Great video, Neil! Educational, entertaining, funny elements and the right degree of detail for newbees like me. Really enjoy your content. 👍 Looking forward to part two. What I'd love to see is a vid where you describe how you select your components for a project. Like why you took that but not this part, which benefits does one system have over another. That would be awesome.

Hey Peter! Thanks for the kind comments! Yeah, I work from home and do have spare time to make these videos. When I first built my board I noticed I needed to jump from one video to the next and piece together all the information. So I thought, "hey I should make a video/channel dedicated to esk8 builders!". I really appreciate that you see some value in this series. I'll be posting part 3 this week so stay tuned! Hey Rob! That actually means a lot to me. It was really my intention to try and do both. One thing I noticed about DIY hobby videos is that most of the time all you see is their hands and second the video can be a bit dry. So I wanted to reach as my people with this video by keeping the facts available yet entertaining. however, if you go on to my next 2 videos of this series they tend to get a bit more straight to the point. Thanks again for check out the video and hope you subscribe :) - Neil

So, if anyone wants to do this I'd recommend thicker riser pads. Also, what's not shown in this tutorial is a lot of sanding to get the motor pulley to not rub against the caliber trucks. DO NOT get the cheap ebay ESC, get a VESC...thank me later.

Dope video! This is perfect and clear instructions on building an e board. GREAT tutorial. I'll be back to watch again once I get everything for my 1st build. I really like part on here, wanted a dual setup but I just cant afford it right now. So I'm going with this exact setup, minus the wheels and deck. I went with those A.T. MBS 100mm wheels instead. Hey Neil, awesome video as always. I like the creative transitions and way you put the video together! You're doing a great service to the esk8 community. It's helpful to see an up-to-date belt drive build. What made you go with that instead of hub motors?
@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Oren! Thanks so much for the support. Especially from a fellow DIY esk8 KZfaqr. My friend had road my DIY board and said he basically wanted the same thing. The hub motors undoubtedly ha less maintenance but the performance is lacking for what I want. However there are pro's and cons to both hub and belt. At the moment I like belt for it's performance. But, I'm excited for Carvon's direct drive hub motors.

I just made mine with 6300 watts of power, dual 6374 setup, carbon fiber racing deck with grip, 12S4P battery with BMS, about 40 MPH, LED lights (1600 LUMENS), and 50 mile range. Will post my video in about a month or less. The most challenging was the wheel drilling, as I put all six bolts and the knurled set screws that kept coming loose, had to really torque them in....
@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
Sweet build bro! Did you get a 12 inch truck to fit the dual 6374 motors? My next build is going to be dual Carvon direct drive motors; I can't wait. @WORLD-OF-MERLIN
@WORLD-OF-MERLIN 6 жыл бұрын
I had to purchase the 218mm trucks to fit the Torque Boards 6374 motors. I think my board is dangerous at 40 MPH, let alone a 60 MPH pneumatic wheel board. I can't even take mine to its limit, because I'm too scared to go any faster than about 20 MPH, at least for now, maybe when I get more comfortable later I'll go faster. Actually, I'm going to start custom building different type of electric boards and sell them. Current system cost me about $2000; selling it for $2500.

ELLIOTT MORIARTY very cool! Yeah, the best part of DIY is that you are only limited to your imagination! I also thought of selling complete builds. Good luck with that! Gabriel Del Pino thanks for watching! I hope you consider subscribing for more videos like this one! the VESC with FOC is essential to running hub motors smoothly because they are sensored motors. However, i am not familiar with the ESC from diye. The FOCBox from Enertion is one of the best VESCs out there. 10s5p will get you a very nice speed and distance for sure. Hey Brotha! Thank you so much for the support and the subscription! I hope you continue to watch my videos to come. You're right though, the challenge putting together an entertaining video while getting my build and facts right isn't easy! But, hey, if it was easy everyone would be doing it right? But, the most somone one can do is either like, comment, subscribe, and/or share! Those actions really go a long way and are so appreciated! I, like some youtubers, actually go through all the comments and engage with the community! thanks again and hope to get to know you better in the comments! - Neil

Hey man, I am from Recife in Brazil, South America, and I really liked your videos... You should come to Brasil and open up a shop for esk8 here, we don’t have electric skateboards here, I own 02 dual pluses, boosted board v2s just because I love them but I had to have somebody bringing outside the country both of them so that’s the only reason I was able to get it but it’s not available here in Brazil, so in other words boosted board is not officially being sold down here in Brazil yet just yet Any who, Such a great video I love these 6374s...

