could not keep up. I will upload an updated video on the compressor but it's on my channel. I'm using my Hobart welder to power the 240v compressor also since my plasma cutter runs off my outlet. The small screen with holes not to sure. I think it went wrapped around the compressors exhaust in the oil field. It was used like a guard or something like that it was given to me by a friend.
