This series has been great for me. I'm building a 351 Stroker and the parts and steps are pretty much the same. Thanks again!

A quick and simple method to pump the lifters full of oil is using an oil can. Just put the nozzle on the oil hole and pull the trigger a few times. This will push any air out.

Great videos, but you should always check pushrod length. No way the geometry is the same with new heads, springs and so on. Thanks for the hard work!

You'd be surprised. Our build went incredibly well and made big power. Thanks for watching!

@@2carpros But you can't skip that process on the "instruction" side. That's a roller block with a flat tappet cam. And aftermarket heads. Pushrod length should be checked when changing ONE component. You've changed many. (I did too. And a $20 pushrod length checking tool and about 20 minutes verified that stock length would be ok.)

Thanks for watching! There is something magic about the old school flat tappet though.

I'm really enjoying this series and it's timely because I'm actively building a 302. Question: can I use the same lifters you mentioned if my current lifters have a bearing to them? I like how in your valvetrain you dont have to measure for rods or any of the testing for where the rocker hits the valve. So can I use my same cam and switch to these lifters and gain the same benefits?
@2carpros
@2carpros 2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Use the correct lifters for your cam. If you have roller bearing can use roller bearings. Thanks for watching!

Why not use roller lifters and roller cam? Maybe due to cam selection or budget?

Maybe a part number for the guide plates and rocker arm studs, please?

Just to confirm, you set the lifters to roughly flush with the cylinder head for each piston (as shown at 3:50)? Just asking because I just watched another video where they ran the lifter all the way up then tightened. Your method intuitively makes more sense.

Correct. That's the way I do it and it works great. You just don't want any camshaft lift while you are adjusting. Thanks for watching!

That's funny you mention that. We actually have a sbc 350 coming in for a full build like this in a couple months. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching!

That’ll be great! For that build, I will definitely be interested in the upgrades you do from Summit. That build will be for my own vehicle with the Vortec heads already. Really looking forward to it. I’ll turn on new notifications on the subscription. Awesome stuff!

How do you know if you need a 1.6F or 1.7F on the rocker arms? I’ve seen where some have both listed.

@KingJT80 29 күн бұрын
1.6 is stock. 1.7(2) is used on clevelands or if you want higher lift out of the same camshaft

How long does those rocker last vs the stamp steel
@2carpros

I would say the same. They are much more efficient and have bearings instead of relying on a wear surface.

Okay thanks for the videos Have a personal issue I’m trying to figure out I own a mid 90s f150 5.8 speed density Trying to figure out if I want to do a stock return or find someone with mass air to play with Again it’s funds buying another car would take away from the actual project