Just make sure you DON'T have zinc hardware, as zinc hardware can snap easily. This meaning when you are using your board, or uninstalling the hardware, you could very well snap it and have a much harder time putting things together. Basically, just make sure you get good hardware.

Hey Bro! Honestly, this stuff isn't plug and play. There will be some trial and error when it comes to the parts. Even if you have a 12mm wide pulley and a 12mm belt you'll still need to take the time to align everything. Don't get frustrated and know that anyone that has made a board has gone through these challenges. If you have any problems search this forum as someone else has probably gone though the same thing: www.electric-skateboard.builders/ - Neil

Hey there! Thanks for watching! I hope you'd consider subscribing to see more videos like this one. Sorry for the late reply. It depends on the mount. I got the motor and mechanical drive train from diy electric skateboard and i now have a serious problem. The stick you mention that goes in the motor shaft, in my case, it's not as long as the hole. Thus, as the stick is not as long as the shaft's hole, it moves, and so does the pulley with it. Removing the pulley now is, I would say, impossible. It's freaking tight and I cannot imagine a human being removing it. Any advice?

Hey man, really digging your vids and looking forward to part 2. If you don't mind me asking, I'm building the exact same skateboard as the one you're showing in this vid (same sized board, wheels, trucks, and MOTOR 6374), except it's going to be a dual motor. Will two of these motors fit on the truck you're using? (The 10 inch axle)
@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for watching, Ryan! I hope you'd consider subscribing to see more videos like this one. The truck I use on this build will fit (2) 5065 motors: diyelectricskateboard.com/collections/electric-skateboard-motors/products/electric-skateboard-motor-5065-260kv?aff=3. However, if you use (2) 6374 motors I suggest 218mm truck from Torque Boards: diyelectricskateboard.com/collections/longboard-trucks/products/torqueboards-218mm-trucks?aff=3. Hope that helps! Hey Neil! I'm working on my first build and was wondering if you could give me some advice? I bought a 6374 190KV motor from torque boards which has a Max Power: 3150 Watts Max Amps: 80 Amps Max Volts: 12S How do I know what battery will work best? Would I need 12 cells? I'm eager to finish my build up but have hit this road block. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 5 жыл бұрын
Are you going to be running Lipos or LiIons? Second you'll want to go 10s or 12s with your batteries. That is 36v or 44v respectively. 12s (44v) can run a little hot on one motor, but it can be done and will give you more speed the 10s (36v). Personally, I run 10s Lipos are have gotten my board up to 33mhp which is plenty. As for mAh (milliamp hours) I'd try for a minimum of 5000mah (5ah). With that my build has taken me up to 11 miles. It all depends on your max riding speed, weight, and terrain. Let me know if that makes any sense.

Itching for part 2! HAHA! Fantastic work bro! I was wondering how a dual motor would work for me. I am in an area with quite a bit of hills. I am wondering what would be the best motor setup for me? Any ideas?
@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for watching! I hope you'd consider subscribing to see more videos like this one. Depending on how heavy you are a single 6374 could handle a lot. However, a dual motor is always something I suggest for larger people and larger hills. I would go for a dual belt drive using (2) 6355 motors. Also, go for a 10s or 10 cell battery setup. That will get you up hills real nice. what part of the world do you live if you don't mind me asking? - Neil

Thanks fam! Oh man, I subscribed after the DIY video that was recommended. I am like 6ft 200lbs, so I was definitely going for a dual setup. I live in the DC metro area. I live on the surrounding suburbs and for some reason our entire neighborhood has a good set of hills. Nothing like SanFran, but enough to know it can bog down an average board with my weight. Thanks for the advice, I will do my research on your suggestion. I am getting everything ready before I start my process.
