That feeling you when hit the power button and all the rgb comes to life is just amazing. That self satisfaction like " wow i really just built this" and as you get into the bios, install windows, install drivers and start to game you realize. I have become addicted to pc building/gaming, this wasn't bad at all i can do this again. 😀 built 3 systems in one year aww man it was awesome. Who ever want to build their first system you can do it.

You forgot something. That moment of sheer terror where you think everything is installed correctly and you push the power button and nothing happens. This is my first time watching Austin. He is very thorough, so if you've never done a build before, he's probably the one to watch. While many others out there have PC build tutorials, I think this is the most thorough, most detailed explanations from picking parts to installing, that I have seen. That being said, he did things in a bit of an odd order in my opinion, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. And I am by no means an expert. My recommendation to a first time builder...Watch this, and a few other build tutorials, all the way through BEFORE you start to build. This will ensure you know all the steps that are coming, and you don't have to redo things as you go, hopefully. Then, pick your favorite tutorial and watch it while you are building, pausing as needed. Definitely keep any manuals nearby. The motherboard manual is particularly helpful as it is likely easier to read than the motherboard itself as far as diagrams. Then enjoy building! As Austin says, it isn't as scary as it seems. In general, building a PC is easier than many think once you have the parts.

I know it might be a little advanced to look into but I think it would have been good to mention when choosing an air or watercooling solution for your cpu the most important thing to look at is the TDP that the cooler can handle which will give you relative insight into what cpu that specific cooler can handle. I know that every company has different TDP specs and they are not 1:1 but it will give you an idea if the cooler you choose will be able to compensate for the heat per watt that the cpu is putting out.

I couldn't help but laugh a little when i realized that you picked out both the same ram and ssd that i got, i only went with a 2 TB ssd instead of 1 TB ssd but that is still so cool, btw i've loved all of these tech videos and this is honestly making me more comfy going into making my first ever gaming pc, the only think i'm missing is the cpu, the graphics card and the cpu cooler, other then those and i'm good to go and i will honestly use this video and the 2022 one to help me make sure i actually set it up correctly, so Austin, thank you so much man, you rock my guy.

I would recommend stepping up to a 280 or 360 all in one cooler over a 240. These modern processors run very hot and the boost clocks are very dependent on temperatures. If you have the physical room to go bigger than 240 I would always recommend to go larger.

If you go AMD make sure your RAM 6000 CL32 or better. AMD is really RAM speed sensitive. Micro Center is running some killer deals. 7900X, RAM, Motherboard combo for 599.99 and if you buy the combo you can also get a 6950XT graphics card for $649.99 (which will match the 4070TI if properly setup)

@@dotcom624 CL timing are part of what makes RAM fast. The speed and timings determine the performance example DDR4 3200 cl16 and 3600 cl18 RAM will perform roughly the same. Your performance comparison can be determined by this formula - Absolute latency = (CAS latency*2000) / Frequency

I’ve watched this video 3 times now from start to finish. I have watched many, many other pc building tutorials as well in the past. I probably have over 20 hours worth of watching pc build guides. But I am still not confident in building a pc. Every time I watch a build guide a realize something new. Hopefully I will get the courage to spend $2500 on a build similar to Austin’s a take it upon myself to build my dream pc. I will need it soon because my current pc has an i3, no gpu, and 8gb of 3200mhz ram and I need to upgrade for work (and personal use of course).

Try going to local thrift store and find a cheap desktop pc. Pop that bad boy open and just mess with stuff. Unplug things and plug back in, take out the gpu and put it back in, get the feeling of how much pressure to put on it. Take out the cpu, look at it, look at the pins just study random things. You can watch a million videos but nothing compares to actual field work. Good luck !

Just a quick note: 80Plus rating is not a quality mark it's just an efficiency test. Yes a more efficient psu is more likely to be higher quality but it doesn't inherently mean it is high quality. You're better off looking for reputable psu vendors like EVGA, Corsair or Seasonic.

Also Cybenetics Labs recently started eating PSUs, ranging from Bronze to Diamond. Usually means about the same as 80 Plus, except they rate for quality

Eeeeeh, RAM part lacked a little, specifically because whether you go Intel or AMD, one or the other will benefit more from frequency or latency, which you didn't mention at all In this particular case, being an AM5 platform, going with a lower latency is preferable, over going for the top speed but have higher CL. Moreover, with AMD it's useless to go over 6000mhz, because of how the architecture works, which I won't delve into details, it being a beginner's guide
