You will need a heavy duty crimp tool for crimping terminals on the battery connectors. Check with your local electrical supply house for the necessary tools. Another issue is with stranded interconnect wire going to sensors is to make the job neater and safer you will need some wire ferrels and the crimp tool for them. These are sometimes available as a kit with the tool and an assortment of parts. I hope they gave you detailed wiring instructions, it makes the job a breeze. As for charging some individuals with travel trailers will use an empty port on their 7 contact trailer plug to route power out to the trailer as they are driving to their destination. It involves adding a dual battery isolator to the output of the alternator, running the original charge one wire off of one of the isolator terminals back to the car ( it was removed from the back of the alternator, rout this to one of the outputs, connect a new jumper wire from the alternator output terminal to the isolator input terminal ). The second output terminal is run through the appropriate size fuse and the output of the fuse is run with the appropriate sized wire to the trailer connector. The wire should be protected with spit loom tubing and tie wrapped to the chassis, away from hot exhaust components and any moving parts.

Looks like you have some very nice components. Wire loom and zip ties are your friends. Also grommets if you’re going through metal. Looking forward to seeing how you lay it all out. Oh and look at wago lever nuts for wiring. They’re ideal for high vibration applications.

I found EXPLORIST life - DIY Campers on here has some excellent information on wiring up trailers and vans. And has good information on the same type of systems you are using. Also, if you haven't already, you could look into tankless water heaters, so you don't have to lose vertical space for a water heater.

Wow Scott, what a ton of decisions! Wouldn't have thought you'd need 4gauge wire but makes sense. You'll do fine

Interesting. I'm running 320W of solar panels and 3 batteries in parallel with a cutoff safety switch and works perfectly for my off-grid cabin. Looking forward to seeing your system working. 👍

I see a lot of ads these days for small self-contained units like from Jackery or Ecoflow, and I'd be curious to know if you thought about putting one of those in the trailer instead. Seems like for a small trailer it would be a lot simpler to install, and yet still portable enough that you could pull it out for other needs.

I’m 8n the same boat. Trying to figure out the watt hours per item and how long to use it and what you need to run that while maintaining the proper levels in the battery, etc etc etc. I gave up 6 months ago, then tried to attack it again a few month as ago, and now I’m trying again. I think I’m coming to the conclusion that I’m going to go with a Jackery or Blueddi system and just adding panels to it.

I’ve just blasted through like 17 of your videos. I’m now looking for the overall price, which I understand you said was going to be revealed in a way later video. Can’t tell if you’ve disclosed that yet or not. Any help?
